The long-rumoured PSP2 has finally been officially announced under the codename of NGP, for Next-Generation Portable.

The bullet points:
- dual analog sticks
- a 5-inch OLED display (960x544 resolution -- 4x the PSP's)
- 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS
- front touchscreen and rear touchpad
- the same six-axis motion system that propels the Move, plus a three-axis compass
- front and rear cameras
- games offered on new flash memory-based cards
- scheduled to be out in time for Christmas

A picture and full specs are here.

Meanwhile, the Xperia Play is the also-long-rumoured PSP Phone. Engadget has a working prototype and an extensive writeup. I don't believe this has even officially been announced by Sony yet.

If you want Sony content on your Android phone, Sony has also announced the PlayStation Suite, which will provide PlayStation content (starting with PS1 games) to other devices.

The PSP2 looks great from what I saw.

I'm just worried Sony will pull a Sony and try to sell it for like $350 or something.

If the price is right, I'm interested.

If they follow thru on the Playstation Suite with a big enough library, that could be pretty interesting. The Kindle model is way to go - do your own device, but get the software on as many other devices as possible. I doubt I'm getting another handheld device, but I'd probably pick up a good PS1 game if I could carry it on my phone.

Click Here (joystiq.com) for a nice juicy rumor; consider yourself worried.

$300 - $350 total.

Good luck trying to beat the 3DS with a machine that costs more, Sony.
