He's appearing at a local bar on Sunday during Summer Slam. The $25 gets you in, food, drinks, meet n greet and the PPV. Anybody think this is a bad deal? I can usually see the PPV for free there, so is it worth $25 to meet him? (trying to talk myself into going)

I'd say go for it. It's a pretty unique opportunity, and I don't think it's that bad a deal anyway considering you're getting food and drinks too. If meeting Bret does turn out to be less than what you expected, it's not like you spent gobs of cash to meet him, so no big deal.

Do it just so you can hear him refer to the event as THE Summerslam all night long. I could never figure that out.

I was just watching the RAW before Summerslam '97 on 24/7 and noticed that too. I had forgotten about "The Summerslam". It actually sounded cool and fitting with his cocky, arrogant, Canadian pride thing going on.

Anyway, go for it! During a regular PPV night at the bar, you probably spend around $25 maybe for drinks and food, right? This is all-inclusive AND you get to meet Bret Hart.

If it were me, I'd already be there waiting in line in hopes that I'd get christened with the pink sunglasses.

Agreed with everyone else. This seems like a good deal in every way, except that it might be ridiculously crowded in there.

Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her.
Harry: That's a special feeling.

Go, have a good time, and tell us how it went when you get back.
I'd sooner pay $25 for a meet and greet with Bret than buy a ticket for house show with the current roster.

Which bar is doing this? I used to live in St. Louis and have a couple of friends that would be interested in this.

Through the magic of Google I have discovered it's at the Stratford Bar and Grill in suburban Fenton, MO.

I hope he shows up. He's been hyping an appearance in Ottawa for 3 months, including numerous radio interviews. I paid out $50 for a front row seat which was supposed to give me (and the rest who shelled out for those) exclusive access to Bret after the show. He no-showed the event last night.

Thank God someone else picked up on this. I thought it was just my brother and me. It drove us up the wall! I think that's the reason Bret wasn't one of our favorites...because he would always say "the summerslam".

All that for $25? That is a good deal. I would be interested to here Bret's Comments/Thoughts/Explaining everything Vince is doing wrong. I would pay a good amount of $$$ to hear Bret's thoughts on Triple H, Vince, Ric Flair etc in a bar room.

My understanding (I know the guy who did the commentary for the show Mike Rotch) is that there was a problem with Bret's flight from Chicago that was out of his control.

You could probably criticize Bret and Devon Nicholson (the guy that got butchered by Abdullah) for not arranging Bret to come in earlier given the problems with the US airlines with delays this summer, but aside from that I am fairly certain that if it was possible for Bret to be there, he would have been.

How did this event go? Did you end up going?

Sounds like it was a good deal. I paid 17 to meet Bret in the UK last year and that was without free food, drink and a PPV. It was still worth it though.

Awe man, forgot to update. I was unable to attend due to some personal issues with my girlfriend. Had to attend to those before I ran off to some "rasslin" event.

I was there...went straight there after work. I would have been perfectly willing to pay up front, get an autograph, and then leave, but I arrived around 6:30 so my ticket number was pretty far back in line(that's how they determined the line order). I also had to drop ten bucks on an 8x10 since dumbass me forgot to bring something to sign.

I finally got up there during Cena-Orton...said that he's one of the reasons I'm a wrestling fan and "thank you", then shook his hand. Hey, he's one of my all-time favorite wrestlers so it was cool to meet him briefly.

Matt came back way too soon from every injury (and worked thru that icky abdominal issue too!)... I wish the guy had taken the proper time to be 100%... I read an interview with Punk a few months ago where he suggested that a.)
