Because I don't want to make one post for each.

After this season, Reggie Miller is calling it quits so he can join Ewing, Barkley, Stockton and others in the NBA Ringless Legends Club.

Karl Malone? Well, don't sign him up for that club yet since he's about to sign with the Spurs. I still say the Spurs don't need him.

Scratch that. never mind. Add Malone to the Ringless Legends Club. He has officially retired..

Alonzo Mourning and the Raps are discussing a buyout which paves the way for him to go back to Miami.

Eric Williams would rather be in NAWLINS than TO.

Rafer Alston: Artest-In-Training.

Time for some trade rumors starring Mr. Softee himself, Keith Van Horn.

NBA TV credit for Wacky Keith Van Horn Trade Rumor #1:
Van Horn and others to the Lakers for Brian Grant and others.

Credit TNT's David Aldridge for Wacky Keith Van Horn Trade Rumor #2:
Van Horn back to the Sixers for Glenn Robinson who goes back to Milwaukee.

Who will be the Lakers Head Coach??? IMO, it's either Larry Brown or Phil Jackson. Yes, THAT Phil Jackson. Stay tuned for more DRAMA~!

If there's one weakness that the Spurs have, it's nothing having that much in the frontcourt besides Duncan... Malik Rose is a good backup, but Rasho is an offensive liability and Robert Horry is nearing the end of the line. Malone may be old, but he's still in great shape and can provide another solid post presence for them off the bench.

Reggie's retirement is sad to me. Reggie is the last piece from the NBA glory years that last from the time Magic and Bird's rivalry picked up in the pros to the time Jordan nailed the shot over Russell to give the Bulls their sixth title. I guess Malone is still hanging around possibly, but he's not with the Jazz so he does nothing for me.

I don't like the NBA now, with players' inability to shoot, pass or play defense (I do enjoy watching the Suns play, from the two games I've seen). Give me Reggie shooting an awesome turn-around three over Jordan to win game four of the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals, as one example of the NBA at its best.

There's way too many awesome Reggie moments for me to recap, and we all know about one of the greatest clutch athletes in history (as well as basketball's deadliest three-point shooter), so I'll just say that I hated the Knicks back when I actually cared about the league, so Reggie was something of a hero to me.

Actually, I've never had as much fun watching a Heat season as I've had this year, and it's not just because they're winning, because sometimes the Zo-Hardaway-Mashburn teams were difficult to watch, and those teams won in the regular season, at least (no comments from the Knicks fans in the peanut gallery, por favor). But a lot of the credit with that has to go to Wade and Shaq, since I love watching both of them play the game.

I know he was reacting to being put on the spot, but Reggie really looks like a dick for going off on Craig Sager when he reported that very news earlier this year. He totally threw Sager under the bus, and it turns out that apparently Sager was right on.

I'm SURE we'll see Reggie apologizing to Sager on the next "Inside the NBA". (Right after SAGER apologizes to the world. For his wardrobe.)

For what it's worth considering this is the second or third time this story's run, the word now is that Malone has decided to call it a career.

I think the NBA in general is a lot more fun than those Mourning/Hardaway days. The Heat are fun to watch, I love the Shaq/Wade combo as well Jones, Jones, and Haslem. The Kings are still fun to watch, Mavericks are still fun to watch, Suns are fun to watch. I enjoy the Pistons, even the Baby Bulls are compelling. The return of Grant Hill in Orlando is good. Memphis and Washington have some good young teams. And then other places you've got star players who are a joy to watch like Duncan, Garnett, Lebron. It might not be as good as the Magic/Bird/Jordan days, but I definitely think the NBA is far better than it was just a few years ago.

To be fair, I haven't watched much since 2001. I've watched maybe 15 games this year, hardly a big sample. That said, it still looks to me like the "Player X goes down the floor, dribbles, dribbles, dribbles some more, oh shit the shot clock is running out he better throw up a horrible shot and miss more than half the time" league.

Mourning has played a total of 30 games under a contract that will end up paying him $17 million. That means that Mourning earned $566,666 per game under the contract

So even though Mourning is giving up roughly $5 million to get out of his contract, his per-game total was the richest in NBA history.

Unfucking real. What were the Nets thinking when they offered this thing?

And didn't the Nets sign him after he'd already retired once because of his kidney transplant? And they signed him to try and make Jason Kidd happy and keep him in Jersey, right?

Boy, are they looking stupid now.

On the other hand, I heard on "Inside the NBA" yesterday that Mourning's likely destination is Miami. That'd be interesting, having 'Zo back up Shaq. Of course, 'Zo isn't the same 'Zo.

Reggie Miller retiring... *sigh*. I'd say "thanks for the memories, Reg," but that wouldn't be saying nearly enough-- and the season ain't over yet. I wouldn't be so quick to add him to the list of Ringless Legends, yet, either. Last I checked, we were still a week away from the All-Star break. Until the Pacers' season is over, I don't ever say "maybe next year".

But after this year, Reggie's #31 needs to be raised to the rafters of Conseco Fieldhouse. And for that matter, put Rik Smits' #45 up there already! Sheesh, he's been retired for nearly five years!

If Mourning signs with the Heat, they will have the top three picks from the 1992 draft on the same team. (Shaq #1, 'Zo #2, Laettner #3) They should've traded for Jim Jackson, too.

From the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel's website as confirmed by Riley, Zo has cleared waivers and his joining the Heat (probably to be activated after the All-Star Break) will happen.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-zo021505,0,3820788.story?coll=sfla-sports-heat

My $0.02 (and feel free to preface all statements with "if healthy"): I like what this gives Miami coming off the bench, in that all he has to do is give them about 15 minutes a night to anchor the defense and give them an insurance policy if Shaq gets into foul trouble.

It's a good pickup, and it's a piece of depth that they needed, but it's still a long way until the playoffs start.
