Then after the Super Bowl we were told that Steve Spagnuolo was destined to be the next head coach of the Redskins.
But now Spagnuolo has taken himself out of the running for the Redskins job. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7769774
So now they're reporting that the top candidates are Ron Meeks, DC of the Colts, and retreads Jim Fassel and Steve Mariucci.| Promote this thread! | | It's False

Maybe the Skins can sign Billick and beat the Ravens in the Super Bowl next year. | hansen9j

Nah, they'd have to buy Marvin Lewis out of Cincinnati, and then beat the Bengals.

And the winner is...
Jim Zorn (sports.espn.go.com)
Yes, THAT Jim Zorn, the one who was hired as offensive coordinator 2 weeks ago. A roundabout way to get there, but eventually, the Redskins got their man.
Also, I'd hazard a guess that this might have been Jim Fassel's last chance to get a head coaching gig, and that surprises me. He wasn't anywhere near a failure with the Giants, a couple division titles and a Super Bowl trip. If he's not passing on his own free will, I'm surprised he hasn't gotten another shot at running a team.

It isn't so much Fassel's Giants run that does him in, but the abysmal job he did as Ravens' offensive coordinator has a lot of teams avoiding him like the plague.
