What does that mean for Benoit? Who does he feud with next? Is he still a title contender? Or is the Benoit push over? Does he go back to Smackdown since the only reason he was on Raw was because he got the title shot?
i hope he go's back to smackdown. he was good on raw but it old seeing him on it. smackdown really needs him bad because a lot of people are losin there job and he can help out the ratings
I think Benoit will probably get a rematch or two and then shift back into the midcard. But like Jericho, I think that the title reign gives him a legitimacy that would allow him to slide back into the title picture when they need a challenger. Plus I think he's been really successful in this run so he may get another go with it at some point.
Yeah, because Jericho has been in so many main events since losing the title. Throwing Benoit in the mid-card is almost certain death. Honestly, who is going to fued with Orton after this? Has anyone asked that question. He's beaten every face minus Edge and Eugene. Its a bad decision to put the belt on Orton espically til Wrestlemania.

All of his feuds so far have been at upper mid card level, with only the Foley/Orton feud ever being the focal point of the show. They could still get plenty more mileage out of feuds with the likes of HBK, Jericho and Benjamin. On top of that they could run a rematch with Benoit, a programme with Edge or even a brief feud with The Rock given their history if the guys got a spare month.
Benoit's first feud will almost certainly be a continuation against Orton. I would be willing to bet the Unforgiven main event is already set as Orton vs. Benoit. Down the line, it wouldn't surprise me to see him side with HHH against Evolution after they split up, and a feud with heel Edge wouldn't be a bad thing to watch either.

He's already beaten Edge actually. In an IC title match on RAW. It was actually pretty good and a hell of a lot better than their match at Vengeance.

Benoit is going EXACTLY where Jericho is, if not lower because his mic skills aren't as good. Jericho has only gotten a minimal rub from his title run and I'll bet a lot of marks have forgotten that he was the undisputed champ.
Enjoy the reign, because after a token rematch or two, it's Tyson Tomko matches and 6-man main events.
Or the eventual, "WWE currently has no new ideas for Chris Benoit."
"If you want me to watch the shows, buy tickets when you come to town, buy t-shirts, and pay for a PPV every three days, you bet your ass I'm going to hard to impress. Well they could always send Benoit back to Smackdown! after the next annual RAW/Smackdown lottery. There he could compete for the WWE title once again and give it some even more much needed prestige.

Moving Benoit back to Smackdown after SummerSlam would be the best option, but apperantly, he is being advertised on house shows after the PPV. Benoit will be next to Jericho as in someone who should be main eventing, but won;t because they are not buddy buddy with HHH or an old wrestler who kinda was lame, but we still push him regardless how bad he looks in the ring.
Honeslty, Benoit will be Orton's bitch till they move Jericho in the role to be Orton's bitch in the fall then HHH will win the Rumble and pin Orton making everyone look like HHH's bitch. I'm sorry, but this run looks like a train wreck and add in LBJ on Smackdown, Jarrett starts looking like a legit champion compared to these two.

If they elevate Orton by giving him the title, why does that mean that the faces that challenge him will become his bitches. Honestly, people (rightfully) complain that WWE never makes new stars and that the same people are always getting a big push. Well now they try to elevate Orton and people complain he's not ready yet. I like Benoit as much as most people do, but he can't hold the title forever.
Honestly, they don't need to make new stars. Cena is the only breakaway star they have had in the last three years. If you want to see an example of making stars go wrong see Brock. They gave him the title, the last King of the Ring, Rumble win and Wrestlemania main event. They could use the stars they have now like which people know like Eddie, Benoit, Jericho, Booker T and Rob, but they don't. They keep shoving HHH, HBK and Taker down our throats. They need to work on the stars they have. Cena is a rare example of the crap they have brought in the last few years. Batista can be a star, but they are so much in love with Orton, Batista will probably never main event till next year.
I don't understand why people are so worried about Chris Benoit. He's had a pretty lengthy title wins, where he has made HBK and HHH. He's beaten everyone on the roster. Until last RAW, I think his last loss of any kind was to La Res in Quebec. (I don't remember if he was pinned.)
The problem with Benoit is simple: his entire selling point is his wrestling skills. He's well below average on the mic. And there is always difficulty in booking a face champ because in the fans' minds he "deserves" it. How do you build a compelling storyline for a heel (other than HHH who no one wants to see with the belt) to beat Benoit?
When someone answers that question, then I'll be convinced that Orton's victory (which I agree in theory is too soon) is a bad idea.
I seriously dont want Orton to win- I know Benoit has to lose the belt sometime but hopefully it wont be to Orton.
Theres a hole in this story (what a surprise), I mean- Here's how I see it: he's feuding with Edge and all of a sudden he has a title shot because he was put in a Battle Royale that was intended (or so it seems to me) to give all the guys a place on a RAW that would otherwise have no time for them because of the Benoit-Hunter Ironman. They wanted to create a superstar out of thin air so they just handed the I.C. belt to Edge and just like that Orton is on his way to be the champ. (Whatever, maybe Im just paranoid). it just doesnt feel real or entertaining. Orton is a top-midcarder and for now it just seems to me that he should be competing for the Intercontinental (A.K.A. the midcarder's) Championship.
As for Benoit- I DO want him to lose the belt, and I REALLY want him to switch to Smackdown. Theodore Long will definitely not treat him like Heyman in the storylines and Benoit becoming a top contender could only improve Smackdown. If the sacrifice needed for this to happen is to give the belt to Orton then fine, but I have a feeling it wont be that way and Benoit will just slip into the midcard (not so soon, but yes- because of his less than great mic skills it is inevitable)

Eric: "Now to unveil my finishing move; the Bischoff lock!" Vince: "Let go of me you idiot!"
I say no to the idea of Benoit switching shows not because it would make Smackdown look inferior, but would make Benoit look like a total puss and render the whole year to date meaningless.
Edge has two wins in hand so he's the logical challenger after that. Unless he turns before then, but that'd be a bit of a waste of Orton's last two jobs.
Michaels will come back and beat Kane, setting him up for a title shot. I'd expect them to go to Michaels before Edge or Jericho since, you know, they always do.
Jericho could always be put in the fucken title match program, for god's sakes. The last title match he's been in on PPV that wasn't a six-way was March 2002. He's perfect as the face challenger to fill a month and come up short. Well, he's perfect for more than that but I'll take what I can get.
Flair, if he's punked out with Triple H to keep them together and because he's Old and because people want to cheer Flair anyway, can be rebuilt enough for one show just by doing promos and playing up his One Last Shot (neverminding that that's what they said last May). Orton adds Flair to his legend killing list, natch.
I guess Hunter is to be occupied with f'n Eugene for however long. Good luck stretching that out.
