Most Americans know by now, but the federal government plans to give out a whole bunch o' money to us folks this year- just for filling out our taxes (and the fact that the economy is in the toilet, but that's a minor detail)
Most of us should get $600, $1200 if you're married, maybe only $300 if you don't have a whole lot of income. We THOUGHT that we'd be getting them sometime in May, but by some miracle, the government got their act together enough to start sending out the payments a full week or so early! (money.cnn.com)
So, who's following the government's advice and spening this on something worthwile, like pizza, beer, or a new TV (my TV COULD be better, y'know?), and who is going to spend it on trivial stuff like bills and savings?
Why save? Get crap interest rates and then you end up paying taxes on it. Either goes towards student loan payments, or hoarding items to sell on the black market.

We're buying a set of kitchen Cabinets made in Nappanee Indiana by the Amish. My Daughter's using hers for part of the payment towards her new Mac. My son didn't have income. (my children aren't allowed to work while in high school)
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

I'm on a savings plan at the moment, so I'm putting mine in my savings account (and from there, I'll probably put it into a 3 or 5 month certificate, earning an APR of slightly-better-than-nothing).
My wedding is shortly after the checks go out, so it is pretty much just going to stop off in our bank account on its way to the fine folks at Holiday Inn Des Moines.
I don't get your fancy-dan American tax rebates, but I still got a sizable refund this year. - 3/5ths into savings - just under 1/5th covered my auto insurance and tenant insurance - the remaining 1/5th was spent on a recent trip to Calgary (I saw Hart House! Oh, and my grandparents)
And next month is a three-paycheque month, so I get another treat. I think I will celebrate by buying XP Media Centre edition and blowing away my Vista Media Centre PC. I just got a new computer at work; it's smoking fast and has inspired me to kick Vista to the f'n curb at home too.
As a patriot (Mr. Boffo, why do you hate America?), I am going to spend it all as quickly as I can. I'm going to get a Copperphone mic and a Double Muff fuzzbox and a EWI 4000 MIDI wind controller if I can find a decent price. Oh, and a Marxophone (link plays music!), if one turns up on eBay.

I think there is a difference between lines that are poorly acted in bad movies, and lines that ruin or at least derail movies. I mean anything in Troll 2 belongs in the former. "You don't piss on hospitality! I won't allow it!
