5 years, $65M.
1) that officially knocks Phoenix out of the Kobe-stakes.
2) the offically ends the era of this lovable duo:

I wonder if the Suns had already received confirmation from Kobe's camp that he wasnt interrested in them before they agreed to this deal. I have to assume it went down like that.

Furthermore, I wonder if the Mavs' letting Nash go had anything to do with them giving up on getting Shaq. Wasnt he supposed to be part of the package they were offering to get Shaq? They already werent offering up Dirk, now with Nash gone, I HAVE to assume their chances of getting Shaq are dead in the water. UNLESS They still have some other mysterious way of convincing the Lakers to give Shaq up that I'm just not thinking of???

Would Nash even be compatible with Payton?

(I think I mean that more in the reverse)

(Not Bob Kohm)

In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.

Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

Well, while it's a technicality, it should be pointed out that Nash has simply agreed to sign with the Suns. He can't actually sign the contract until July 14.

It probably won't end up meaning anything, but I think it's important to point that out, just in case.

Makes sense. They can tell the fans "Well, we tried."

God Bless Ronald Reagan, and may he rest in peace...

* * * * * * *

For decades, American had waged a Cold War, and few believed it could possibly end in our own lifetimes. The president was one of those few. And it was the vision and the will of Ronald Reagan that gave hope to the oppressed, shamed the oppressors and ended an evil empire . . . Ronald Reagan was more than a historic figure. He was a providential man who came along just when our nation and the world most needed him.

Fellow Americans, here lies a graceful and a gallant man.
- Dick Cheney, 6/9/2004

Reagan had a rare and prized gift called leadership, that ineffable and sometimes magical quality that sets some men and women apart so that millions will follow them as they conjure up grand visions and invite their countrymen to dream big and exciting dreams.-Brian Mulroney, 6/11/2004

Stoudamire, Marion, Johnson and now Nash - you have to like the way things look from an offensive perspective in Phoenix - these guys could rival the Doug Moe era Denver Nuggets for scoring ability.

You got that right DJ. The only way Shaq goes to Dallas now is if Dirk is included in the deal. No Dirk, no Shaq.

7:39 -- They go with Howard. Of course they do. He's the third high schooler taken overall in the past four years, as well as the first top pick with braces since Pervis Ellison. Not a good sign. "Praise the Lord!" screams Dwight Howard Sr., who didn't realize that the Lord had Okafor going first in his mock draft.

9:46 -- Yes! Boston takes Delonte West! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Something good happened! He's good! I know he's good! I watched him all year! He's a more unselfish version of Cuttino Mobley! I have an opinion! Woo-hoo! I have an opinion!
