I think Pedro went to Francona (or called him from the bullpen or something) and said "Put me in or I will kill you while you sleep."

After he got settled in, he was hitting 97(!!!) with his fastball. If there's any way we can do it, we need to sign this guy and turn him into a closer.

I liked the part of that inning where right before he reached back for the 97 MPH fastball looked over to where his little friend was and said "Choo no hep me now, I say FUCK YOU, Jobu!"

I might have just imagined that, though.

Good God, thanks for putting Major League in my head. Better yet - "Are you telling me that Jesus Christ can't hit a curve ball?" as Damon hits the Grand Slam.

Of course, that makes me think of Dennis Haysbert in "24" and gives me warm fuzzies at the thought of our current prez stepping down from his re-election campaign. *ahhhhh.*

Call me crazy, but I thought if Pedro pitching the 7th meant they wouldn't have to go to Timlin (though they did) or Foulke then it was a BRILLIANT move to save the bullpen, especially given Leiter's comments that it was his day to throw anyway. I got chills when hit 97 on the gun, and I also wondered why they didn't send Pedro out there for the 8th, since he appeared to be just warming up.

Al Leiter could only be more awesome if the stuck an ice pick in McCarver's temple. Can Deion be an honorary coach for the champs, just to show up with the bucket of ice water?

I would save Arroyo for Game 3 or 4, depending on which one Schilling throws. Arroyo's home/road splits were baffling:

    Home 15 13 3 5 0 0 0 75.2 90 61 45 8 24 58 5.35 1.51 .291
    Away 17 16 7 4 0 0 0 103.0 81 38 35 9 23 84 3.06 1.01 .214

With the way Lowe pitched Game 7, I wouldn't be afraid to throw him out there at home for Game 1 of the WS. I think Wakefield is too valuable coming out of the pen, and the Sox still have four other Good->Great starters.

Looks like its gonna be Wakefield, Schilling, Pedro.

Besides the fact Pedro wouldn't do it, here is one minor concern about him becoming a closer: He was rocked in the first inning he pitched in most games this season, and he was rocked in the first and only inning he pitched last night.
I had no problem putting Martinez in though, as it was either him or Leskanic to bridge the game, and getting out of Game 4 alive with Leskanic to Bernie with the bases loaded made me not want them to try to tempt fate again.

After the sweep of the Marlins, the Nats won three out of four from the Braves (starting with the aforementioned Bergmann gem), giving us wins in six out of our last seven games.
