Went to the taping today at Davis Arena and there were a few odds and ends that may be of interest to people here:
As some of you know, every year OVW does a series of shows at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in the summer, and that at each show they feature a WWE wrestler. They announced tonight that Kurt Angle will be appearing at the first Six Flags show on June 2nd. If this works like it has in previous years, Kurt will not only be in a match, but sign autographs for the fan club members before the show and may even do a few autographs afterwards as well.
The video/DVD sale that OVW is having is occuring at the tapings, only the tapes and discs are half off if you buy them there (for example, the monthly DVDs are $5 instead of $10 if bought through the mail). There was also a two-hour "ECW - Best of Amish Roadkill" VHS tape for sale for $10, which was tempting to get.
Ken Kennedy appeared on the show and announced the main event match between Shad Gasper and CM Punk. Punk won, only to have Kennedy smash the Championship belt into his head. Looks like Kennedy may be going into a feud with Punk for a bit until he's ready to go back up. Beth Phoenix and Shelly also made appearances during the show. The Miz seems to be improving in-ring, but his promos need a lot of work still.
Signs were up announcing special appearances of some of the OVW wrestlers at the Wick's Pizza parlors around the area. Deuce Shade, with Domino and Cherry were supposed to be at one after the show tonight and Kasey James and another wrestler at a different location this weekend.
Like I said, some minor notes, really. Looking forward to seeing Angle come June 2nd.

Ugh, that's not good news. Weren't his promos supposed to be the whole point? Surely they're not thinking he's a good idea just because he was on the Real World, like 118 other people. Besides, isn't Smackdown a popular TV show? Why is it a big deal to bring in someone who was in another TV show that wasn't really much more popular, if at all?
To me, the defining Miz moment came during Tough Enough, when everybody had to cut an in-ring promo about something or other for 30 seconds and Miz blew the entire allotted time getting in his stupid catchphrases.
I think what killed Miz's heat this week was that he had already done two long promos backstage that got little reaction from the audience and then immediately cut another in the ring that seemed to drag on for a good length of time. All this after Punk, Stevens and Kennedy had each cut a promo earlier in the show. The students tried building him some heat with a "Shut up!" chant, but the rest of the audience seemed to be just tired of all the promos and no action happening in the ring.
BTW, just saw on the OVW website that they've reduced the price of the 1999 - 2005 VHS monthly videos to $6.95, in case anyone is interested.
Hooray! Although I was about to accept the position as his replacement based on a self-esteem boost from FleaRZ. He did put over Rey twice and Lashley at what ended up being the end of his active in ring career.
