Well, my friend Lizz and I made our way up to Madison Square Garden for a rousing edition of WWE Smackdown. Now, I'm going on memory here, but here's what I can pull together with my limited memory.

Nova vs. Arron Stevens- Nova changed his hometown since the last time I saw him. Once hailing from the great town of Toms River, NJ, he now hails from New York. Blah. Nova also picked up the win with a roll up.

-Velocity Pyro-

Billy Gunn vs. Kanyon- I went to get food. Kanyon got a lot of "Let's go Kanyon" chants. Sadly, Billy Gunn beat the innovator of offense and he and Torrie Wilson smacked each others butts the whole way back up the ramp.

A-Train vs. Guy in Red Tights (Xavier?)- A-Train comes to the ring really mad and throws a bunch of chairs in the ring. Then he runs in and absolutely demolishes his opponent, winning with the Derailer. Lots of shave your back chants.

Spanky vs. Guy in Black Pants (No Idea)- Kind of a back and forth match for a guy who came to the ring while A-Train was leaving. If I remember correctly he went for a 450 Splash but Spanky got the knees up and beat him with a Sliced Bread #2.

Benoit (The Perfect Tag Team Partner for your Car) and Rhyno beat The Basham Brothers with a Gore and the Crossface.

-Smackdown Starts-

John Cena makes his way out and rips into NYC. Apparently, Boston is cooler. He promises that he'll be in the main event of Wrestlemania XX and challenges any rookie in the back to fight him like he did to Angle. Cena's the new Smackdown Legend, yo. Then Orlando Jordan came down and tried to beat Cena, he even flipped out of the FU. The crowd was behind Cena though, and he picked up the win with a roll up. The post match beat down was interrupted by The Undertaker...

...which leads to the APA coming down so Taker and the APA can take on the FBI. The crowd was solidly behind Taker and the APA. Bradshaw won with the clothesline from hell on ... let's say Stamboli.

After this MATT F'N HARDY came to the ring and murdered Rikishi! He kicked out of the Rikishi Driver and countered the Banzai Drop. Matt totally owned his entire match. Matt rules. There wasn't any indication, but I hope this match was part of the US Title tournament.

Then, Eddy and Tajiri took on Piper and O'Haire for the WWE Tag Titles. The MSG Crowd was really behind Piper. Tajiri hit Piper with the mist and gave him a stungun so Eddy could hit the Frog Splash for the win.

Vince made his way out next to confront Stephanie and Zack. I should note that Sable only had a quick 30 second appearance backstage where Vince told her he wasn't in the mood for anything and we didn't have to see her for the rest of the night. Vince apologized to Steph, who was looking mighty fine by the way, but I couldn't really make out much since the audience was jeering so much. Then he tried to apologize to Zack but he wouldn't accept. Vince told Zack he'd give him a WWE Contract if he joined the "Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club". My friend got a picture of Vince's ass. She's weird. Zack went down to kiss Vince's ass, but gave the nutshot instead. After Stephanie and Zack ran away Vince got back up and started running around the ring with Zack's cane. He started swinging it around over his head and it flew into the audience and hit some woman. Vince ran over to her and she was crying. Her and her family got sent backstage. I wish I got hit with the damn cane... We chanted Lawsuit.

Ultimo Dragon then BURNINATED Shannon Moore. His entrance is awesome. Lots of fire shooting all around. Catchy music too. Rey commentated. Ultimo won with a move that I can describe as being set up like the stunner, but then he did a backflip over Shannon and gave him a reverse DDT.

Then, Brock, Angle, and Mr. America fought The Best Damn Tag Team Period and The Big Show. The MSG crowd had a deafening Hogan chant going almost the entire match. Humorously enough, I don't remember how the main event ended. ^_^;; I think it may have been a no contest. Mr. America took off his mask midway through the match and it was HOGAN! OMG! Then he pulled it back down and shushed us. There was a simultanious Angle Slam/F5 in there somewhere, but then Show got them both with a double Chokeslam. I think Mr. America was about to pin Show when Vince came out and threw Zack down the aisle and was beating the hell out of him. Then he said if Zack wanted a contract he'd get it if He and Stephanie could beat Big Show in a handicap match.

I think the show ended here because after this Mr. America took off his mask and kicked Big Show's ass and bodyslammed him. Then he posed for HOURS and we left.

Oh yeah, somewhere in here Jamie Noble got a letter from an attorney about his aunt dying and leaving him lots of money. This is important because I walked by in the background while they were filming it and you can totally see me. I finally made my first WWE appearance. ^_^;

Edit: Apparently Big Show pinned Mr. America after a chokeslam. Sounds about right if you ask me. ^_^;

Is this guy Orlando Jordan any good? I've heard mixed things.

Over 1450 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day!

Oliva: You are the weakest link! Goodbye!

Stewie: Ahahaha. Oh God, that's funny. That's really funny. You write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' You know I've never heard anyone make that joke before. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside program before. Because that's what she says on the show, right? Hmmm? 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' And ye...ye..yet you've taken it and....and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. What a clever, smart girl you must be. To come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmmmm...that's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. Mmmm? Cuz i'm here God you're so funny!

I read somewhere else that Spanky fought Xavier. I didn't think about it at the time, but since you said he went for the 450, it must be Xavier from ROH who had another good Velocity match a while back (I think against A-Train). I hear it was one of the best matches of the night. They had some great battles in ROH, i've heard.

Also, possibly they announced Nova from NY for a hometown pop? Also, don't most New Yorkers like to bag on the folks across the river? Maybe that's why.

As for Orlando Jordan, I have yet to see anything unique or special about him. Though he has a great look to him, with the right gimmick, he could do ok. He has a boxing background so he throws alot of punches. They probably should just emphasize his boxing background more to make his punches seem more lethal.

looked like an ok show overall. Thanks for the review, i'll lookout for you on TV.

Some things I saw in the wrestlingobserver.com recap that didn't get mentioned here: Evildoers won the main event when Big Show chokeslammed Mr. America, seemingly setting up a match between the two. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they've matched up Hogan and that rotten stinky wart infested Giant in the WWE yet. Even supposing Hogan is Big Show's boyhood hero (remembering his legendary 'Showster' appearance) and BS puts up an effort for his idol, the other half of the equation assures we can start dreading the worst.

Also, I read that Billy Kidman made his big return, sitting ringside for the Ultimo Dragon match, seemingly setting up another feud. Since both are more known for their abilities than their bubbling personalities, I guess the blow-off should be alright, but the build-up will recieve apathy.

I'm trying to figure out where they'll go with the Noble/Nidia inheritance angle. I'll be an optimist and assume they do something more interesting than 'Beverly Hillbillies' gags and breaking the duo up (one getting too good for the other).

As bad as the situation with Vince whacking the fan looks, it ultimately evaporates down to just a freak accident. He's swinging something around and he accidentally loses his grip (actual grip; Vince lost the mental one long ago). We ALL have total asinine moments when you trip for no reason or get butterfingers. It's not like Owen Hart's death where the accident occurred doing something stupid and dangerous. I'm not trying to brush off what happened to the girl, but I can't see it being a huge scandal for the company.

Completely off-topic, but I'm just reminded me of a time X-Pac was twirling some nunchuks at Steve Blackman trying to look like a bad-ass and they went flying into the crowd. It can happen.

I don't know how good of a wrestler Orlando Jordan is, but if his promos are as funny as his 7-Up ads were, then I'll be a fan.

Doesn't sound like too compelling of a show though. Not that I won't watch anyway. I'm such an addict.

I'm surprised not only at Benoit and Rhyno on Velocity, but there's no hint of what happened the past 2 weeks.

I can't wait for that Cena promo.

The Hardy-Rikishi match was part of the US tournament. I take it they didn't have the brackets set up.

I'm looking forward to a Dragon-Kidman feud.

Too much Vince/Steph/Zack, though will probably make this a so-so Smackdown.

That actually sounds like an okay show, not great, but who cares about that--STEPH'S GONNA WRESTLE AGAIN, OH YAY.....Oh, I can't even muster up some fake excitement at this time of the day. Seriously, Steph and Zack vs. the BIG SHOW?! I'll assume that's for next week, and I'm so stoked I can't even muster up a smile. Still, Cena, Hardy and Ultimo are worth a look, so I think I will when the show airs on SATURDAY here in Philly, ugh.

Well, Rey was doing commentary and they did show SOMEONE sitting at ringside. It didn't look a thing like Billy Kidman if you ask me, but hey, people usually come back from injuries looking different...

I would've liked to see even a *tiny* bit of a reaction from the Undertaker for what happened to his brother on Monday. Just show him watching a replay on a monitor for a couple of seconds and putting his head down. That's it. I would have excused the crossover.

so I think I will when the show airs on SATURDAY here in Philly, ugh.

Again? Aww, man...

Anyway, on to the show!

Looking forward to:
1) Dragon/Moore
2) 6-man ME tag match
3) Knoble vignette
4) Rhyno/Benoit vs. Bashams

Bitching:
1) Gunn over Kanyon? Blah. Such a waste.
2) Glad to see the ME (featuring the current champ, a guy who came back in record time from a serious neck injury, the former tag champs, and a guy they've built into a serious ME heel) turned into an excuse to further this insipid Mr. America/Vince/Gowan storyline. There's so many directions they could go in (Angle vs. his former proteges, Angle vs. Show, Brock vs. Show, Angle/Brock dissension), but they instead set up a Show vs. Steph/Gowan match. PLEASE STOP THE PAIN!
3) Marky-Mark goes over the FBI again. What fun! They spend the time to build the FBI into a serious heel stable and a somewhat credible threat, only to job them all out to Taker after his return. Just a few months ago everybody was singing Taker's praises for working w/ the mid-card guys, but maybe somebody can alert me when he actually PUTS SOMEBODY OVER.
4) Read in other spoilers that Rikishi kicks out of an early Twist of Fate from Mattitude. WTF?

Yeah, that pissed me off too, but then Matt kicked out of the Rikishi Driver, a move so deadly it's only used once in a blue moon, and countered the Bonzai Drop so it made Matt look a dozen times stronger than Rikishi.

Considering Undertaker tried to unmask Kane himself back in 2000, I doubt he really felt bad about it.

Besides, considering he used to dress as Kane years ago, I'm sure Taker is aware what Kane looks like, unless he happened to have his own Kane costume.

If WWE willingly fed Rikishi to Matt Hardy, it should show that they're serious about a push this time around. Matt Hardy as U.S. champ would own and it's one step away from what has the potential to be this year's best feud:

Matt Hardy versus a freshly-turned John Cena

What is Mattitude?
Utilizing the belief system and work ethic (Mattributes) of THE Matt Hardy to create a better life for yourself by fulfilling your goals and dreams. Mattitude is a quality that can help anyone -- regardless of background or past -- to achieve success. You just have to make it a lifestyle, a mindset, a religion. Mattitude, is something that can not be taught or learned. Mattitude is something that burns within. In the ring, Mattitude is the intangible, the x-factor, that gives me an advantage over everyone else.

Why doesn't anyone seem as pissed as I am about Rhyno and Benoit on Velocity? Great, they'll be stuck wrestling Albert again.

Ok, either put Gowen to wrestle or get him off of my TV. Seriously. And Vince. Let that little accident be a lesson to you that your schtick has become OLD and TIRED and that you need to back off.
Boy, Raw is slowly becoming my fave show. I don't think this has happened yet.

Alright, Ultimo Dragon's atleast on TV. Cool. They'd better not be planning to bury him.

Yes it's true It's False (ok, i just confused myself) a Matt vs. Cena feud would totally own, and I think it's the most logical finals for the US Title. It's about time someone not only beat Rikishi but looked strong against him. I'm so tired of him totally destroying everyone every single week. And then what's even worse is after Rikishi squashes everyone they never actually do anything with him. If all his squashing led to some kind of story then it would atleast be justified. So it's good to see Rikishi finally get owned by somebody. I'd be happy with Cena or Matt as US Champ but I'm hoping Matt.

Also for the Spaceman, you didn't mention one other scenario, Brock vs. HIS former teammate Shelton. I think that's the best way to go from here. Have Angle/Lesnar team up against Team Angle (what are they calling them now?) but more specifically pairing them off Shelton vs. Lesnar (like I said former teammates) and then Angle vs. Haas who really seems to be stepping up in my opinion, and going up against Angle can only help.

Sure Hogan vs. Big Show is going to suck but it's better than Hogan stinking up Lesnar and Big Show stinking up Angle or vice versa.

Really though look at the possible lineup for the ppv
Hogan vs. Show
Angle/Lesnar vs. Benjamin/Haas
Cena vs. Matt ??
Eddie vs. O'Haire (or their tag teams)
Ultimo vs. Kidman
Benoit vs. Cena

Even if they throw in a Rikishi or a Billy match that's a pretty heckuva a lineup minus Hogan/Show and whatever they do with Zac
