Ummm... JR and the King saying he was being booed because of his tights was lame. Did it annoy anybody else? Can people in the US (RI?) boo him too? I want to see what reason they come up with next week and the week after that, and the week after that....
You mean the fact that he was booed has nothing to do with the fact that he sucks?

The weren't booing. They were going Woof-Woof. Obviously, Toronto is home to die-hard fans of the dog-faced gremlin himself, and would love to have seen him accompany Scott to ringside. The 'O' just sounds more extended because of the exchange rate on the dollar.
Speaking as a Canadian, I thought Steiner was booed because he sucks and he works best as a heel. Same for why we cheer Angle, cuz he rules. Same as why Hogan was cheered. Hogan is a face, tried and true. We just know it instinctively.
Are you ready for Mahkan-mania to run wild all over you?

I think Steiners a bit beyond the stage where all he needs is cheap pops to get back over as a face.
The WWE's recognised that the fans are booing him and they're now having him work with it rather than trying to get them on his side. Thats why we saw him working heel style at NWO for large periods of the match, going to work on HHH's injured leg etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a fully fledged hell turn within the month.
Incidentally, the general consensus where I was was that the Steiner/HHH match was pretty decent. Now Taker/Show on the other hand.....

The booing Steiner because he's American could, theoretically, be plausible. Unfortunately, his tag partner who is American had the loudest cheers of the night. And his opposition were Americans, so by logic they should have had louder boos. But, its always wonderful when the announcers make up stuff that even the worst dirtsheet couldn't believe was plausible.

I wouldn't be surprised at a hell of a turn from Steiner either. Turn back to Michigan. Did you see how they jobbed him out at Raw this week? He looked like a freaking pansy.
I can't believe so many people were angered by this offhand remark! Jerry said something to the effect of, "I told Scott not to wear an American flag on his tights!" It was a joke! It didn't occur to me that anybody might think that Jerry expected anyone to take that seriously as the reason Steiner was being booed until I read this thread.
Oh, and dMr, you're high. Undertaker/Big Show kicked ass. I believe a dead man can fly!

I don't think it was that initial time that Lawler said it, I think it was the million times J.R. repeated it.
I think he should have come down in American Flag Tights and an American Flag as a cape. That would have been awesome.

Ah, this makes much more sense now. The original comment was on the PPV and Coach was there, not JR. I completely failed to notice JR harping on this during Steiner's Raw match. I guess that the only person that took Jerry's initial joke seriously was good ol' JR...

What Lawler said was OK cause it was a joke. But JR has historically gotten pissed on air when the fans don't react how he likes. He can go fuck himself. Remember at Mania 18 how hard he was trying to avoid saying the crowd was cheering Hogan? He called it a "mixed reaction" even thought it was about 90-10 in Hogan's favor. And during the match when the crowd booed Rock for using the weight belt, JR said something like "Oh, they're not gonna like this. Well, you may not like it, but Hogan used the belt first. Rock is only retaliating - that's YOUR call, FANS." He came off sounding like a real dick.
On Raw, I heard that same tone. Lawler made the remark, but JR tried to sell it as gospel. He refuses to let the people cheer who they want, and has to belittle their great Canadian fans because they have a mind of their own. He flat out implied that they hate him cause he's a proud American. What a total load of garbage. JR's KNOWS it's not true that they hate him for being American, but that's the low road he has to take.
Hey JR, maybe Steiner sucks ass and they want to be entertained. Sorry for the offense, but not everybody can be as entertaining a main eventer as JR is. Fat shit.
Arite, I'm calm now. I'm not really that "offended" at what he implied about Canadians, I'm just offended by JR, the person. I think he takes the low road a lot of times when the fans don't think like him.
Brad is older than Mick Foley so Brad would be in the seniors division before Mick. I don't consider someone who is 41 a senior either. It's obvious they're doing a Freebirds Reunion.
