Spike beat Rey for the title thanks to Dudleyz inteference. London and Kidman beat the Dudleyz to retain the tag titles thanks to Rey interfering. Booker won an 8-man elimination match to win the U.S. title (other participants: Cena, RVD, Haas, Gunn, Suzuki, Dupree, Reigns) Teddy Long announced as the GM, and he's apparently playing face now, as he dissed on Booker for haterizing and Angle (who will wrestle next week) for making excuses.
No Taker, JBL squashed Shannon Moore on Velocity (I can't believe they blow a Summerslam ME on that show), some Eddie/Angle stuff.
So only 3 matches... oh well, Long is enough to capture my attention. B'le dat.
Looks like they're treating Teddy with an immediate push of "let's make this guy look competent and credible," which helps give reason to having a GM around. I thought we had that with Heyman, but not Angle or Steph. So no elections for the GM yet. Hopefully we can enjoy a long stay with Teddy as GM. No more playing musical chairs, alternating the GM every few months, please!! ;P
The Dudleys/Spike storyline is still making me more interested by the week.
Glad to see Booker T holding the US title again. He might be able to elevate it more than Cena. Here's hoping for good things. Although he would look better with a short buzzcut or a shorter version of his Harlem Heat cut (the one he had when he won the WCW Title) in my opinion. I strongly dislike seeing the way-too-long dreads on him every week I watch. Anyone else find it annoying?
In fact, if I can speak about Booker a little more... why not offer Sharmell Sullivan, his girlfriend who lives at his home in Houston, a job. Give Booker some attitude change now. He dresses stylish from time to time, so why not let him start walking around like he's got wealth, status, and a beautiful woman by his side. I'm even thinking it could be good to give him a little "posse" of sorts, like many celebrities have. There's still hope for Booker to be taken seriously again and seen as a legitimate top contender. Some character is better than none, I say.
Things look brighter for Smackdown. Next week, we get to see Spike & Rey vs the Dudleys, so that storyline should set up a match or two for Summerslam. The predictions of a 6-man tag match are now looking closer to reality.
And Luther Reigns appears to be enjoying a similar introduction into the company to Kevin Nash's first one as Diesel. Slow but steady, and I don't mind Luther's matches. Nash didn't show any personality or charisma until he set off on his own away from HBK, so I'm willing to give Luther a fair chance at establishing himself.

I have 2 words for you: STEVIE RAY.
Seriously, have Sharmell & Stevie Ray hang around as Booker's posse. Hell, give Booker an "agent", too. Lamont isn't doing anything. Why not?

Are we sure Lamont's still under contract? It's hard to imagine WWE shelving a guy without an injury (and/or letting his contract expire) for that long...unless he's in OVW, in which case I'll stand corrected. I mean, he hasn't been used in what, a little over six months? I will say that I thought he was entertaining, can't say anything else as I haven't seen him in any other role.
Thoughts on the spoilers:
- I'm gonna miss heel Teddy Long (if they do keep him face), but on the same token I'm glad they're not going with the same old tired heel GM thing. It's one of those things they've really run into the ground, and was old well before Bischoff started at RAW.
- I can't see the point of the whole angle between Bubba & D-Von and Spike. I can't really see Spike working as a heel, and if he stays face, then what's the point? A feud between the Dudley Boyz and Spike/Mysterio? Talk about snoozefest.
- Fire Suzuki. Now.
- Glad to see Booker T as the United States Champion...maybe now they'll actually acknowledge the belt rather than it being a prop once in awhile for Cena.
Has anybody else been enjoying Smackdown a little more in recent weeks, or is it just me?

A feud about a team of underdogs that people get behind easily that fights the two big bullies can be interesting . Add to that the somewhat interesting plot 3/4th of them are relatives..Plus these guys can put on decent matches. I like it..
WHy fire Suzuki this week? THe spoilers don't say anything about him hurting anyone or anything. Based on the past 2-3 weeks I am starting to enjoy Kenzo a bit more. They seem to have realised the angry thing didn't work out and make it a bit more light hearted.
As for Lamont..he might still be under contract. I don't believe they were paying him much anyways (prolly a developmental deal) and they might have use for him later. They keep a lot of unused people around for years (either on reserve or in OVW)
Err..on to Smackdown. WOnder how this works on tv. Totally no Taker-JBL stuf seems somewhat odd. Unless it won't be their main event?

The full spoilers say that JBL opened Velocity by cutting a promo on Taker saying that if he hadn't already wrestled a match before Taker came out last week he would have floored him with one punch instead of getting Chokeslammed. He then squashed Shannon Moore.
They also aired a JBL package on SD which was apparently a sort of over the top political broadcast telling the story of JBL's rise to greatness, and the injuries and difficulties he overcame along the way.
Taker, um, did nothing. But come one, three words and a chokeslam last week dude! Man needs a break ya know
I think the fact that Smackdown's champion has been on TV for a total of ten minutes is probably helping things. If Bradshaw is on Velocity then you know they are setting things up for the title to change hands or Velocity is not the hell we think it is for wrestlers. I'm not really happy with Booker being champion, because the US title is beneath him. He should have been the one to take the belt off of Eddie, not Hoss boy. All in all, it looks like an ok Smackdown. Glad to see Teddy is the GM and psuedo face too.

HHH, Angle, Brock, Taker, Orton, and Kane have all been on Heat or Velocity at one time or another while receiving decent pushes so I wouldn't read too much into it, if anything at all.
Hey, 3 matches on Smackdown but it was a darn good show LIVE! Infact during the EDDIE/ANGLE ending I'm on TV conducting Angles music like a maestro. Look for the guy in the green ugly Bigdogs shirt and gray knit shorts. HOUSE SHOW RESULTS FROM Huntington WV, 7-26-04

It is weird that they would put JBL on velocity as the champ. I think HHH was on Heat last year during the summer when he had the belt. I sure hope that they don't give Taker the belt. He's completely worthless. As much as I didn't think JBL would be a good champ (I still like Eddie better), I think that his character where he's a heel trying to be a fan favorite, is pretty interesting. And besides, what can Taker do? He can't cut a good promo as the Dead Man, and his matches all revolve around him being sorta impervious to pain.
Haas gets a US title shot and is the first eliminated *sigh*
I don't think the Mysterio/Spike vs. Dudleys is all that interesting. Sure at one point in time they could all put on decent matches, but I haven't seen anything decent out of the 3 Dudleys for a long time.
I guess Booker winning the US title is cool, certainly better than Cena at this point. I still think RVD is your best choice for any title after Eddie and Angle though.
Smackdown is getting better but that's not saying much considering how bad it was.
Triple H did wrestle on Heat once when he was champion, but I'm pretty sure he appeared the next night on Raw too while JBL was not only on Velocity but absent from Smackdown. I don't know what they are thinking, Eddie was never in the main event towards the end of his reign and now the Champion is on the B show.

I remember that Raw was in Montreal and Triple H (who was champ) did not appear on that episode but was on Heat earlier that night and fought Maven.

For what its worth HHH also fought Bob Holly (no contest) for the old WWF title on Heat pre brand extension. After a little research it would appear he was also on RAW that week against Jericho. Which may or may not prove something.
Teddy looks like he’s going to be a GM in the mold of Stephanie McMahon. Capable of being face or heelish as needed, but the important thing is that he puts the show first. And it doesn't hurt that he can work the mic to bring the dollah dollah bills. Buhlee dat, playa.
Slammiversary is more SummerSlam. Bound For Glory is supposed to be their Wrestlemania. I really would have prefered Tomko, because it's logical to take out the partner that betrayed him first.
