Hey, i just got back. The show ended about an hour ago. Kanyon actually signed autographs!-he was the only one
Let me do it fast and furious:

Kanyon/some guy v. Spanky and Paul London was excellent for
Velocity. Also taped was:
Rhyno v. Bradshaw (Rhyno cheered!)
Funaki v. Akio
Orlando Jordan v. some Nazi jobber guy

Smackdown!:
Eddie helps Chavo out in his match with Shelton, without his Chavo actually knowing. Eddie with a Y2Stinger "beer hat" was funny...
I think heard Rikishi and Scotty won the tag titles (as soon as I saw Rikishi I went to the bathroom)...
Benoit v. Cena was defiantly John's best match to date. Controversy ensued and match was restarted and lasted in total about 15 min...
Noble finds Nidia a useful role ringside...
Moore v. Show-you can guess what happens
and...
...
....
Lesnar v. Benoit actually happened. It was a solid 15-20 mins. and was in my opinion Lesnars best match ever. Defiantly MOTYC.

If I were you I woun't want such a great match spoiled, but if you do:

...

...

...

Great in ring action to start, but then the fight gets taken outside. Benoit's chops were unbelievable. Eventually he gets him down and hits a beautiful headbutt, which everyone thought was the finish. The loudest "Oohs!!!" I ever heard; almost like a simultaneous heartattack. Later on, The arena chanted "make him tap! make him tap!" which led to an attempted Crossface. They struggle but Lesnar's arm strength was too much and he picks Benoit for some sort of suplex that knocks the ref out. Benoit however gets the crossface and makes him tap again. Chris checks on the ref as Lesnar recovers and F5 Chris. But he kicks out! (second biggest pop of the night)
Crowd chants "you tapped out" which leads Brock to get a chair and attack Chris's ankle. Brock then applies the single most painful submission that I've never seen before. It was amazing. The ref calls for the bell however because Benoit lost consciousness. Brock then makes a passed out Benoit "tap out". Fucking great match that makes Brock look so much like a motherfucker. Benoit gets a standing O and looks to have cried. He walked out looking stronger even though he lost.

I'm serious guys, catch Smackdown just for the Benoit/Lesnar Benoit/Cena matches. Tape it.

How would you describe the submission hold Lesnar used, apart from painful?

Here's more detailed spoilers from WrestlingObserver.com:

Quick report from tonight's Smackdown tapings in San Jose.

Show really wasn't much except for the two Chris Benoit matches. Except for the fact the main event was so tremendous, the Raw brand house show on Saturday night was a better show.

    Dark matches

    1. Cat b Chuck Palumbo with a messed up feliner.
    2. Billy Kidman b ? (I think it was Jimmy Snuka Jr.) - PA was pretty bad, which always seems a problem at WWE shows. The job guy didn't look good and bad match

    Velocity
    3. Akio b Funaki when Tajiri interfered in a good match
    4. Spanky & Paul London b Chad Collyer & Kanyon when London pinned Collyer with a double-team move that busted up Collyer's mouth. London did a dropkick on one guy and landed with a full splash on the other. Crowd was on all four guys bad but the work was good
    5. Orlando Jordan b Greg ? (looked like Jack Bull) with a messed up neckbreaker. This is going to need major sound sweetening because it was filled with loud boring chants.
    6. Bradshaw b Rhyno after a high kick, but Rhyno gored him after the match

    Smackdown

Brock Lesnar did a promo. They are trying to position him as "the greatest WWE champion of all-time" as he said it a few times and it was also in his entrance video. Interview went too long. He said he'd never tap again but took about ten minutes to say it. His delivery has gotten better. They really pushed Benoit making him tap before the show started on video to make sure they chanted at Lesnar.

    7. Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty b Basham Brothers in a non-title match when Rikishi pinned Doug after a Samoan drop. Shaniqua called both Bashams pathetic and walked out on them.

Paul Heyman was in a room with Dawn Marie wearing a killer outfit. Paul is no longer portrayed as incompetent, but instead as a sexual as Dawn wanted him to lay her bad and it was obvious. He could have cared less, and was only interested in seeing her mail a letter to Bob Holly (still suspended) and to get Shannon Moore

Heyman invited Moore to the ring while he was surrounded by Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones. They are trying to get Moore over as an little guy who never quits, and when he was face to belly button with Morgan and Jones, he did look small.

    8. Big Show b Moore with a choke slam very quickly

    9. Jamie Noble b Sakoda when he threw the "blind" Nidia into the ring and then threw her into Sakoda, and when Sakoda was stunned, Noble schoolboyed him. Looked to be a Noble. They had to retape the post-match a second time, this time with Noble browbeating her after the match and dropping her. Fans booed the hell out of the re-tape

    10. Benoit b Cena to get the shot. Cena first won with an FU, but Benoit's foot was on the ropes. Brian Hebner came out and showed the tape to Nick Patrick, who overruled his decision and the bout continued. Benoit won with a crossface via tap out after Show punched Cena, which Benoit didn't see. Crowd was for Cena early, but most of the way they were quiet and just watching. Benoit totally carried Cena so I think people recognized it and were a little more for Benoit by the end.

    11. Chavo Guerrero b Shelton Benjamin when Eddy interfered with a frog splash. Chavo told Eddy not to come to ringside. Eddy did anyway wearing one of those beer can hats you wear at a football game and reading Smackdown magazine. This was a good match.

    12. Lesnar b Benoit to retain the title in an excellent match. This really should have been on PPV because this had to be among the best WWE TV bouts this year. Ref Hebner was bumped and Benoit got the crossface, and Lesnar tapped but no ref. Lesnar hit the F-5, but Benoit kicked out. Finish saw Lesnar use a chair to the knee and a half crab while wrapping Benoit's leg around his head and Benoit did the Austin-Hart passing out from the pain finish. Lesnar kept putting Benoit in submissions wanting him to tap. Crowd got into Benoit a lot and he got the post-match standing ovation.

SD looks pretty damn good this week, aside from Too Cool vs. Bashams. Way to build up the tag champs, by jobbing them to a comedy team via Samoan Drop.

Velocity doesn't look too good. Akio/Funaki should be good, as well as the tag match, but that's about it. Bradshaw over Rhyno? Psshaw.

It sounds like the Stretch Muffler from the PS2 SmackDown games. If it's so, the move entails hanging the guy upside down by wrapping his leg around the back of your neck. Imagine doing a Torture Rack to a leg and letting the rest of the guy dangle to the mat.

How many times now has Benoit looked "stronger" for losing?

This really does sound like something they should have saved for the Rumble.

Given the ending (use of chair, ref bump meaning Brock tapping was missed) they may well have a rematch lined up for then.

Surely to god they can't be planning on having Hardcore bloody Holly headlining RR.

Maybe Rumble will be when Benoit FINALLY gets the strap ...

If I were betting on the impending Lesnar/Hardcore Holly SD match ... I'd say that Lesnar will have the Big Show and the Green Machines (Jones & Morgan) watching his back ... they'll interfere and this will bring Benoit out for the save ...

Maybe it's leading towards a Benoit/Lesnar submission match at RR, which would be hella-sweet.

That's just what I meant, though. Why not build to the first Brock/Benoit match instead of making the PPV encounter the rematch? WWE's idea of building to a match these days is to show it to you five times before the PPV.

The way it ends, it is building to Brock/Benoit, but I expect this to be a carbon copy of last year's Angle/Benoit match. Benoit does all of his wrestling moves, Brock does all of his wrestling moves, then Brock wins in the end and people talk about how great Benoit looked when things for Benoit haven't changed at all in the last five years.

He's always that guy who will give the champion a good match, and almost win. There's no dynamic element to him and he always goes nowhere.

If Benoit wins, he'll lose it back immediately. To Brock. Once again, we're going in a circle.

So, I'm very curious as to the Nidia/Noble break-up.
I mean, I figured it was invevitable, but what are they going to do with those two? Noble lacks purpose now, and well, Nidia is still blind. I guess someone will have to stand up for Nidia and feud with Jamie, but I have no idea who. I fear it'll be Zack Gowen, in a "we're handi-capable and we've got to stick together" angle.
I know it's tasteless, but I have little faith in Smackdown these days.

The only thing I can think of is that they felt they needed to build more heat for the match by showing Benoit genuinely was able to beat Brock one on one.

Sure Benoit made him tap at SurSer, but it wasn't in a singles match and it wasn't for the belt.

Brock's pretty much been booked as unbeatable, one clean loss to Angle excepting, and even then Angle only got him to tap after he had reached the ropes several times without Angle breaking the hold.

The same can't be said of Benoit who, while booked strongly, has jobbed clean a few times over the last year at one stage or another.

By giving us the match last night they build Benoit not just as the next plucky face to go against the monster, but as Brock's equal and a guy who all things being equal may be the guy to end his 'reign of terror'.

Personally I prefer the idea of guys not really going at each other till the ppv, but I guess this is just meant to be a quick and easy to build Benoit as credible without burying other upper-mid to main event level heels along the way.

They DO have Sable again. All they need is Rikishi to wear a gold mask, and we'd have the Oddities 2004.

The only two things I want to see are Cena/Benoit and Benoit/Lesnar. Everything else looks like total CRAP.

Smackdown has been so damn repetitive. Shannon Moore faces another big guy and gets sqashed. Nidia does this blind shit and Noble gets pissed (this blind thing is incredibly lame). Chavo and Eddie also tease a break-up. Enough already! These same things have been happening for the past 3 weeks. Smackdown is boring and predictable. At least on RAW shocking shit happens like Foley showing up out of nowhere and spicing things up. Its a shame I really was hoping Foley would show up on SD and raise hell. I've officialy changed my mind, SD needs Saage to come an wild out. SD needs the old crazy Savage.

I'm glad there's no Foley on SD. He got old real quick on Raw, so the last thing I'd want is 2 more hours of Foley in practically every segment.

And Savage? No no no.

If the TV shows are good, then people will be more eager to buy the PPV. I know and you know that Lesner vs. Benoit is the coolest thing on God's great Earth, but for all those who didn't realize, now they know why they need to get the Royal Rumble.
