Oh, and Paul Burchill too.
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/burchillreleased
It was only a matter of time, with the ECW roster consolidating into RAW and Smackdown and the company making room for up to 8 NXT guys possibly joining the main shows for a while. I imagine there'll be more releases to come.
I just realized Helms and Burchill feuded for much of last year, and they got released together. Talk about a feud putting both guys under.

CHAVO
Burchill and Hurricane had a loser leaves town match on ECW. Now the true winner has been called into question. Hopefully Gregory Helms (who went unmentioned) and the Ripper can both remain employed. | Spiraling_Shape

Concerning Hurricane, I wonder if being released as such would allow him to attend or wrestle on the March 8th TNA show. Having him in an X Division showcase would kickass.

I heard a rumor at one point that Helms wanted to leave the WWE anyway because he wanted to join his buddies Moore and Hardy (whose employment is still up in the air) in TNA. I'm sure TNA would probably throw Helms into the X Division and rarely use him, but maybe spending time in the WWE will get him slightly more time than say Jay Lethal or MCMG. I could dig a Moore/Helms vs. MCMG feud even if it's just curtain jerking every show.

I guess that isn't counting guys that invaded HWA at the time? Because Yang is still with the company isn't he?

Maria released! Fuck that, man. Yeah, yeah, I know, she can't wrestle, blah blah. Some folks even think she's not that hot. Whatever. That sucks. I thought she was awesome.

Attention divas: do not participate in reality shows if you want to remain employed (Maria, Stacy). Your *best case scenario* is Ashley Massaro. Ouch.

Hardy can sell some merch, but it's clear that Jeff was the moneymaker of the two brothers, and his value decreases every day Jeff doesn't come back to give him heat. And Khali have very much had his run and is just there for comedy segments now.
Seriously, would anyone other than hardcore Hardy fangirls miss them?

That GL tattoo was the best thing that ever happened to him. The Hurricane had staying power, generic cruiserweight Greg Helms would've been cut back in 2002.
Maria being cut, WTF?

Alright guys let's talk. I did not ask for my release. I was released. I am still going to kick ass in other areas!! I am excited about the future! But I am sad about never getting the Championship. I am sad about not getting the chance to go to Wrestlemania again. Passion is my Motivation! Time to Sing! Time to work for Charity! Time to Dance! Time to be Alive again! Much love to my FANS, my FAMILY, the DIVAS, and my FRIENDS! There is a bright new future when one door closes another opens! Bring on the Doors! Spanks and Kisses
It's interesting, Maria is definitely not the first person to equate leaving WWE with being alive again.
I'd like to add, she never got a heel turn/heel run, and she never got to be paired with Edge, which was at one point a post-Vickie Guerrero divorce plan on the drawing board. Sucks. Sucky suck sucks.
