Get the mint juleps ready, it's time for the Kentucky Derby! I like to go to the local otb and drop a few small bets down on this race every year, but I haven't paid any attention at all to who might be worth dropping some cash on. Anyone out there study this and might have some thoughts on who's going to win the Run for the Roses?
You'd think I could help, but all I know about the Derby this year is that it is really screwing with my travel. My flight's overbooked, I am on the lowest fare type and I might get bumped for some b-level celebrity
Give some thought to 15-Tiago. I've seen every one of his races live out at Santa Anita. In every race so far, he has not failed to execute a very nice looking middle move burst of speed. I am in the camp that thinks his first graded race attempt would have been much better had he not been blocked in the lane.
Much like his half-brother, Giacomo, he takes off the pace, but if the pace up front goes as quick as expected, he can run well into that. He also should not suffer from the post, given his tactics. He will try to save as much ground as he can. I would expect him to make up some ground on the leaders from the far turn anyway, so consider him for the exotics, and definitely on top if the price is right.
If the pace does not go completely haywire up front, I would give a little consideration to Stormello. Still, from gate 17, he may have to burn a little more energy early than normal to make the rail.

smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Had $20 to win and had $1 exacta and tri boxes. Was originally going to go with $5 exacta boxes, but was only going to do that with the 7 and 14, so deciding to go with the tri and covering myself on the exactas with the 8 paid off. $140 profit is always a nice day.
'Ric Flair wishes he was Paul Roma.' Congratulations Paul on winning the Idiotic Comment of the Decade Award.
Seems to me the cost of having these guys on the team would be recouped many times over with the publicity and merchandise sales and touring fees and tv money and all that they can attract with those names.
