Sort of surprised that there is no thread already, but last night's episode was pretty strong and set up the series finale quite well.

I won't miss Bobby at all, but I will miss Sylvio. Bobby was a bumbling moron, I'm just sorry that they didn't get Janice too.

Carmela's reaction was strange. Instead of being worried about her husband, she was more worried about doing the socially appropriate things. I'm sort of hoping that something knocks her off her high horse and she discovers a bit of humility. And why do they send her desert because her unbelievably hot daughter has a boyfriend?

Aw, c'mon, how can you hate on Bobby? He's the nicest guy in Tony's crew. That scene after Tony makes him do his 1st hit, where he comes back to the lake house & all he wants to do is hug his daughter like his life depended on it, all the life drained out of his eyes - how can you not like the guy after that?

He married Janice. I don't like Janice. I agree that Bobby is a good, loving father. I just always thought that he was a lazy bumbling fool. Plus I despise Janice, did I mention that?

I absolutely hate Janice, too. But I give Bobby a break, since she sorta' took advantage of him while he was on the rebound and got him to marry her. He probably felt a need to get a mother for his kids. Bobby's a bit dim-witted, but a good guy. You had to like him when he dressed up in full-on camo gear to go search for Christopher and Paulie in the woods, way back in Season 3.

Sil was awesome and his character was fun, but the guy was a scumbag. He wasted Adrianna, for poop's sake. So he got what was coming to him.

Since it's such an unconventional show, I wouldn't be shocked if the finale ends on a down note. Maybe Tony's back at his house for whatever reason, then gets blown away by Phil's goons and falls to the bottom of his empty pool?

I'm hard pressed to see how they fit it all into an hour this Sunday. Once they showed Bobby goin in the shop by himself, I knew he was a goner.

Sil was a surprise, but again, once they showed him get in the car, I knew something bad was gonna happen.

The Melfi thing was a shock, and laughed when Tony called her immoral.

This season is a lot better than last, and now I don't want it to end.

There's sooooooooo much going on right now. So much foreshadowing that I barely want to point to the stuff I'm seeing.

There's too many fishy things going on with Paulie. First, Phil spares him. He got all pissy about not being included in the decision to go to war. He was the guy responsible for making sure the Italian imports whacked Phil, which didn't happen (was Phil tipped off??). And Tony's had his suspicions about Paulie for a good while, stemming back to Paulie repeating Tony's joke about Ginny (unless I'm getting her name wrong) and then lying about it. Not only that, but Paulie's already made overtures at one time to Phil about working for him.

Either way, as soon as Tony spared Paulie a few episodes ago, I figured that would figure into Tony's downfall. It's straight out of a Shakespearean plot.

The question is... is Paulie a mole for Phil? And if so, will he be the root of Tony's tragic downfall, or will Tony kill him first?

As it stands, Paulie is in the same house as Tony right now, so if he IS a mole, then Phil will certainly find out where they're staying. It's the only thing that makes sense to me right now. It resolves some of the open-ended storylines that have been fairly prominent this season. And it explains why Paulie was spared by Phil. There's no way Bobby can be seen as the #3, when Paulie has always been in that role and never lost it.

Whatever is the case, there are so many open-ended questions to be answered, and Sunday can't come soon enough. With Entourage out of the way, it won't be a surprise if Sopranos runs a lot longer than they've gone in the past for a finale.

Paulie's not flipping to NY. If you remember a few seasons ago, Johnny Sack made some overtures to Paulie. Later, there was a big party where both NY & NJ crews attended, and Paulie introduced himself to Carmine Sr., who had no idea who Paulie was. Paulie realized Johnny was just pumping him for dirt on NJ, and felt like a complete douche. Couple that with the Paulie/Tony episode from earlier this season, and there's no way that Paulie sells out Tony for NY.

With Entourage out of the way, it won't be a surprise if Sopranos runs a lot longer than they've gone in the past for a finale.

The schedule for the episode says 9:00 - 10:05.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"Yep....and was it really necessary having the woman keep glancing down at his penis?" (Kevintripod)

Something else I just thought of... considering the difference in management styles between Johnny Sack and Phil Leotardo... any chance of a mutiny in New York? Or was there one and it already got stamped out?

I'm 99.99% sure that was Ralph's joke that Paulie repeated to Johnny Sack, it's just always stuck in Tony's craw that Johnny found out about that joke.

I just think that the writers are doing a good job of making Paulie look doubtful. I think at his core Paulie is loyal to Tony and thinks of him as family. If anything, I think Paulie has just been jealous of Christopher and Bobby.

I had heard that the last episode would run close to 2 hours, but I'm sad to see that it's only slotted for 65 minutes.

I think Paulie could end up going a couple of ways. One he could have a change of heart at the last minute and take a bullet for Tony, they could also do the Carlito's Way ending having him get popped after leading Phil to Tony. Then again he could just be with the Feds, and that is why he wanted Sil and Bobby to say who actually gave orders for the hit on Phil.

Sil might have been a scumbag, but he is one of the best #2 guys of all #2 guys. Who wouldn't want him on their side.

The family could really use a sober Chris right now. It's a shame he couldn't keep his shit together.

I could also see Little Carmine swooping in and taking NY, or an Arab terrorist attack halting the war (which would be weak).

I can see myself not being happy with the outcome, but I'm pretty sure I will be satisfied with it.

OK, after hours of intense thinking, these are my predictions for the Sopranos finale. Be prepared to be amazed (maybe).....

- Patsy Parisi is the "mole". His son is dating Meadow in order to have her set up to be killed by Phil's crew (car bomb, maybe?). He has some resentment towards Tony from earlier in the series when he was convinced that Tony had had his twin brother killed. Also, it was Patsy that was in charge of the Phil hit that we know was botched. Notice how when the guy called Patsy to say that the hit was messed up, Patsy feigned surprise but then called Paulie right afterwards and said it was "done". This was to have the Jersey crew drop their guards and also to not look for Phil, who is in hiding. And notice how the two goons who (nearly) killed Silvio just happened to run out of ammo when they were about to shoot Patsy? Patsy will likely get whacked by Tony afterwards.

- AJ is kidnapped by Phil's crew but manages to escape, possibly killing his captor. There is also an attempt to blow up the Soprano house, possibly with AJ being the target.

- Silvio hangs on for a little while, but eventually dies.

- Tony visits Junior in the State hospital to bury the hatchet. Junior dies shortly thereafter.

- One of Tony's "soldiers" (possibly Bennie) finds Phil out in public at a gas station or supermarket where he is hiding out and murders him. Bennie would be the likely "whacker" because he is due payback for Phil hospitalizing him after beating his ass right after Phil and his brother were shot in an earlier season.

- After many of Phil's crew (and Phil) get wiped out, Phil's two closest associates call for a truce. Tony agrees to meet for a peace offering and winds up slaughtering the both of them. Little Carmine helps Tony turn on Phil's crew, but somehow gets himself killed in the process.

- Paulie turns out to be loyal to the end and possibly saves Tony. Tony then puts his full trust in him, steps down as Boss, and Paulie takes over the Jersey Crew. Tony then "retires" with Carm and AJ and lets Paulie deal with the stress of running a mob crew.

- The FBI arrests nobody.

- There will eventually be at least one Sopranos movie... and possibly a "prequel" to Tony's pre-Boss days.

Dead: Phil, Butch/Al (the two close associates), Little Carmine, Meadow, Patsy, Silvio, and Junior.

Survivors: Tony, Carmela, AJ, Paulie, Carlo, Janice, Benny.

So, ..... I will either look like a genius or a total moron.

As far as I can remember, this was the first time that any other NYC families were mentioned.

If the rumors of a movie are true, then the glorified crew would still need a "villain" for the big screen.

I agree that Meadow (the only redeemable Soprano) is going to bite it.

At this point Tony would embrace death:

His wife hates him.
His son's a wuss.
His therapist abandoned him.

I think there would be no better penance for Tony to pay than to continue being miserable.

Paranoid about future NYC retribution, and the inevitable federal case being brought against him.
