| #1 Posted on 27.5.12 1829.28 | Instant Rating: 6.29 | This has been embargoed until 28 May (which it now is in the UK), just 2 days prior to the UK release. Stateside you'll have to wait until Friday, but on both sides of the pond this will be crushed by Prometheus.
It's not a bad film, and I prefer it to Tarsem Singh's efforts from earlier in the year, but it had a load more potential compared to what it actually delivers. I typically avoid trailers at all costs, but I caught the one for SWATH prior to seeing the film. On the plus side it looked great and got my hopes up. On the flipside of that all the cool shit is given away in the trailer.
Here's my full, spoiler-free write-up of what works and what doesn't in Snow White and the Huntsman (londonfilmfanatiq.com).

There are some beautiful images and a Pillars of the Earth reunion as well as Thor fighting a Troll. Charlize Theron is a good performance even its a bit over the top. It just got too LOTR at the end as well as stealing from Never Ending Story and Labyrinth. There was potential to being with it, but slows to a halt for a long time and even the end feels like forever.

It is a bad movie. It's a great looking bad movie.
The fairest review of them all. (backofthehead.com) Fair as in funny, not, you know, fair to the movie, which blew.

Some beautiful imagery, Theron was good, but Snow white just dragged the whole mess down. I found myself struggling to keep my eyes open during the 2nd hour. Yeah way too long. | BigDaddyLoco

I felt engaged in the story considering it was a movie about Snow White. I am actually surprised to see the reaction going the other way on this. |
