Yeah, it's my birthday, so I'm bringing the Smackdown spoilers, so here they are, courtesy of prowrestling.com:

SmackDown! Taping Results

Tajiri cuts a promo on screen that shows him spitting on an Alabama hat. HUGE heat for that.

Tajiri and Nunzio d. Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman
Rey down to THUNDEROUS pop. Kidman down to NO reaction. Tajiri and Nunzio down to MASSIVE heat. Very good match with Tajiri getting the win with a stiff kick on Rey. Rey and Kidman play to the crowd afterwards.

Stephanie, Vince, Brock promo
Brock wants a warm up match and requests to take on Angle, Undertaker, and Gowen all at once. Stephanie announces none of them are here tonight. Long-winded promo ending in Vince forcing Stephanie to wrestle Brock or quit. Stephanie leaves without making a decision.

Torrie, Nidia, and Dawn Marie promo - The three divas begin plans to get rid of Shanequa.

Shanequa and Dawn Marie battle to NO CONTEST
SMALL pops for both women. Dawn Marie is absolutely gorgeous in person. Shanequa has an incredible physique. Total squash that saw Torrie and Nidia run down to make the save. Torrie delivered a weak chair shot to Shanequa and the three divas ran in fear. VERY smart move!

Chris Benoit d. Rhyno
HUGE pop for Benoit. Rhyno down to MODEST heat. Intense, hard-hitting match. Benoit wins with the cross-face.

Eddie Guerrero d. John Cena in LATINO STREET FIGHT
John Cena raps and has the crowd hysterical. Excellent brawl ending in complete carnage. Massive damage to cars. Cena tries to use a lawnmower on Eddy and Eddy stabs Cena with a key. Match ends with Cena being thrown onto a car and Chavo Guerrero smashing a plate over Cena's head. Eddie frog splashes Cena on the car! Holy shit. Eddie and Chavo celebrate and leave. Cena leaves a bloody mess.

APA d. Matt Hardy V.1 and Shannon Moore
APA down to MASSIVE pop. Hardy and Moore down to GOOD pop. Awesome pants on Hardy. Typical match ending in a sick clothesline from Bradshaw to Moore. Bradshaw drinks a ton of beers afterwards

Stephanie McMahon and Brock Lesnar battle to a NO contest
Vince McMahon out to a DEAFENING pop. Vince is God in Birmingham as more than half the crowd bows. The reaction has Vince estatic and he introduces the next WWE champion, Brock Lesnar, to a TREMENDOUS mixed reaction. Stephanie comes down to a MASSIVE pop and refuses to fight Lesnar. Lesnar roughhouses Stephanie for awhile but Stephanie eventually kicks Lesnar and Vince in the grapefruits. Steph leaves but is caught by Lesnar. Finally, Kurt Angle comes down to the LARGEST pop of the night. Angle beats on the heels until they retreat.

OFF THE AIR

Angle says he's not ready to leave Birmingham and challenges Brock to a match tonight. Lesnar refuses, Angle calls him a pussy, and he continues to refuse. Brock attempts to leave and Angle runs him down, and ....

Kurt Angle d. Brock Lesnar to retain WWE title
Excellent match with all the big spots. Lesnar kicks out of the Angle slam and ANgle kicks out of the F-5. Lesnar gives Angle a second F-5 and hesitates. Lesnar goes to the top for the shooting star press but angle nips up and gives Lesnar a belly-to-belly from the top. Angle locks in the ankle lock and drags Lesnar from corner to corner until he taps AGAIN. Big Show comes down to BIG heat and receives an ankle lock for his trouble. Big Show leaves, Angle leaves, and Lesnar lies against the guard rail crying. Lesnar leaves to HUGE heat.

That's right, Steph's in the main event, aren't you EXCITED?!

Man, I was considering going to Raw since I haven't been to a show since the six man hell in cell Armageddon but decided against it since Eddie and Cena was the big match and it was going to be in the parking lot. But sure enough they bring out Benoit vs. Rhyno and Kurt vs. Brock, plus Matt's return. They always put on a good show when I DON'T go and a mediocre show when I do go. Sounds like the crowd was hot, which it usually is in Birmingham.

Velocity Spoilers, courtesy of 411:

Jamie Noble w/ Nidia d. Chris Kanyon
Who Betta Than Kanyon? Everybody according to Birmingham as Kanyon comes down to BIG heat. Noble and Nidia get a NICE pop. Noble gets the pinfall with a roll-up and handful of tights. Nice match with lots of near falls and innovative moves by Kanyon.

Basham Brothers w/ Shanequa d. Jobbers
Basham's and Shanequa down to MIXED reaction. Total squash match that saw Shanequa deliver a huge powerbomb to one of the jobbers when the ref was distracted. She got a huge pop for that.

The World's Greatest Tag Team d. Funaki and Ultimo Dragon
Funaki and Dragon down to a HUGE pop. The World's Greatest Tag Team down to HUGE heat. Again, a good, fast paced match. Hass and Benjamin win with their tandem finisher.

Velocity looks pretty damn good. Gimme Knoble/Kanyon on SD.

As for SD, some good stuff, and some crap. Cruiser tag, Cena/Eddy, and Benoit/Rhyno look good.

APA over Hardy/Moore? WTF? Hardy comes back after missing the last few weeks due to a concussion, and gets to job to the APA? And why are the APA suddenly the strongest team on SD?

And what happened to the Kidman heel turn?

Looks as if Smackdown will have a good show this week. thanks god Steph refused to wrestle. i can't stand seeing her in the ring unless it's just her getting tossed around for a minute or two.
Shaniqua is the new bitch in town. lets hope she destroys the world. Or I would settle for her destroying Bradshaw!

and thats all i have to say about that!

It still amazes me at how much TV time La Resistance can get on RAW as tag team champions, but Haas and Benjamin are stuck on Velocity once again ...

My thoughts exactly.

I can't image they have such short memories but on the basis they do, wouldn't they be better served with some sort of computer system with character profiles/feuds etc.

Each time they come back to book an angle/match, they enter the two names (or more) into the system which brings up the two characters interactions throughout their tenure in WWE. And they can then USE those interactions and reflect them in the current booking.

Hell, all they had to do was have Dawn apologies for killing Torrie's dad on last weeks SD (no doubt Torrie would have accepted it in return for some more HLA) and then play this angle this week.

1. Happy B-day Ringmistress! My present to you would be to pay for NWA:TNA for free, but I am unemployed and I just can't justify spending that much change :-)

2. About Torrie and Dawn Marie, it obvious to me that Shaniqua is SO much more important than family. In fact, we ALL can come together, all races and creeds and beliefs, in the knowledge that Shaniqua must PAY!

Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.

This is what RD Reynolds refers to as MMS - MacMahon Memory Syndrome, which is the condition that causes an individual to forget everything that occured prior to the last PPV.

One of the old writers, Chris Kreski, used to have a big flowchart that the writing staff used to track where each character was in relation to the other (a helpful hint in the days of the rapid-fire Russo turns). It came in handy for storylines like Vince was revealed as the higher power, and thus Ken Shamrock (who had fought valiantly at Vince's side against the Ministry) felt betrayed and turned on Vince. Of course, this was back when there was actually some long-term planning in WWE storylines.

Wasn't there some story last year about WWE hiring some guy as a "continuity expert" to keep track of storylines, and then firing him after about a week because he kept complaining about how little sense everything made?

"When this bogus term alternative rock was being thrown at every '70s retro rehash folk group, we were challenging people to new sonic ideas. If some little snotty anarchist with an Apple Mac and an attitude thinks he invented dance music and the big rock group is coming into his territory, [that's] ridiculous." - Bono, 1997

I recall something vaguely along the lines of a person being employed in that sort of position leaving very shortly afterwords.

What I don't understand is why? There is so much (and I really mean SO MUCH) they can do with the history of characters to generate new feuds and alliances as well as crediting the viewers with actual intelligence by retaining the integrity of the characters interactions.

They certainly wouldn't have to resort to basing feuds on spilled cups of coffee.

One such example is the HHH-Steph on screen breakup. We all know HHH & Steph broke up on screen, what I don't understand is why they never used the unexplained angle where Steph went "missing" the night after Summerslam a few years ago when the HHH-Steph-Angle triangle was hot. I recall her saying she was at the hospital with Shane after his match with Blackman, but somehow this wasnt true - too long ago for me to recall the exact details. I don't understand why that wasn't tied into the breakup, it was a big deal then and would have been a bigger deal at a later date.

Congratulations to Kanyon for moving up two spots to third worst record! He's moving on up! Watch out Goldberg! And I think taking out tag matches would be stupid. They do count towards peoples records.
