1Wrestling has a WWE.com story up about how Steve Austin has said for him being a wrestler is done. So I guess this 50/50 GM of RAW will go on for a while. Here's the link:

| #6 Posted on 29.4.03 0553.00 | I'm not a huge Austin fan or anything, but this sucks. He'll be mildly entertaining in the comissioner role, but it won't be the same.
They really need to try to somehow pull off the Goldberg-Austin feud down the road. Despite what WWE would have people believe, Goldberg-Austin is the feud people wanted to see, not Goldberg-Rock. Not having that match at a major PPV (Summerslam or WM) would be the equivalent of not having Flair and Hogan at Wrestlemania 8.
Hopefully something will take a turn for the better and he'll be able to resume at least a part-time schedule...although he may not want to at this point.

Though never a huge fan of his character I can't disagree with the sentiments. He was one of the biggest draws ever in his prime and will be sorely missed.
Alas I fear his GM role could be reduced to weekly interruptions of Bischoff's heelish booking attempts with mulitple "WHAT?'s" followed up with "If you want to see match X happen instead give me a Hell Yeah", all topped of with a healthy dose of "and thats the bottom line, because Stone Cold says so."

Austin was pretty entertaining when Linda made him CEO for a while back in...uh, 1999 was it? (The angle that led to the mysterious raising briefcase.) This could be entertaining. For once, I'm willing to give WWE the benefit of the doubt.

And he's had a broken neck...and probably the best run of any single wrestler. Ever. So, he's done as a full-time active wrestler. He'll still throw on the boots every now and then most likely. After all, he hasn't fought Goldberg yet.

I don't know if someone in Austin's condition would want to be getting in the ring with Goldberg. From what he said, one wrong move and Austin will be spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair/paralyzed. Add in that the Rock also apparently thinks Goldberg is not the safest person to be wrestling with, Austin should stay out of the ring or atleast have the final match with someone else. | Freeway

Hey! It ain't ballet! Everyone has a shot at becoming the next Droz every time they go out there. It's a constant risk. Injuries or not, Austin's reducing the risk by simply cutting his ring time down. A lot. That being said, I say he's back in the ring by August.

But anyway, who is there left for Austin to fight in a 'one last match' scenario? Rock? Done that. Goldberg? Too risky from a health scenario. Foley? He won't come back. The only ones I could maybe see are Angle, Undertaker or Triple H.
Unless, perhaps, Austin was in a tag match, so his partner could take the lion's share of the work. Maybe he can team with a returning Edge and call themselves the Broken Neck Bruthas or something.

As do I, I also think he will have a final match at XXI, XXII, AND XXIII...If it makes it that long which is highly unlikley.

Is this considered Spam? What a shill...
I'd love for Austin to have a last match with a returning Bret Hart, since they brought out the best in each other.
