| #1 Posted on 14.7.02 2109.39 | Just saw CMLL on Galavision here in New York. During a six man match, second fall, a whole bunch of rudos jumped in and stared to beat up on the technicos. All seemed lost for the brave three, until...Sting flew out of the arena entrance and cleaned house!!! Or so I thought. But I didn't recall Sting having a roundhouse kick in his arsenal And fans for some reason started shouting "Vampyro!! Vampyro!!"
Which leads me to this question: was Vampyro granted the right to use Sting's face paint style before Steve Borden left wrestling for good?

I thought I heard Steve Borden say in an interview once that he owns the rights to the name "Sting" pertaining to entertainment and sports, and that the artist (who didn't copyright the name) has to pay him a royalty...
I would guess the crown black & white / red & black face-paint would be owned by Vicne though... Not much of a difference though since Steve Borden probably won't be comming back, and given the dismal failure former co-workers like Hall, Nash, and Hogan have been, I'd imagine it'd be a hard sell to VInce to have him back. | Zeruel

So Vince doesn't necessarily own the rights to the Sting likeness. He could, but he doesn't have to. “And each and every one of you, when you see me, you will not put your eyes directly on me-- you will look to the ground and you will refer to me as 'Lord Master.'”Kevin Nash, January 17, 2000 Two-Time, Two-Time Randomly Selected Weiner of the Day, 5/27/02 and 7/3/02 | ThreepMe

| #8 Posted on 15.7.02 1000.32 | If I remember right, when Sting first premiered as "The Crow Sting" he had to change the design because it was too much like the Eric character from The Crow.
So if you change up the design a bit you can probably get away with likeness rights.
