Too much nerd power for one man). And the sequels reportedly involve a "much older" Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia. Well, if the original actors return, then "much older" is correct wording.

Kick Ass and First Class Matthew Vaughn's name regrettably has been mentioned as the director and the guy who wrote Little Mary Sunshine and the new Hunger Games is going to write the screenplay. I am not a fan of Vaughn. I though Kick Ass was pure shit going for too many happy endings from the source material which also wasn't that great either. First Class was 20 minutes too long and tried to shove way too much into one picture. So, I am cool with Brad Bid, Steven and almost any decent director instead of Vaughn.
Mark Hamill said he and Carrie had lunch with George in August and told them Episode VII was happening. So, it would seem to me that we are going to get the original cast back. I just hope they don't decide to slaughter them all for the sake of being dark and edgy.

Maybe shows how far Harrison Ford's film career has fallen with him interested in doing another Star Wars movie after he had wanted Lucas to kill his character off.
Don't want to sound mean, but even with Fisher playing a very much older Princess Leia, she would need to lose some weight. My wife and I were shocked at how large she was on that last Comedy Central Roast.

I'm more curious to see the villain they cook up more than the return of old friends. But I hope with good directors and scripts, these people can show what they got. I always thought Hammill was left high and dry working with weak scenes and a muppet. I want him to have a chance to show he can bring it as much as an engaged Ford.

They're not?! Then no deal, Fisher!
Spielberg, Tarantino, and Zack Snyder can be crossed off the Star Wars directors list. (bleedingcool.com) Not enough midi-chloreans, the lot of them.

Yeah, like 30+ years ago. How about this idea, just to float out there: No one over 65 write or direct a Star Wars movie? Let talented folks who weren't in college when Nixon was President try their hands at moving the Star Wars franchise forward.

UGH!!! They were an interesting idea for maybe a few books, but sixteen to twenty was too many. I never really put that the force couldn't work on them like force push or choke considering a lot of it had to with moving the air around them not themselves. I am thinking the villain is going to be one of Han or Leia's kids or another Emperor's Hand not named Mara Jade. Fett being the big bag maybe worse than the Vong.

As much time will have passed between Return of the Jedi and the 2015 movie for as is supposed to have passed between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope. That allows a parallel of the past catching up with someone. Episode IV was about the emergence of the Jedi threat to the Empire. You can mirror that with someone popping up to threaten the New Republic.
I will now disqualify theories of Jabba Junior, Sith Hutt for Hire.

I think it would be an interesting twist that they would spend time showing how they're rebuild the republic and Luke is trying to rebuild the Jedi. But what, if the New Republic became so bloated and corrupt because of the power vacuum the Empire left behind, Luke and company have to take down the republic they themselves helped free.
A civil war of sorts. It isn't as cut and dry as before, Evil Empire vs rag-tag rebels. This time it is two groups of equal forces both thinking they have the best interests of the New Republic at heart. Both groups with pros and cons but neither overtly good nor evil. To take a page out of John Woo, just different shades of gray.

Remember the line about Luke being the last hope...no there is another? If you go into the books, Luke goes off to find more Jedi to train.
If there were only 2 Sith, a dark Jedi would then assume the mantle of being the new Lord of the Sith.
Assuming there are more Jedi around that Yoda et al. didn't know about.

Was that really a "rule", and not something that was said to make everyone feel better?
Could you imagine finding some ancient text of the Sith and it appeals to you and you want to start training but all your training is for naught because there area already two Sith out there and you have to queue up because some cosmic ban-hammer has forbidden you to continue? That would suck.

Well there's only two official Sith because their nature lent itself to too much backstabbing. Everyone else (as has been mentioned) is just a dark Jedi waiting in the wings to go from JV to Varsity.

You know, it worked out preeeettty okay when JJ Abrams did something similar with Star Trek.
If the sequel trilogy is indeed set 30 years after Return of the Jedi ended as is rumored, then it has to be about new, younger characters. As long as they cast the actors well, create good characters and story, stay true to the essence of the material, and infuse some real fun into the movies, people will like them. Anyone who that's not enough for is probably pretty ridiculous and not worth pleasing.
More big name directors, and one you've probably never heard of Just Saying No to Star Wars. (avclub.com) All of them passing is cool with me.

Yes, as a hardcore Trekkie, I liked and thought the new Star Trek was very good, but the parts I really liked had Nimoy. How Trek goes from here without the net of old Star Trek actors is going to be the real question. Also minus Star Trek, it hasn't worked with other franchises.
To me, the Star Wars saga is about Anakin Skywalker. I am not sure how they are going to have a villain as bad ass as Vader in the next movies. To be fair, the prequels really suffered from not having an A list villain until Sith where they finally had Palpatine fight. Every other villain turned out to be a stand in or just Jedi bait. They need a really great villain for these next few films. My money is on the kids, but we will see.
