Perhaps it's just me, but I thought that this episode (other than Shakira) was strong top to bottom.

The beauty and the Beast was great, as was DAVEHEART.

Gerard Butler was funny in just about every single thing they asked him to do.

Anybody else find this as entertaining as I did?

The prior week was so awful that it really helped this week, I think. I haven't gotten too excited about anything from this season so far.

None of this should be taken as a knock on Gerard Butler, who was definitely enthusiastic and does seem to possess some (hidden?) comic genius.

Unless you hate attractive women there is no reason to dislike Shakira.

I just found out that was Miley Cyrus performing that night. When in the blue blazes did she become Britney Spears? How did she not hurt her back sticking her ass out like that?

I caught the opening piece.

Regardless of your political persuasion, doesn't it seem stupid to have Dwayne Johnson come in to do "The Rock Obama", and then have him do a variation on Phil Hartman's Frankenstein character - instead of cutting a vintage Rock-style promo on the Republicans?

You ask me, it's like hiring Tom Hanks for a movie and making him do the whole role in a gorilla suit.

He's actually doing the "hulk-voice" which mainly means talking io third person and like a child.

JimBob: Which week were you referring to? I don't think Miley Cyrus has performed on SNL.

My favorite sketch was What up with That.

I dare you to watch that sketch and not have that damn song in your head for the rest of the day.

Sorry, I just realized she was on Letterman (I think). My bad.

Shakira is one very attractive woman.
Singer? Not so much.
Her entire thing looked like a fifth grade talent show choreography level.

Hey, Shakira has a great voice! And she's seemingly supernice, really smart, and heavily involved in a lot of humanitarian stuff. On the whole she seems like one of the better people. The dance moves are indeed preposterous and alienating though.

I enjoy listening to Shakira. Her English lyrics are usually pretty normal, but her Spanish lyrics are often on the weird side.

"Wait... is she singing about shrimp?"
