Who knew John McCain was so entertaining? I loved him playing PETE. Just the sight of him with a long pony tail and hawiian shirt had me laughing. Plus, any time you get Ace and Gary making an appearance, things are looking up! Too bad the musical act sucked. Jeezus, where do they find these assclowns? Promote this thread!

The Belafonte bit was hilarious. Meet The Press was also very funny. Even that Lifetime sketch was sort of funny. Steely Dan pumpkins saved that "Wake Up Wakefield" sketch. AGD was hilarious. The White Stripes were very good. Another very funny Update. I liked the bit with the guy running for office. "America needs a bigger lake." That Top O The Morning sketch reeked of Mike Myers. McCain singing Streisand was alright. Hey, they showed all of the GoodNights. Overall, Senator John McCain was a very good host. So far, the best SNL of the season. Next new SNL is in two weeks with Will from "Will and Grace" hosting and the musical guest, Jay-Z. "I just got pinned by a friggin twelve-year-old." Kurt Angle

AIM: # 4 Posted on 20.10.02 1017.47 This was the first episode that didn't feel like "Boy, we miss Will Ferrell". They were back to old form. Damn near everything worked - except that Mexican comedian guy with the steel drum. Why in the hell is he going to be a recurring character? Aside from that, my only real complaint was that Chris Kattan didn't reprise his Paul Begala during the Crossfire sketch. I know Begala works for CNN now and couldn't appear on an MSNBC show, but I think they could look beyond that.

"Dead Leaves..." is a great song. Ferecito is too funny, in my opinion. The "Budweiser/Natural Light" joke from Update was pretty good. And, yes, the Steely Dan pumpkins ruled. Gave me an excuse to pull out "Aja" again...not that you need an excuse to listen to that. Guess that meeting worked. "I just got pinned by a friggin twelve-year-old." Kurt Angle

Sorry. Lame Triple H joke. As long as Maya gets lotsa facetime, and Fey's at the update desk, I'm happy. Listen to Filler Bunny...

Darrell Hammond was the performer of the night. The "Hardball" and "Meet the Press" skits were hilarious. What was the guy on the White Stripes on anyways? It looked like he got some of Jeff Hardy's stash. I dig the WS, but their performances were brutal. I too missed Begala on Hardball, but Morgan as Belafonte was awesome. The Meet the Press skit was AWFUL. A one-joke skit that felt like it went on for three hours. He's automatically the second funniest person on the show (behind Hammond, without whom they'd really be screwed) just by virtue of that bit. Seemed like a throwback to a time when you used mannerisms to get a character over, not catch phrases (which all changed with Wayne's World). The writing was noticably better from last year, too. Apparantly it's a lot better than this year's so far, though I missed the first two episodes. And geez, the White Stripes did suck. Even my brother admitted so, and he's a pretty big fan. Why can't they get a decent musical guest, like Sam the Sham and the Pharohs or something? Now THAT'S garage. Baby, the world ain't round, it's square

. . .and it's a remake of a movie with enough success to merit a sequel which featured Michael Jackson singing a love song about a rat. I guess the remake of Deadly Eyes can't be too far off now. Maybe this will herald a new Evil Rat boom.
