| #1 Posted on 31.10.04 1331.23 | Instant Rating: 2.34 | Marvel will be reprinting MIRACLEMAN and Neil Gaimen will be finishing it off properly. Those of us who still remember the series are happy about it.
Dan Jurgens (perhaps my favorite writer/artist working in comics today) will be drawing a new series called Combat Zone about the war in Iraq.
Avengers Disassembled craps (cancel!) over into the X-titles (please cancel!) with Scarlet Witch joining (pretty please cancel!) Excalibur in issue #9.
Paul Jenkins is leaving Spectacular Spider-Man due to his health and Marvel is cancelling the title as not to let anyone else take it over.
Liefeld is working on ANOTHER X-Force mini series for next year. I didn't think THIS one was selling all that well.
DC is cancelling Monolith(which was pretty good), Richard Dragon(Which should have been better), and Plastic Man. On a plus side, Chuck Dixon looks like he'll stay on Nightwing after Year One.
Marvel is restarting Power Pack for the Marvel Age line. I could not be any more happier about this. Emma Frost is also being switched over as a Marvel Age book which is saving it from cancellation.
Beta Ray Bill is getting a mini series next year. Michael Avon Oeming is writing.
---
And lastly, I'm helping a friend of mine sell off some graphic novels. I've already put some stuff up on Ebay, but there's still about 50 or so more books. If you want or need anything, I'll see if he has it, but it's mostly newer stuff from the past year or so. Teen Titans, Sandman: Endless Nights, Exiles, The Ultimates #1 and #2... you name it almost.

| #4 Posted on 31.10.04 1809.03 | Instant Rating: 6.60 | Don't hold your breath on the Miracleman thing, yet. The fact that he's not the "mystery appearance" at the end of Avengers #503 (as rumored...sorry if that spoiled it for anyone) leads me to believe that all the "I"s and "T"s still haven't been dotted and crossed yet to free up the reprints / conclusion. I'd love to see it though...back in the 80s I used to order stuff from a company called American Comics and they gave me free issues of Miracleman #1 and #2, which I still have to this day and regretted never collecting.
Sad to see Jenkins run on Spider-Man come to an end. Here's hoping that he successfully battles whatever physical problem is causing his stepping back. Gotta say that I'm not excited by him introducing Spidey's "movie-style organic" web shooters and "improved" spider-sense as the result of this last arc.
Finally, over in the DC Universe, just wanted to say that I loved the first issue of Green Lantern: Rebirth. It looks like they are not going to gloss over the fact that Hal Jordan is a former mass murderer / supervillain and not everyone will be willing to forgive and forget. Growing up following Hal, it's surreal and a bit creepy to see him potentially back, and thankfully Johns is embracing that aura.

Can I say HOLY SHIT here? I will say HOLY SHIT here.
I'm a little surprised by this for two reasons -- that the legal rights to the character and the previously published stories will have been sufficiently hashed out, and that they'd publish the sheer carnage that Kid Miracleman dished out under the Marvel flag. Heavy stuff.

The Pulse:
Plastic Man's September sales: 11,626 Richard Dragon's September sales: 13,164 Monolith's September sales: 10,301
DC's highest seller, Superman/Batman, sold ~139,000 copies in September. Y: The Last Man sold 26,735, 100 Bullets sold 16,413 and DC's lowest selling regular (non-cartoon) comic, Touch, sold 5,214 copies and was cancelled, too.
Heck, DC's total cancellations: Plastic Man (11K), Richard Dragon (13K), Monolith (10K), Touch (5K), Fraction (5K) & Kinetic (7K, gone after #9). Remember that DC is run by AOL Time Warner and can survive lower sales numbers, while Marvel has to axe anything that will cost them money...like the recent cancellations of Mary Jane (15K), Thor: Son of Asgard (18K), Silver Surfer (20K), Venom (24K), Warlock (24K), Weapon X (25K) & Emma Frost (27K). Not all were formally announced, as some titles are just absent from the upcoming solicits.

If Plastic Man goes, it will indeed suck. But I can understand it, considering it has dropped almost half it's readership since the beginning of the year... and it was being outsold be HERO at the end by a good margin (which is also canceled).
I sure will miss it....

I assume this means they'll move away from the Greg Horn pin-up covers.
