Does anyone like this show? It doesn't show here in Japan. I downloaded an episode off Kazaa by mistake (was trying to search for small breast) but I am addicted to this show. I burned all 15 episodes onto a DVD. I've always liked Superman but I was never into the comics at all. This had me going back and reading some of the Graphic Novels I missed. Lex has to be the greatest charactor since Al Bundy. It's sometimes cheesy with the "villian" of the week, but when it's on (like Nicodemus) it's can hook you in. I rate it a 3 on the top ten greatest sci-fi shows of all time. But, if I tell you the whole top ten it could start a nerd war. All I will say is, V is number 2 and X-Files is number 1.

*stands up*

My name is DrOp and I watch Smallville.

I haven't seen the entire season however, and if we could work out something in regards to getting me a copy of that DVD, SeVen, I'd really appreciate it.

I've seen one episode of it (the 'Bug Boy' episode). It seemed alright to me, kind of a crossover teen drama/sci-fi show (ala Buffy or Roswell though I've never seen Roswell). It does seem a bit like a 'creature feature' show though.

I liked the interactions between Clark and Lex, especially having loved the comics as a kid, knowing what theoretically happens to them.

It's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure I'll watch a couple more episodes once the other Tuesday shows go into re run.

I've got friends in the comics business who harp on me for not watching it.

BUT, it just strikes me as X-Files meets Dawson's Creek.

I tried watching it but it was too much "monster of the week." I mean, how many mutants can one town have, Kryptonite meteorites or not?

AND, it's on against 24.

THAT was a perfect description of the show. Good or bad.

The interactions between Clark and Lex ARE awesome and Lana is rather hot though...

I saw one episode.... one where Lex's past comes back to haunt him (nightclub past). It was well done and i plan on catching more in the future. Whoever is playing Lex is doing a great job.

If you ignore the fact everyone in it is about 28 playing 15 a la Dawson's it is actually pretty damn good. Plus super hot Kelly Brook turned up as Lex's girlfriend in a few shows, and despite any obvious acting ability she sure lit up the screen. .

I had the same Smallville vs. 24 dilemna for the first couple of weeks then i realized that 24 reruns about 50 times during the week on FX so I've been watching Smallville.

I think the three main characters (Kristen Kreuk as Lana Lang, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, and Tom Welling as Clark Kent) were all very well casted. Plus, it's got Bo Duke!

Yeah it does have a monster of the week deal (or freak of the week as me and L-Mo call it) but isn't that pretty much how anything comic book related is? Without monsters what's the point? Would you rather them have entire episodes of just the Dawson's Creek type soapy stuff? No. So it's alright with me and is probably my favorite non cartoon tv show with Buffy.

People tell me Angel is better than Buffy, but it's on during wrestling.

Angel is better than Buffy this season.

I watch RAW and tape it. But most of the time I wouldn't go WAY out of your way to see it (especially now when you have to have seen the rest of this season to understand what's going on).

Angel is way better than Buffy this season. They seem to be going in a different direction with Buffy now (especially with the S&M overtones to Spike and Buffy's relationship) since the network switch, whereas Angel has stayed more traditional.

Plus, not having an ultimate bad guy right from the off has hurt Buffy imo, the nerd gang just didn't cut it for me (they just reek of that godawful "Troll King" episode from season 5) and although you know who (don't want to go all spoilery now) will make for interesting plotlines in the future the pacing of the whole thing just seems off to me.

Angel, however (especially how Darla "gave birth") has the right mix of shocking swerves and built up stories, so I'd rate it better.

So what's more pathetic: being such a Buffy/Angel fan or using the term "shocking swerve" in a non-wrestling discussion.
PS sorry if this is a little off topic.

Don't watch Buffy or Angel (well, stopped watching Buffy sometime in Season 2 - I just couldn't keep up), but really enjoy Smallville. Of course, being a huge comic book fan doesn't hurt.

Who else was laughing their butt off a few weeks ago when Jon Schneider was listening to the Dukes' theme in his truck? I'm sure it was a nod to the passing of Waylon Jennings, and probably shouldn't have been laughed at, but I was cracking up on that one.

And I've gotta get one of those DVD burning thingies. All my Smallville episodes are on tape.

Drop and Drew, I ran out of blank DVD (ungodly expensive) but I can send it in avi. format or on cdr in WMP format. I'm ordering more DVD online since I can't find any on base or out in Tokyo.

Yeah, it was decent. It was one of those "Well, there's nothing else on" type of shows. And, just out of boredom, I did stand in exactly one spot for the rest of the show, when he said something about it.
