There are always prediction threads under Wrestling so how about here. Questions for a prediction. 1. Who secures enough electoral votes to win the Presidency and how close is it? 2. Who wins the popular vote? 3. Which party ends up controlling the Senate? 4. What happens to the House?
I ask because really I'm not sure. I think the GOP keeps the House. The Senate is a toss up. I can see Clinton winning the electoral vote and either being dead even with Trump on the popular vote. I can also see Trump winning barely. I am waiting to see what is rolled out today.
1 - Clinton 2 - Clinton, but closer than the electoral vote 3 - Republicans 4 - Republicans
My biggest hope in all of this is that we end up getting some 'cross-aisle' friendships built as nearly everyone will realize that this was a horrible election season, and that we're better off if we try to work together instead of working against each other.
Yeah, I realize that's pretty rose-colored glasses of me.

1. Clinton in a closer race than it should be. The Democrats just have too many electoral votes locked up due to demographics. 2. Clinton, again, in a surprisingly close vote. 3. Democrats, but only by about 3-4 seats, so more of the same. 4. Republicans hang on here, so again, more of the same.
BONUS EXTENDED 12" MIX PREDICTION: No third party candidate cracks 5%. Gary Johnson comes the closest, but the two-party system remains intact.
I'd love it if both parties sat down and made the hard decisions to retake their direction from the radical fringe elements, but I don't see that happening any time soon. They're both incentivized to tee off on the other. Maybe we can at least see them trying to build up their farm teams so we get candidates people can vote for, instead of the least worst option that survives the primary meat grinder.

As a Brit who studied American Politics at school (admittedly 22 years ago), I've always been interested in your elections way more than my own, so I'll give this a go.
Presidentially: 1) Clinton to get low 300's in Electoral College - significantly less than either of Obama's wins however. 2) Clinton to win popular vote by 2.5 to 3%. I don't think the FBI e-mails will have as much affect on the result as many others do.
However, down ballot is where I think the Republicans will do way better than expected.
3) I can see it being a tied Senate (Kaine with casting vote) or if not, a 1 seat majority for the Republicans. 4) Reps to lose hardly any seats in the House and so still have a comfortable majority.
Given that, the answer to the overarching question "So, What Will Happen?" is obvious: Four more years of gridlock. Sorry to say it, but two parties further apart than ever and no matter who wins, a President immediately unpopular with probably 60% of the country (I'm making the assumption that at least 10% of both Democrats and Republicans are just voting for their party despite actively disliking their candidate) - it's going to be hard to get anything done quickly.
My biggest hope in all of this is that we end up getting some 'cross-aisle' friendships built as nearly everyone will realize that this was a horrible election season, and that we're better off if we try to work together instead of working against each other.
Yeah, I realize that's pretty rose-colored glasses of me.
1. Trump. He gets 280. PA and North Carolina go via a slim margin. 2. Clintion. The West and East Coast population will get her to 50%. 3. Gop will have 53. 4. House will stay Red.
It is honestly too close to call at this point. I think the polls are a bit slanted, plus there's a LOT of people who will vote for Trump that will not admit to it publicly.
I think the Senate stays barely in the hands of the GOP, and I think the House stays firmly GOP.
I sure as hell can't cough up my vote for Hillary or Trump. The fact that Trump, an (alleged) billionaire asks people to donate money and Hillary takes money from the Saudis kinda tells a story...I've known a lot of cons in my life, but nothing like this
If he still has my number GURU should call and ask me why he didn't bet when he had the chance. I'll tell him. They had Trump beat when he decided to be somebody and there ain't nothing left for him but to be relegated to the sidelines in abject ignominy
Hey Cubs - sweet win. Now trade Theo to the Dodgers. One is enough, lest we be like Boston. You never hear the end of it from that crowd

I didnt want to be right. I just know that once you appeal to a people's fear and vanity they tend to vote for you. The economy will crash by Christmas and unemployment will be at 20%. Russia and England will be our BFFs and we will nuke someone. I hope those predictions are wrong, but I doubt.
Good job on the predictions lotjx. This election had less to do with Clinton, Trump, or Obama and a lot to do with people in general being tired of politicians as a whole. Roles reversed, had someone like, say, Jon Stewart ran, he would've beaten the traditional GOP candidate as well. I'm less frightened about Trump than I am about what this does to the Supreme Court. This one is on the liberal media, the liberal elite, the Clinton campaign, and the entire DNC. Own that shit and look for ways to change in 2 years, then again in 4.
Maybe the world chose to put a non-lifelong politician in instead of someone who has played the politics game her whole life. Throw the bums out might have happened at the highest level of US politics.
I agree totally. I just wish the right-wing and left-wing for that matter would wake up and realize that no matter how well-intended, you can't legislate behavior, whether it's abortion and drugs or bad eating habits.
