So which match do you think they will put on last at Wrestlemania X8, Rock/Hogan or Jericho/HHH? I'm guessing they'll go with Rock/Hogan, especially since it is reportedly getting mainstream media attention. I'd prefer to have a World Title match to end the evening, but I can understand why they'd put Rock/Hogan last. Hell, it's better than putting Lawrence Taylor/Bam Bam Bigelow last!

And it still seems odd to me that Austin looks to be going up against Hall. I like Hall, but it just seems like a push down the card for Stonecold.

So if they do put Rock/Hogan last am I right to say that this is only the third WM to not end in a title match? The others being the first (Hogan/Mr. T vs. Piper/Orondorf) and WM XI (Taylor vs. Bigelow).

Also, WM8 where Macho/Flair for the Title wasn't even the pre-main, but came in the middle of the card.

The second biggest match is always in the middle of the card.

Hogan vs Rock should definitely be the main event, and then HHH vs. Jericho as the semi-main. So after that no matter who you put Stone Cold against it will seem like he's been pushed down the card, cause he has.

Nothing would surprise me after the fact that the WCW championship was the last match at Summerslam. Even if it was The Rock's first match back (which it WASN'T,) that ain't right at all.

And Moe, are you admitting that Shane McMahon v Vince McMahon was the second-biggest match at last year's Wrestlemania? :-)

Well if you go by where the DVD splits the show then TLC2 was the second biggest match at WMX7. I'm inclined to believe that one.

What match (besides the world title match) was more important or got as much build up as the McMahons' match? Of course it was the second biggest match on the card.

I don't think the fed could push Austin down the card (permanently anyways) if they wanted to.

Which means this seems like an excellent way to make Hall appear as a credible threat. I say that because Nash and Hogan have held both world titles already, while I don't think Hall has held either of the world titles... I know he was IC and... was he U.S. champ? Was he the one who threw the belt in the trash to be found by Duggan?

Austin vs. Hall seems to be the final piece in making the nWo look like three scary monsters instead of two scary monsters and their drunken friend.

He held both the TV and US Titles at the same time, eventually throwing the TV title in the trash. That is the belt that Duggan found and claimed as his own.,

I heard somewhere that Austin refused to work with Hogan, which is probably why Rock got him at 'Mania.

Eh, I find that hard to believe kkifnh.

And Austin has been in the Main Event of how many PPV's in a row now? A year's worth? He can afford a small push down for a bit.

IMO, the World Title match should ALWAYS be last.

Agreed. Often people will counter this by saying "but there are sometimes feuds which are more heated than the world title feud," to which I say if the feud is THAT intense, it should be the one for the title anyway.

I see things a different way. I don't think there is any way that HHH/Y2J would be all that heated "without" the title involved. I think many times the Fed uses the title to put extra "stink" as Austin would say, on a feud. Hogan/Rock is money with or without the strap, but HHH/Y2J becomes an equal to that match with the title involved. There's no need to concentrate the heat onto only one match.

True. I didn't quite say all I meant to though.

The most important/anticipated(hopefully the two go hand-in-hand) match should always be the last on the card, I think we can all agree on that. Now, as Austin always says, if you aren't in the Fed to be the champ, you don't need to be there. So, isn't the World Title match ALWAYS the most important? If nothing else, it elevates the title to always be the last match on the card.

But you are right KevinKelly. The title is used to put heat on guys who otherwise might have little (Jericho).

I, for one, hope HHH/Y2J is the last match, but I don't think it will be. The only reason I see this is because, frankly, the live crowd will be so hyped for Rock/Hogan, anything after it will be a colossal letdown. It would be like at WM VIII running matches after the Warrior run-in.

It's all a conspiracy to hold Jericho back. The glass ceiling has struck again. Jericho is the undisputed champion, he is a big star than Hogan. Has Hogan ever been undisputed champ? Hogan has been back for only a few weeks and allready he is pushing Jericho down the card. Where's Scott Keith when you need him...?

“It's all a conspiracy! They're holding me back! C'mon, JoJo, do the right thing and overturn the decision.

Hahahahahaha... March, that sounds just like Jericho's WCW heel run.

In my opinion, Y2J/HHH should be the last match-- I'm not sure it will be, but it should be. It is, after all, the title match. I think that Y2J/HHH might have been considered a stronger main event if there was a role-reversal-- that is, Jericho as the face and Hunter as the heel. Remember the feud they had in 2000? Great stuff.

What they need to do is play more into the history those two have with each other. I, for one, want Jericho to run the tape of his overturned World Title victory against Triple H. And definitely show the footage of Triple H “convincing” Earl Hebner to overturn the title change.

No, Hogan has never been undisputed champion. Neither has The Rock. Nor has Triple H. I'm not a huge Hogan fan, nor a Rock fan, but how can it be seriously argued that Jericho is a bigger star than those two? No, neither of them have ever held the WWF and WCW World Titles at the same time. But isn't that really a gimmick made possible by the WWF's purchase of WCW? The argument can be made that Y2J was simply in the right place at the right time.

Hell-- there hasn't been a federation title vs. federation title match since NWA Champion Ric Flair's match with WWF Champion Bob Backlund, has there? And if WCW still existed as a separate entity, there still would be no Undisputed Champion.

Judging by Hogan and The Rock's accomplishments compared to those of Chris Jericho, it's clear that theirs is certainly the “marquee matchup” of the card-- although it certainly won't be the best match. But I do tend to agree that the title match should be the last match of the event.

ekedolphin, I believe he was simply referring to what Jerucho's character would say. (Larger than life, living legend,...)
