100th episode tomorrow night!

(description from southparkstudios.com -- not really spoiling anything)

South Park's 100th Episode
Episode 701: I'm A Little Bit Country
The boys join some anti-war protesters because itís a free pass out of school for the day. Their simple plan to protest their way out of class goes south when they find themselves in the middle of the two opposing sides of the war issue. Meanwhile, Cartman tries to have a flashback to 1776 to avoid studying for his American History assignment.

Meanwhile, dMp wrote:

So Kenny is back, as I said I haven't followed it in a bit. Why was he gone? I assume he died and didn't return the next episode?

In episode 513, "Kenny Dies," Kenny... well... gets sick and dies. Instead of the Disposable Kenny Syndrome from previous episodes, this time it's taken seriously, and it's actually kind of poignant (at least until Cartman hits a new low in the ending sequence).

That was first aired in... let's see... December 2001, so Kenny stayed dead until episode 617, "Red Sleigh Down," just over one year later. He hasn't died since, though they had me wondering if they'd go there when he snorted the alien cocaine in "Cancelled."

"Let me put it another way. In support of our troops, I recently offered one of my angry correspondents on this issue a bet: I will try my damnedest to keep her son out of combat in the Gulf, and she will continue to support the president's war drive. Whoever keeps her son alive longest, wins." -- Ben Tripp, CounterPunch

Wow, I didn't believe you at first, but Kenny was dead for a whole year! I guess I'm glad he's back and all, but seriously, last season was one of the best ever and part of that had to do with Kenny being dead. For example, Butters never would have gotten so much air time without Kenny beong dead. Plus, there was some great moments involving Kenny's soul being trapped in Cartman's body. Oh well, this season's been pretty good so far. Can't wait for number 100.

Brilliant episode last night. Highlights were Cartman's flashback, and the hilarious ending.

I agree with Tom, great show last night. Several years ago, I could never have seen myself saying this, but I offically think South Park now is funnier than The Simpsons. (this is based on current episode vs current episode of course, not based on the classic Conan O Brian "Monorail" episode)

This was the first time I've caught a new South Park in quite sometime. I'm glad to see Kenny back, sorry guys Butters sucked. Not only that not seeing him die at the end of every episode is nice as well, maybe it's the white trash in me that loves Kenny so much.

Where the hell did Mr. Slave come from? I thought the kids moved up a grade and had a new teacher as well.

The Slave came in for Mr. Garrison after he became fully gay, and he wanted to get fired so he could sue the school for firing him for being gay. And the boys did move up a grade and got a new teacher called Mrs. Choksondik but they killed her off.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. I used to catch a South Park episode here and there, but for the past few years haven't been into them much. Then one day I downloaded an episode of Kazaa from like the 5th season, loved it, and now have 40 or so episodes, Butter's Very Own Episode probably being my favorite. I guess my heart is still with the glory years of the Simpsons, but with their new episodes not being that great and the Simpsons in syndication on FOX in Philadelphia not showing any episodes before 2000, I am appreciating South Park more and more.

Yeah, she died in the "The Simpsons Did It" episode, where every time Professor Chaos does a plan, it turns out it's one that's already been done on the Simpsons. When Butters goes crazy in that episode, and all the characters turn Simpsons-esque, that's just hilarious.

Yeah, and Mr. Slave. Mr. Garrison did everything he could to be fired, and everyone just accepted it from him because he was gay. One of their many "statement" episodes lately.

ACTUALLY, she dies in the previous episode, Professor Chaos. They just don't really touch on it until the next one.

"America may have some problems, but it's our home. Our team. And if you don't wanna root for your team...then you should get the hell out of the stadium. Go America." --Stan Marsh, South Park

Wish I could show you guys my "South Park Makeovers."

For awhile in 1998, it was absolutely scary how well one week's episode of South Park would mesh with some legitimate news story my station covered that week. So when I had some free time on my hands while editing overnight for the morning show, I put pieces of each together...and it was f'n magic.

I brought the gimmick back in 2001 for a mega-makeover using the post-9/11 episode and a lot of local & national coverage...not to brag, but DAMN it's funny. Might be the best stuff I ever put together...too bad it can never be broadcast. The station'd fire and sue me concurrently.

Maybe if y'all ever come up to the Green Bay area. :-)

I just saw last week's episode on repeat. The end was great as was Cartman traveling back in time. The rest was ok. I loved the line about the waving the flag of hyprocise, high. There is some truth in that having protests doesn't show that all Americans are evil just the administrations. It gives other countries a sense of hope that we will turn it around even though Syria is next on the Middle East hit parade.

The best part of the entire episode was Kyle just shaking his head and saying how much he hated this town. I thought the boys' fustruation summed up the last 100 episodes. The kids just want to be kids yet they are stuck being the parents and moral authority in the town. Perhaps the point of the show is that kids are not as stupid as well think and adults are not as smart as they should be.

A Fan- Just philosophing there at the end.

Reuters ran a nice story on South Park...yes I AM too lazy to make the link look pretty.

South Park is our "office" show...everybody has their favorite shows, but this is the one that we ALL make time to see. I don't know if laugh more at the show, or during our discussions of it the next day.

Honor demands that I challenge that proclamation! I have been a loyal fan ever since I first heard of the show during the first season. I've recorded every show I could (although that means less now that the seasons are coming out on DVD, but still...) and now have 92 of the 100 shows. If you actively cut out the commercials, (without this newfangled Tivo nonsense) they run between 21:50 and 21:55 and you can fit 16 shows on a 6 hour tape. Just as Just as I am known as the wrestling "expert" among those at work who care, so am I with South Park. More people here care about South Park than wrestling, now that I think about it.

How this is relevant to anything important is a question for another time.
