I caught this last night on a late night replay and it is beyond tremendous. Seagal is extremely serious in this and the respect shown to him on the street testifies to TBS's 99% cable penetration--everyone has seen his movies & no one wants to upset the man. The greatest line so far: after a dude gets angry and kicks out a patrol car back window while handcuffed Seagal remarked that the guy, "needed to improve his ZEN."

Awesome.

From the A & E website:

Steven Seagal Lawman - His movies have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. He is an expert martial artist with a 7th-degree black belt in Aikido. He's considered to be in the same class of action hero as Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, Steven Seagal isn't just an action hero in the movies. For almost 20 years, Seagal has been working as a fully commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana. In addition to going out on patrol, Seagal is an expert marksman who has worked with their SWAT team and has instructed Jefferson Parish officers in firearms and hand-to-hand combat.

Steven Seagal Lawman will allow fans to ride shotgun with Seagal as he and his hand-selected elite team of deputies respond to crimes in progress. Then, when Seagal goes off duty, the cameras will continue following him as he pursues his many ventures, including musical performances and philanthropic efforts in Jefferson Parish and New Orleans.

It's on A&E On Demand over here. I am sorely tempted to watch it if the new "Hoarders" STILL isn't up next time Kim tunes to On Demand.

The previews did look interesting. Not sure how many "Oh man I got arrested by Steven Seagal"s I can take though.

That never happened. One dude quietly said to him, "I know who you are and I RESPECT YOU."

I was blown away by the marksmanship demonstration. I understand there's some chance of camera tricks being used, but, judging by the other cop's reaction, I don't think so. I mean, he shot the head off a damn match (and was frustrated because he only did that, instead of lighting it like he meant to). Does Seagal seem to take his own image a bit too seriously? Probably. But, at the same time, I suspect the dude might be a bit of legitimate bad-ass, which I really didn't expect. I enjoyed it anyway.

A&E's on-demand is full of fail. Well, at least with Cox. I'm amazed I was even able to watch the new Intervention, Hoarders isn't up, and I can't even watch Hoarders on their site (something isn't loading). Meanwhile, my Comcast-serviced girlfriend gets plenty of both. Grrrr.

His music still sucks, right?

Bet'cha if anyone resists arrest and hands Seagal his ass, the episode will never air.

Both of the two new episodes this week were good in their own way. The second episode was excellent as it featured Seagal visiting the Children's Hospital in New Orleans and then doing a benefit concert for the patients families with his band at The House of Blues.

He's got a pretty funky New Orleans blues band with guitar, bass, drums, Hammond B-3 organ and 3 female back-up singers.

He's no Buddy Guy, but the band is good.

One of his fellow officers summed it up by saying something about Steven being a pretty good guitarist, but that his dancing is lousy.

I saw an episode last night, and it was pretty boring I thought. They kept going on calls and it was like....nothing. Hey those kids may be dealing drugs...nope, nothing on them. But one got arrested anyway. 911 call emergency! No trouble when they got there. Does anything ever happen?

"He gets me off, I get him off." "We get each other off." "We were flamingos together." "Don't ask, don't tell." Denny's big time Alzheimer's scare from last episode... painful to watch.
