Alright, I just endured about my 1000th airing of that HORRIBLE new Atlanta Braves spot on Turner South.
Have you had the chance to see it?
Some DJ Ran wannabe (the DJ, not the W poster) spins AND raps about the Braves, while the tomahawk chop chant takes place in the background.
Meanwhile, we get clips of the Braves making their plays... with the occassional thrown in studio clips of the Braves trying to look cool.
By looking cool, I mean dancing or posing.
The spot hits the lowpoint when Chipper Jones, with the world's FAKEST cheesy grin planted on his face, moves his hands in and out. The best way to describe it would be "doing the hokey pokey with finger pistols". I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.
If someone could actually capture those 2-3 seconds of Jones doing that and find a way of getting it to me I'd be appreciative.
I have written Turner South a letter and requested the embarrassing piece be taken off the air. It makes me wish I cheered for a far less embarrassing group, and it makes me reconsider Chipper as my favorite player. It's THAT bad.
From Peter Gammons' Notes Column (7/6/02): Just when it seemed that the Diamondbacks would deal Erubiel Durazo for Weaver or some pitcher and let Mark Grace and Lyle Overbay play first base, this happened:
