Ok, so I turn on my computer, and immediately a message pops up on my toolbar saying that Windows has detected a spyware infection and that I should download the 'latest antispyware tool' for me. Immediately I'm suspicious, and even moreso when I notice that the tool seems to be loading for me.

Anyway, it's this thing called SpyAxe, and my Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D programs can't seem to get rid of it. Any help?

I Googled it and ended up with a blog post at The X (no relation).

If you don't like that one, there appear to be some good entries right AFTER the entry for the SpyAxe people. http://www.google.com/search?q=spyaxe

Microsoft's MSN Search AND live.com Live Search both seem to resolve to www.bing.com now. Intriguing! (I only noticed because they are throwing some DVD searches my way, which will always get my attention ;-) )
