For the love of God who wrote this crap under the assumption that all Janice/all the time was a good idea? No Paulie for another week, one wonders if it is punishment for the Stacker commercials. And, if your going to get a jockey from Belmont, use Bailey or Chavez, I mean Gryder, I wouldn't even bet him in the garbage days of winter on the inner track at Aqueduct. More violence/less Janice (unless the violence is on Janice) is definately needed. Any way to raise Richie and Jackie Jr. from the dead at this point?

I think we all learned a valuable lesson about trying to hang an entire episode on Aida Turturro and Drea DeMatteo's acting ability. I may be forced to recant my "Meadow is the worst character" on the show after the appaling unspooling of the "FBI uses Adrianna" plot.

Maybe this episode was a homage to "Seinfeld"--it was about nothing. And raise your hands everyone who thinks we'll never hear about Tony's ability to pick the horses again?

I've heard rumors, and that's all they are at, mind you, that Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts) was sick during the shooting of the early half of the current season (he sued one of the tabloids for saying it was cancer - which kinda makes me think it probably was), and the show was re-written to reduce his exposure in the early episodes, hence his out-of-nowhere prison sentence.

And I don't have problem with Janice or Adriana, persay, but I'd really like to see them focus on more members of the cast once in a while? Where the fuck is Dr. Melphi? And does Tony even have a son anymore?

***SPOILERS IF YOU DON'T WATCH THE NEXT WEEK TEASER***
Although, Gloria's going to be back next week, and that should be interesting, at least...

I always thought that part of the "idea" of the Sopranos is that even if you are a mob boss and involved in organized crime, you still have the same oridinary problems as any other guy:

1. You and your wife fuss over where you go and what's in the savings account.

2. You have friends and family who are assholes and addicts and are disfunctional.

3. Your teenage daughter makes all the decisions you don't want her to.

4. Your teenage son is disinterested and troubled.

I could be wrong--but that's usually my take, especially when things slow down somewhat.

That's fine, for one week. When it gets to four of the first five weeks, it starts to get annoying. Why the hell would a mob boss take a phone call from a maid? That's reason enough to have Ralph whacked. And I know being in a rain storm with a horse and a goat is Pat Patterson's dream night, but for some reason its not where Tony Soprano should be.

"This is not the Janice Show! This is not the Adrianna Show!"

...okay, I couldn't get the rest of the quote. Couldn't find it in CRZ's recaps. And yet, the search was still more interesting than a good part of this week's episode. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, they're fine in small doses, but enough already. I hope this wasn't to fill the time where Paulie was unavailable.

The show has sucked so much this year, it didn't even rate back room vcr this week. I taped Law & Order: Criminal Intent on the back room vcr (the former home of WCW Nitro taping) while flipping between Dolphins vs Broncos and Giants vs Cards on the living room tv. I'll catch a rebroadcast during the week and give it the old "McMahon-Helmsley Era Fast Forward Treatment".

You're gonna regret that. They're definitely building up a lot of potentially awesome stuff (Tony and Christopher, Adriana helping the FBI, Carmella and Furio, Janice and Ralphie, Johnny Sack and Ralphie, Tony and Paulie, Tony and Silvio, etc., etc.), and eventually, this is gonna be huge. As opposed to some people (*cough* McMahon *cough*), David Chase has earned my trust, and I'm confident he's going somewhere with this.

EDIT: To use more wrestling terminology, it's a slow burn! Remember how awesome Kane and Taker's first match was? It wasn't even that good, if you go back and watch it again, but it was built up so well and for so long that, when it finally happened, it meant so much more.

Not to say that I'm not in agrreement that *something* needs to happen, like, now.

Slow burn is fine, if it involves characters people cared about. When they had Richie getting ready each week to challenge Tony's leadership, there was purpose that could be detected, plus gratutous violence, to satisfy the audience. If it was only the Adrianna/FBI storyline, I could live with it, because it will build to something bigger. But when you throw in half the show revolving around Janice and who she has a crush on, there is no greater point being built to. And please, for the love of God, we need someone to get whacked or to take a brutal beating.

I'm with OldFuzzyBastard--when this blows, its gonna be big and you may want to be able to go back a re-watch older episodes to see stuff that you missed the first time. I think the "slow build" *ahem* makes the viewer anticipation more heightened. Tension is good. But, if you're bored, hey there's Sunday Night Football, right?

Uncle Junior rules.

The horse ending this week was stupid.

Also, I noticed in some of the episodes, Meadow and AJ aren't even in it. Is that good or bad?

The "slow burn" theory is one thing. If every single episode pushed towards an inevitable blowup that would be one thing.

But so far It hasn't come and for the past 32 weeks it looks even less likely. The sack plot gets pushed to the point where something's gonna happen, and it doesn't. The whole "Paulie's talking out of shcool plotline" was dropped for. . .Tony to get in touch with his inner horse?

So I'm a bit skeptical that this ia all part of a grand plan. Especially not with that asinine Anabella Sciorra plot rearing its ugly head again next week.

I think it is stupid to bring Gloria back. They ended it perfectly last time with Patsy scaring the bejeezus out of her. Why in the world would Tony go back to that headcase?

I have a feeling because Sciorra wanted to be back on the show. Ah, politics.

And how does THIS further any plot? Is this part of the slow burn? The most dreadfully inept part of Season 3 (and that's saying something)not involving meadow and here it is back.

Oh well. At least Tony's not a necrophile.

My thing is, Uncle Jr is, as Tony and he will tell you "on trial for his life" and STILL we get no info as to what the hell is going on with the trial. All we get is him, giving the sketch artist the evil eye? WHAT THE FUCK!

I did without HBO for years and had to get copies of the show to keep up, this year, with all the hype, I went back and got HBO, now I am regretting that choice.

Fuck janice in her fat ass! Get her and that fat crying bastard off my TV, and get on with some decent stories.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Brian Gerwitz is writing the Sopranos?

Spoilers for this Sunday's episode (written by Vince Russo):

1. The judge in Junior's trial attacks Junior in the courtroom, then unmasks to reveal himself as Livia Soprano, back from the dead (with the Goldberg chant being piped in while she runs down Junior).

2. David Arquette whacks Tony behind the Badda Bing and becomes head of the family.

3. Carmella finds out she is being used by Furio so he can get into AJ's pants.

4. Paulie is our of jail and now a waiter at Artie Bucco's with no explanation at all.

5. The girls from "Sex in the City" come out of nowhere and attack Christopher, Patsy, and Silvio.

6. Half of the show revolves around KISS playing live at Adrianna's club and they do the entire soundtrack.

7. The character of Bobby Baccala is now being played by Jeff Jarrett.
