| #1 Posted on 19.5.06 0943.50 | Instant Rating: 5.44 | While at work, I pass the time (and keep myself from going insane) by listening to "Mike & Mike in the Morning" on ESPN.com in the morning until 10:00am and alternate between "Mike & The Mad Dog" on WFAN.com and Dan Patrick on ESPN.com from 1:00pm on.
The problem is the gap between 10:00am and 1:00pm. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good program in that timeslot that's streamed online? I seem to gravitate away from the one-man format, but I'm still more than happy to check them out. Also, as long as they're not talking about high school sports that I couldn't possibly care less about, I don't mind at all any market-specific programs...I always find it fascinating to hear/read certain regional perspectives.
Note - don't bother suggesting Cowherd. Been there, hated that.
So...any suggestions?
EDIT - It'd be helpful to point out that's 10:00am-1:00pm EST (near Albany, NY).

You'd be catching OUR 7-10 am hours, so he does the Daily Schnoz at 7:30, where he hits four or five national stories with their local reporters (like going to Cleveland for tonight's Pistons-Cavs Game 6), and at 8:00 he does a big-time interview. Mitch is AWESOME, IMO, but he's definitely in the love-him-or-hate-him category, because some say he "doesn't talk about sports", which is ENTIRELY untrue.

If you hear nothing else, try to catch the 10 minutes where he and Tony Bruno discuss - well, almost anything BUT sports, actually. If you're a "sports sports sports" guy it might not be your cuppa but they're INCREDIBLY entertaining. Check the clips they've posted on that page to get a taste.

Holley used to write for the Boston Globe, appeared on Around the Horn and also on I, Max. I personally don't care that much for the show overall (due almost entirely to the fact that Dale Arnold annoys the hell out of me, although they do get some good guests) but you might want to give it a try and see if it's to your liking.

| #5 Posted on 19.5.06 1630.26 | Here in Columbus we've got WBNS (1460thefan.com) that cuts off Cowherd at noon for Spielman on Sports with former OSU/Lions linebacker Chris Spielman. It's a good way to kill an hour and he's good for at least one laugh out loud idiotic remark everyday.
If you're at work past 4:00, they've got The Big Show with Kirk Herbstreit and Bruce Hooley which is excellent. Lots of college football talk all year as Buckeye fans don't really acknowledge the off-season, but they can and do offer good insight on everything in the world of sports with an emphasis on the Cincinnati and Cleveland pro teams.

It's now 9-12, with the first hour being Andy doing the news and then a caller segment or two. The second two hours are all the things from the old daypart, like a local sportswriter guest, emails and what not.
It's not really sports, but I would also recommend Adam Carolla's morning show, which is on 9A-1P on the east coast.

This may not be what you're looking for, but since Cowherd is so unlistenable out of college football season, I recommend:
The Dr. Keith Lipinski Show over at

It's the best wrestling show on the net.

FWIW, my listening schedule now looks like: 8:30am to 10:00am EST - Mike & Mike in the Morning (ESPN Radio) 10:00am to 12:00pm EST - Dale Arnold & Michael Holley on WEEI.com (Orangeman, I've especially become a BIG fan of Dale & Holley - despite being a Yankees fan) 12:00pm to 2:00pm EST - Gary Radnich (KNBR - and CRZ is right, the ten minutes between Radnich and Tony Bruno is tremendous and Radnich is very entertaining...only complaint I have is that there were a couple times where I wasn't able to connect to the stream at all.) 2:00pm to 5:00pm EST - Mike & The Mad Dog (one of the few shows where the hosts can freak out and yell at the callers while keeping it listenable)
I've also been checking out some of the other recommendations, but those are the ones that seem to have stuck. Again, to all of you, thanks! Definitely makes the work day go by quicker.

I have checked out all the streams listed in this thread and there are many good ones. Thanks.
Does anybody have an internet stream that has Fox's First Team with Steve Czaban? I listen to them on my way into work, but I can't seem to find an affiliate listing so I can listen on the computer. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Is ESPN programming changing stations, or leaving the market all together?

Dan Snyder's Red Zebra sations bought the rights. They start in July or August.
It actually makes more sense for 980 to be Fox-related, since both are Clear Channel properties. (CC leases the Fox brand for the radio.)

I saw on the 980 website that Czaban was going to have his own show starting in July and I wondered what was going on.
I listened to the 980 stream on Friday and heard the guys on there, too. Does Czabe really do 3 hours for FSR and then 3 hours for 980 every day 6-12?

Andy does the first segment at 9 by himself. Plus, on the Reporters, he talks less since he is a co-host and there are three people on the show.
I would still prefer it the way he has it now. before, he did 6-9 AM and then CAME BACK (from VA to suburban MD) to do 5-7 PM.
Now, he is done at noon and has the rest of hte day free.

Not any more. He quit on air last June without telliong anyone, screwing the station's lineup for quite some time. B&B eventually took over his slot. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they spend 4 hours on "tear" vs "strain".

Not really. It's the Score and ESPN 1000. Sporting News Radio is based here but can't get a local outlet. Cubs are on WGN, Bears are a news station, and the Bulls will be on a mysterious FM station, but there's no other 24/7 sports station.
