I don't know the most recent ratings numbers, but RAW is a show that has been and might now be watched by more people than an NBA playoff game, Conference Finals or not.

Of course, since ESPN is in bed with the league, they're going to seemingly take the NBA's side of things in harping on it not being any big deal for the WWE to move their show, but geez, it is pretty (typically) arrogant where wrestling is concerned.

PTI was particularly infuriating yesterday, as Wilbon was quick to dismiss the WWE and rail about how the NBA doesn't owe them anything, even though WWE booked the event well in advance. This isn't Vince McMahon trying to take advantage of anything. He booked a venue and he shouldn't be out of luck because the Nuggets made the playoffs. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a "Nuggets make the playoffs" clause in the contract he signed when he booked Raw.

The only ones with a good sense of perspective on the subject at ESPN were Mike & Mike, as both seemed to agree that Vince booked Raw first and he did everything the right way. The rest of ESPN were typical blowhards siding with the NBA.

That's not true. On the very same episode of PTI, Mr. Tony made a point of how out of order he thought the Nuggets owner was. He even later contemplated the fact that if this same thing was going down in Washington, WWE could be considered the more important ticket.

According to ESPN, RAW will be moved to the Staples Center and the WWE will return to Denver at the Coliseum for an event on August 7th.

I doubt we'll ever see a WWE event at the Pepsi Center again as long as Kroenke owns the building.

Look for plenty of pro-Lakers/anti-Nuggets sentiment in the ring and in the crowd (maybe I should go???)

But as a Lakers fan, wouldn't you be watching Game 4 at the same time that RAW is occurring?

Wilbon sticking up for the NBA is no surprise.

Surprised he didn't somehow play the race card.

No that's Stephen A. Smith

Anyway you would think the simple solution would be just move the event to CO. Springs when this problem first arose. Let the Nuggets have the Arena and allow the WWE to re-schedule the event honoring the Tix that was suppose to be Monday and if the Nuggets/Pepsi center were really good businessman they would have given the rescheduled date rent-free for the inconvenience.

I mean why is Vince drawing this out, just take your money to Staples or MSG or World Arena and screw the Denver management group. Easy as that.

Ratings. VM was on SportsCenter tonight plugging next week's show *hard* with plenty of anti-Nuggets shenanigans promised.

Not surprising that this has become a storyline for RAW.

Simmons mentioned in his chat today that he asked for Vince to be a guest on the BS Report.

Doubt it will happen.

edit:

From Meltzer -- Raw will be headlined by a Lakers vs. Nuggets spoof ten-person match. While not specified, the main event on the show is Randy Orton & Big Show & Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes & Miz vs. Batista & John Cena & MVP & Jerry Lawler and a fifth person.

What, was Key arena booked? Couldn't have gotten a more anti-NBA arena than that...

Karl Malone spent his first 18 seasons (1985–2003) as the star player for the Utah Jazz forming a formidable duo with his teammate John Stockton. He then played one season (2003-04) for the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring.

Hmmmmm...

And Malone did know how to apply a Diamond Cutter.

Scarier thoughts: Dennis Rodman, Kevin Eubanks or Jay Leno may also be available.

I am going with Kareem or Magic as the fifth man. I guess Flair calling out Orton will be used on another night if Orton is in the main event.

Barring that, they could get Jimmy Kimmel as Karl Malone.

Dat would be pretty good right dar.

Kroenke Sports has spoken, and they're saying Vince went back on a deal that would've had them doing the show Sunday night. Here's a quote from the article:

"We negotiated in good faith with Vince and believed we had a deal in principal as of Tuesday," Kroenke Sports executive vice president Paul Andrews said. "In fact, it was so clear to us that we did that we asked Vince to do a joint press release. He said, 'Paul, I have no problem with a joint press release.' Then, he asked us if he could get five tickets to the Denver Nuggets' game on Monday night so he could apologize to Mr. Kroenke in person.

Joint press releases? Wanting tickets to a show he can't attend because of Raw? To APOLOGIZE? I'm sorry, but that doesn't sound like something Vince McMahon would say/do.

I hadn't heard a thing about this, til the link here from the Wrestling Forum!! If I'd known, I probably could have arranged to get over to LA for the shows -- bummer. Those are going to be 2 *fun* live shows to be at!!!

And this will be a *fun* lawsuit to watch!

So, will Vince's hatred of the Nuggets cause him to book them to lose, or will his desire to bury everyone in their hometown cause him to book the Lakers to lose?

You believe me, don't you?

WWE is set for a western Canadian tour in August, and it appears that Saskatoon may have lost its house show as a result of all this. The orignal plan was a Friday night Raw house show in Saskatoon and Saturday night Raw show in Regina; that's the weekend when WWE is holding its make-up date in Denver. WWE.com no longer lists a Saskatoon show at all, and the Saturday Regina show is now a Smackdown house show - so Saskatoon gets the shaft and Regina gets an upgrade.

If this holds, it'll make the second cancelled show in a row for Saskatoon - last time they came through town, we had front row seats but the show got called off after the Benoit thing happened.
