Ahh, I see. Going all out with the heel Jericho promo. Cool.

I still agree with the point that Jericho/Triple H should be the main event. How must Jericho feel, having been led to believe all this time that he would be main-eventing WrestleMania, only to have that taken away from him by someone who's making his return to the Federation after nine years?

Then again, going into WrestleMania he will have held the title for about four months, so he has little room to complain, huh?

Think about that for a second. When is the last time you saw a good Hogan match?
Putting Jericho and HHH out after this will make them look like the superstars they are. After the horrible match (quality-wise) anything will be a step up.

Yeah, but they probably want to give the fans a feel-good face-wins final match. They have a long history of ending Wrestlemania on a high note.
That being said, Jericho/HHH should be second to last because heel Jericho is going to win. That way, when Rock beats Hogan, everyone (but me) will go home happy.
Plus, despite match quality for Hogan/Rock, when they do the Hogan/Andre stare-down and the millions of cameras are flashing, it will be a moment for the ages.

You are SO right, Scar. Someone in Stamford better go back and check those archived WCW tapes. The nWo had god-awful matches BACK THEN -- what makes Vince think they won't be just as bad, if not worse, now? They're all older, slower and fatter; probably dumber too. These guys may look cool and dangerous coming down the ramp, but in the ring they end up looking pretty sad.
Trust me: the heat for this version of the nWo will evaporate the minute they start having actual matches.

But it can be argued that if Hogan and his boys weren't returning then Jericho wouldn't even be the champion going in to WM. If there was no NWO I think the whole landscape of the WWF would be different. We would probably be getting HHH/Austin for the title in the main event. So as I see it, Jericho may actually have the NWO and Hogan to thank for his title reign and eventual Wrestlemania title match. Funny considering the rports of him being "held back" by the same guys in WCW.

Ok...here we go...
-The last time I remember a good hogan match was hogan vs goldberg, because he tried..the match might have been average but the feel around it made it awesome..same will happen vs. Rocky.
Now he might have had ok outings after that, I just dont remember right now..

- Bad matches in WCW..ok...What makes YOU think they won't be alot better?
They won't be able to mail it in, they are up against better opponents who are not booked to suck ass, and they might be motivated??

-For most fans they dont give a fuck if the guys have horrible matches if the booking/story is 'alright'..I bet the heat goes up if they do double team punchfests on Rocky even...

And I have no idea why they would be dumber..I think its pretty smart to become the hottest thing in the wwf after all this time while you know you fucked up big time in another federation and people want you dead..

Thanks a lot, smartass. You know, I almost put "except for the Stone Cold turn and the Triple H win," but I guess I thought that most of the posters here would not feel the urge to be crass meatheads about it.
It's common knowledge that (like I freakin' said) Wrestlemania almost always ends with a face win with recent exceptions. I AM SO SORRY, MASTER, TO OFFEND THEE.
I love how some of you guys get your kicks from pointing out things like this. It's almost as bad as the spelling-Nazis who love to nuke people for their poor grammar.

If you combine logic with the laws of physics and the inevitable effects of aging, I don't see what other conclusion you can come up with. IMO, nWo matches with any combination of Hogan/Nash/Hall will suck, and I'll be shocked -- SHOCKED -- if I'm wrong.
For one, the only way to get into match shape is by HAVING MATCHES, which these guys haven't done for years. YEARS!
Inactivity and the passing of time has made them all slow and sloppy, and there's nothing anyone can do about that.
As for motivation: I don't care how motivated an elephant gets, it ain't leaping over no high jump.

Rock/Hogan will headline, and I think it should headline. It has the most heat, it's the match grabbing the headlines, and it will sell the most tickets.

This match may not (check that, will not) be a 5-star classic, but I don't think that will be required for this to be pure electric and feel special. I think Hogan and Rock are going to give a good effort, and I think synergy is going to take care of the rest. Afterall, Hogan/Warrior and Hogan/Andre felt like a big, exciting deal; even though those were hardly wrestling classics. Even Hogan/Goldberg manage to create that feel.

I agree with most of the points that the match between Rock and Hogan might not be horrible because of the atmosphere. But I want to remind everybody of another match that had a great atmosphere going into and ended up sucking and screwing up alot of things:
Booker T. vs. Buff Bagwell on Raw.

I would have agreed that the title match should go last to headline wrestlemania a few years ago, but after seeing what has gone on in wrestling over the last little while it's apparent that titles are pretty much meaningless.

Besides, Rock and Hogan is gonna be huge!...Toronto loves both men. There's no better place than the main event of wrestlemania in the skydome to have this match.

I don't think it's fair to even compare the atmosphere of Rock/Hogan to Booker/Bagwell. When Booker T and Bagwell had their match a lot of diehard WWF fans probably didn't even really know or care who they were. A whole helluva lotta people care about Hogan and Rocky. No matter what internet wrestling fans constantly say, people love Hogan. And we all know that peopdle love the Rock.

Let's compare...

Hogan vs. Rock: Two of the biggest names in wrestling in the biggest PPV of the year that is getting mainstream attention.

Booker T vs. Bagwell: First "WCW" match on Raw between two midcard-level guys that most WWF fans never even heard of.

I think apples and oranges come to mind here.

I think it's fair to say that Jericho is new to the main event, while Rock and Hogan are not. I can see reason for making either match the last match on the card, and I think the outcomes of the matches will determine their placement.

If Jericho and Rock are going to win, then Rock/Hogan will be last, but if Hogan and Triple H are going to win, then Jericho/Triple H will be last.

Yeah, Monday's show killed my desire to recap this week. Might have been just as well, as this was a pretty uneventful show. Some good in-ring action, but I don't think anything was really advanced in the end. So here's the thread.
