Theres word going around right now that vince told the spirit squad they would be disbanding. Why? As much as I hate to say it they've become one of my favorite parts of raw. The trampoline rules all!

Link?

I like them, but man are they getting buried. It'd be nice to see some character development so I can actually recognize the individuals.

Considering they've been punked out by DX numerous times, I think it's time.

I'm thinking Big Vis and Haas will get the straps at some point. Then again, their anti-woman angle might get a Mae Young/Moolah payoff..

I miss the days of the strong tag division, but I agree it's time for SS to split up. I'm still hoping Dx2006 will bring a couple of them into the stable as they might have some potential, and I'd rather see some long term benefit to the angle.

Seven whole months as an act. Four as a pushed commodity. That rivals MNM, and MNM had extenuating circumstances. Well, what a relief that the tag titles will be saved by moving into a Highlanders/Haascera program (the hottest feud since Cade & Murdoch vs. Hurricane & Rosey) instead of being on an act of some import.

I do the Mikey buttscoot dance in their memory.

Better to break them up now, while everyone is still interested them, than to wait for the audience to get bored of them.

It was an interesting run. A lot of people initially thought that the "male cheerleader" gimmick would bomb and that it was wrong to take five talented guys from OVW and have them all play the same character and not be allowed to "get over" on their own.

Then, after they debuted, most people I'd say really liked them as heels. Eventually though, they got overexposed in the same way Eugene did, getting put in multiple segments on RAW and being involved in most main events. And now, they're breaking up. Should be interesting to see where they go from here, at least.

I would like to see two stay together (with the belts) and help prop up the tag division.

I'd like to see two sets of two. Kenny and Mikey and maybe Mitch and johnny. Let them get the tag division over like that.

When I first heard this, I was saddened. When the gimmick first started I thought it was stupid and a waste of talent. However, these guys took this gimmick and RAN with it. To the point that I looked forward to seeing them each week.

However, upon further reflection, I'd say that it is time. Nothing against any of the performers, but if I have to sit through DX v. Spirit Squad one more time, I might kill someone. And I hate to see anyone get hurt.

I guess I can look forward to a Kenny push. Hopefully Mikey & Johnny will be kept around as well. As for Nicky & Mitch.... well, it was nice knowin' ya'... I guess.

If they have to bust them up, I'd rather do Mitch and Mikey and Johnny and Nickie. Kenny, I think we all agree, has the most upside of the bunch as a singles competitor. Still, I'm sad to see them get busted up without even doing anything with the 5-man co-champion gimmick. Such is life, I suppose. Maybe someday they'll have tag team wrestling again, but I won't hold my breath.

Or .... D-X? (You know - Those two really love title belts! And are actually feuding with the squad for YEARS now!)

And: Wow! A lot of you guys here actually know the names of those 5 suckers??? I guess my days as a REAL fan are over!? :(

It was hard but eventually it came together. It helps if you know (of) their OVW past.

Kenny - headband - the good one
Johnny - the other good one - tiny
Mikey - Mike Mondo in OVW - midget, goof
Mitch - from Tough Enough 4 - thus tall, good body
Nick - Chavo's caddy - generic looking dude

The first three are easy, the last two can be tough.

I always remembered Mitch as "the one that barely wrestled".

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Didn't he have an injury or something? He had a couple of nice weeks as the group's mouthpiece and seeming leader, but that didn't last long.

Scene: Mark DeRosa's brain. The year is 2005.
Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Come on, another position change? One day it's second base, the next day right field, now it's third? Why, I oughta go into Buck's office and throw his talking fish on the floor!
Other part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Hold on, other part of the brain. We're making $500,000 this year. Last year we made $725,000. All for playing a damn kids' game. This is, as they say in Brainland, a no-"us"-er. We're not going to complain.

I've gotten pretty good at telling them apart, but actually, I still often get stuck on Johnny vs. Nicky. Johnny's the better wrestler and has a somewhat more-distinctive style, but when they're just standing around on the apron, it can be tough.

Kenny's the easiest not only because he's the best but because his look is the most different, with the headband and unorthodox swimmer's physique and all. Mikey is probably the second-easiest because he's really really short and broad and acts like the biggest spastic jerk, meaning, I suppose, that he does the Spirit Squad gimmick the best of all the Spirit Squadders. Mitch isn't so easy as those two, but I find him easier to tell apart than Johnny and Nicky because he's kind of a dumb-looking troglodyte.
