Once again, I am here first. I have the Velocity and Smackdown spoilers below with my comments in bold, and believe me, I have plenty after skimming through them. From the Observer site, here we go!

Dark matches & Velocity:

Crowd: less than half full. Maybe 5,000-6,000? Crowd dead for much of
the night...fairly uneventful show; went through the paces.

DARK MATCHES

1. Shawn O'Haire & Shannon Moore beat Jonah Andelman & Chad Wicks -- Moore pinned Wicks jobber. This guy O' Haire's a pro for doing all these Velocity matches and dark matches without complaining at all. Still, he can be so much more. Say EVOLUTION!

2. Horseshoe pinned Billy Berger.

VELOCITY

1. FBI defeated Orlando Jordon, Scotty Too Hotty & Rikishi when Stromboli pinned Jordan.

2. Haas & Benjamin defeated Ultimo Dragon & Funaki, when Haas made Dragon submit to the "Haas
of Pain".

3. Spanky & Paul London defeated John Walters & Bryan Danielson (London scores pin).

4. Rhyno pinned Kanyon with a "gore".

And now, SMACKDOWN, from 411 wrestling!

WWE Smackdown tapings

SMACKDOWN TAPINGS

(1) Kurt Angle over Nathan Jones by DQ when Matt Morgan interfered. People had no clue who Morgan was. Bob Holly made the save and called out Lesnar. He went to the back where Paul Heyman told him he wasn't cleared to wrestle until Sunday and if he attacked Lesnar and got hurt he'd be out of Survivor Series. This was just there as Holly got the standard polite "we haven't seen you in a while" pop.

* Vince and Sable segment. Vince had a nightmare about death.
Don't we all? But that doesn't mean we give a damn about you having one.

Jamie Noble called out Tajiri. He entered with the Yakuza and attacked Noble until Rey Jr. made the save. They then announced Heyman made it a tag match. However, since there were 3 Japanese guys out there, we had to guess who was going to wrestle until Yang and Sakada got in the ring. This was pretty good. The Yakuza won when Tajiri interfered. According to the announcement Jimmy Yang's name has been changed to something like Akita. Rey was probably the 3rd most over guy of the night. If it's Akira, I'll go postal. I see Japanese guys named Jimmy all the time. Honestly, naming japanese mobsters after anime characters. You might as well call Sakada Jiro! Kikaider rocks, by the way.

They did another bit in the back when a cop told Eddie Guerrero that his wife's sister was in a car accident and he had to get back to El Paso. Chavo was upset about losing the title shot but then told Eddie to go and he'd ask Heyman to postpone it. This happened a couple years ago with Taker, I remember. That was a waste of time too.

Heyman agreed to postpone the match until Sunday. The Bashams said they wanted to wrestle and challenged Chavito to a handicap match. Heyman booked it and said it was next. Why they went through with this instead of just booking the tag title match for the Survivors Series in the first place is beyond me. Would have been so much more logical that way. Came to the wrong promotion for that, buddy, logic went extinct in 2001, remember?

(2) The Bashams beat Chavo Guerrero Jr. in a handicap match. First, they never said Jr. which I find disrespectful to Chavo Sr (same goes for Rey Sr). Then the Bashams and Linda Miles destroyed Chavo after the match. For the life of me, I will NEVER understand why they continue to book handicapped matches. What positive can ever come from them? If the 2 guys win, big deal 2 guys beat one guy. If the guy by himself wins, the tag team is buried after all they couldn't even beat one guy. So how does anyone gain anything with a handicapped match? I don't get it, isn;t this booking 101? Once again, you're in the wrong promotion for that, bud.

Next a segment where Undertaker is talking from a graveyard.

Bradshaw came out. After some quick process of elimination I deduced he'd be wrestling A-Train. Choo Choo, here's the damn A-Train. Kill me now. So, I also figured out this was the time to go to the bathroom. Apparently Albert and Bradshaw matches have that effect on a lot of people because the can was packed. Upon returning to my seat I was still allowed the pleasure of seeing Bradshaw win with a clothesline. Whoopie. I can go home happy now.

But wait! It gets better. Sable thinks Vince needs help. So she brings... Father Frank! And here we all thought Rev. D-von or Brother Love was Vince's spiritual advisor. Anyway Vince asks the priest to pray for him. He starts to and Vince interrupts, constantly. This was so bad. The crowd started to chant Boring and a smattering of boos were heard. This was NOT heat. This was the "we are sick of you get off TV" reaction. I can't tell you how bad this was, words do not exist in the English language to describe how bad this was.
Wow. It was only a matter of time, but.. Screw this, next!

Now things, got better. No, they don't we just get an Ernest Miller Video. I seriously think they were trying to get people to leave at this point. Only a fire alarm could have got people to the exits quicker. The place had about 8000 to start and there looked to be way less than that at this point.

(3) Chris Benoit & John Cena beat Big Show & Brock Lesnar. Cena completely gave away his face turn by wearing a retro Julius Erving Nets jersey with matching hat. His rap was the highlight of the night. He is the only one on the show actually over. (actually, Cena, Rey and Angle were the only ones really over all night). This was good but people were on there feet to make a dash for the door as soon as the three count hit (seriously, people were at the doors before the ring announcer said good night). Cena and Benoit won when Cena pinned Show after a shot with the chain. Apparently, Cena beating Show clean might have resulted in his getting more over, which coming off of his big face turn wasn't deemed necessary.
I feel so sorry for those brave souls who paid to see this show. God bless you all, and if I had your addresses, I'll make sure Father Frank prays for all of you. If you think THAT was offensive, than I saved you the trouble of watching this show.

So this was three hours of my life I'll never get back. A truly bad show. I you want to be entertained Thursday night watch Scrubs.

So ends another Smackdown. The last one before Survivor Series, believe it or not. I think all the Post production in the world could not save this one. Comments are welcome.

I'll ignore the sarcasm and pointless ramblings from the irritating turd of a recapper, and just say that Velocity looks pretty darn good. As for Smackdown, other spoilers indicate the Yakuza match was good and Yang looked impressive, as did Chavo in the handicap match. I'm glad there's a lack of harmony in Team Angle for the PPV, it makes things more interesting.

The problem with spoilers is that people tend to not liek a show even though if they watched the show going in cold, they'd probably like it. Count in the fact that a spoiler writer may be like this tool and write everything negative, you can understand why some would have a negative impression.

My main question: When did Rhyno or Kanyon turn face?

Why Pro Wrestling proves the INS cannot keep terrorists out of the United States: If a felon like Nathan Jones is allowed into the United States with no special skills (unless being totally inept in the ring counts, but I think there are enough totally inept people in the US to keep that skill from being unique or special), then how the hell can they justify keeping anyone else out?

Uh, I know that you guys weren't referring to little ol' me (probably), but watching a WWE TV taping is a bit of an endurance test. If you get segment after segment of something boring or lame, then you damn right you're gonna piss all over it. From my standpoint, seeing the difference between seeing the spoilers and looking at the finished product on TV, I honestly think that this is one lame "hard sell" for the PPV, mark my words!

I think most of the other posters were referring to the recapper's words, not yours. If you want to comment on the spoilers, that's fine by me. But if you are sending in the spoilers personally, JUST TELL US WHAT HAPPENED! You can add a little smarkiness, but don't go as overboard as this guy. I don't need to know all his thoughts on handicap matches.

BTW, here's why handicap matches work- they allow the audience to really root for the one guy who is fighting "against all odds." If the one guy wins, it is because he is able to overcome and find a way to outsmart the two guys (and outsmart the booker of the match in some instances). Or in this case, it allowed a national audience to hopefully sympathize for Chavo right before the PPV. If Chavo turns, it might just be that much more dramatic and surprising because of Chavo's honorable actions on Thursday (outside of us smarks who can see the turn coming).

Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.

TS, the greatest Wiener rated 6.1554 ever to live!! Oops, I mean 5.5...4.5?? Oh, dammit! I guess Notorious FAB was right.

Neither did. My question is: did they have to flip a coin to determine the winner? Rhyno has been buried, and Kanyon gets wasted in dark matches (both deserve better), so I'm sure there was a lot of confusion as to who would pick up the win.

SD looks OK, and Velocity looks fantastic.

Well, Eddie was able to beat the Bashams 2 on 1, but Chavo can't. Eddie seems to be able to out-cheat his little nephew. Seems like something Eddie could hold over Chavo to keep the little shit in line. Good thing that tag title match wasn't at stake for Sunday. But that's just me thinking out loud.

So 4th row tickets landed in my lap 2 hours before the show...

I invite a first timer and a once faithful WWE watcher who has been out of it for a year or two.

I decided to post my observations and those of my guests just so you can compare the different levels of fandom.

Fact 1. Sean O'haire is over, and plays to the crowd pretty well for a dark match

Fact 2. The Jonah chant was one of the top five of the night.

Fact 3. I was surrounded by at least 5 women and a dozen children who chanted for Spanky more than any other superstar.

Smackdown Begins

Angle and Jones: Jones has Generic Big Man Offense. Angle carries this broom to a watchable match. Holly...YES Hardcore Holly gets BIGGEST pop of the night.

Fact: Everyone who isn't a smark in my section is absolutely AWED by Jones physique.

Noble and Tajiri: I swear I heard crickets until Tajiri took the mic and started barking orders in his language. At this point the crowd was audibly laughing with every one of his outbursts.

Fact: Rey Rey is over and the evil foreigner gimmick is still over with 80% of the casual fans.

Bashams and Guerrero: No Eddie = No Heat except for the usual highspots and post match beatdown.

Fact: Bashams aren't as bad as everyone says...but I can't help think that Raven should've been their handler...even O'haire.

Bradshaw and A-Train: I can deal with A-Train because at least he looks like he can kick some ass.

Fact: My once loyal guest refuses to believe that that is Bradshaw because he doesn't remember Bradshaw being so awful. (heh)

Main Event: Cena gets second biggest pop of the night. Benoit gets as big a pop as Lesnar. Big Show plays the crowd BIGTIME. Lesnar is match MVP and worked his ass off out there.

Fact: BigShow works the fans into a frenzy with his comments from the apron. Lesnar still gets the babyface pops. Benoit NEEDS a heel turn. And Cena is lightning in a bottle.

Final Facts: Cena merch was EVERYWHERE. The crowd was NOT, I REPEAT NOT, confused by Cena giving Benoit the F-U. So Freebird Hayes is spot on with the ending. Had Undertaker been there his pop would've surpassed Cena's. During the Wrestlemania videos, Hogan and Ultimate Warrior got huge reactions.

Biggest Pops
1. Holly
2. Angle/Cena
3. Anytime Undertaker appeared onscreen / Flair "whoooos" BEFORE the darkmatches even started.

Most Heat
1. Lesnar
2. Triple H video
3. T-shirt guy stopping his free t-shirt gun. ( I am NOT exagerrating)

Best Chant
1. "Subway! Subway! Subway!" directed at Bigshow
2. "First row sucks!" Section 228 BEHIND the Smackdowntron.
3. "Gay-Train"

Best Sign
1. A-Train Rules...just to get on camera. =)

My old time WWF watcher guest: "Where's Rock?"
My first time to a WWE event guest: "Dude that first guy was f'n huge", "I'll come along next time this was fun."

My observations:

-I've never been to an emptier WWE event. I remember during the attitude era the arena was standing room only.

-Angle won't last much longer at this rate. Watch the backstage bit and you'll see how iced and bandaged up he is post match.

-A LOT more children and new fans than I've ever talked to

-A LOT more women than before.

-There is nothing cooler than a 4 year-old kid on his dad's shoulders putting up the Cena hand sign and yelling "Word Life!"

Hope my little version of SD is entertaining.

That Kevin Thorn match belonged on Derby City Wrestling, not ECW. It was so bad though that it ended up being high comedy. I still like the Balls/Miz feud, although I will point out that Miz can't punt like Snitsky can. Shame really.
