Okay, you've been warned it's a spoiler, so no whining. Edge and Hogan beat Chuck and Billy for the tag titles at the special Fourth of July Smackdown (complete with Hogan's old "Real American" music).
When Edge first got injured I thought of a possible return for him but quickly pushed it aside. Now, however, I think it just might work:
Turn Edge heel.
Why? Hogan caused his injury. Yeah, Jericho exacerbated it, but Hogan caused it. Angle had won their cage match until Hogan came down and threw him back in the cage. It was after that where Edge injured his shoulder.
Theoretically, Edge could blame Hogan for his injury then, and turn on him to lose the tag titles. "Hogan, I blame YOU for my injury. Sure I would have lost the match, but I wouldn't have missed a month of action. I wouldn't have been in a weakened position for Jericho to attack me, and I wouldn't have a sore shoulder for the rest of my life! Why? So you could get a little revenge and show your wrinkled face to the crowd."
Lord knows the WWF needs more top heels, and I think he could be one. Heck, this might even let him become the leader of the Canadian Mafia and use them a la the Horsemen for a long title run.
Thoughts? Stupid idea, or something that might be entertaining?
Considering that the Federation will likely stretch the Edge/Jericho feud to Summerslam to get two ****+ matches and oodles of crowd heat out of the deal, I think they'd be crazy to turn Edge at this point.
Next phase of this should be Jericho joining the Canadian faction, teaming with Lance Storm (THRILLSEEKERS!) to beat Edge & Hogan for the tag titles and get a GOOD DAMNED FEUD in that division going. God knows I wouldn't mind Hogan in that role - he's not at the top where he doesn't belong, there are three other Canadians to carry the quality of the matches (just put Edge in the Ricky Morton role and it'll work, every time) and it helps keep him hot and the McMahon feud off the backburner (remember, WM19).
BTW: They should have done the switch to "Real American" at the PPV, where it not only would have made more sense, but also more emotional and yet completely ridiculous at the same time (since Hogan was facing a "real American").

Well, Edge marks SHOULD hope for a heel turn. The classic formula for a new superstar usually involves one. Think Rock, Angle, HHH making their marks as heels.
WyldeWolf1 The Man of 1,007 holds, making him 3 holds better than Chris Jericho!
If they can think of something to do with Hogan in the meantime, it would probably be better to have Jericho cost Edge/HH the titles to Storm and Christian, and use that to continue the Y2J-Edge feud.
If Edge doesn't get some serious face heat in that feud though, it would probably be best to try him as a heel.

Well the standard for the WWF is to give a new main eventer a run as a heel main eventer first, then turn them face with their heel main event back ground being used to legitimize them. They cheated to get there, but once they did get there they were there to stay.
The only time there is an exception is when the WWF finds the guy they want as their next big face to base the promotion around. Hogan hit the main event scene as a face. So did Warrior, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin (though you could make a case for Austin being a main event heel first). So how much faith they have in edge's drawing ability will be evident by his face/heel status once he becomes a world champion, I guess.

Is this Hogan's first-ever tag title reign in the WWF? Wow. Where the hell are they going with this one, if not to have them beaten by Storm and Christian? Finally, some tag team action!

Michaels' case doesn't fall in with Hogan, Warrior, etc in terms of starting in the main event scene as a face. They were defintely pushing him as a main event heel originally. He was a heel IC champion that had ocassional main events with face world champ Bret Hart (Survior Series '92). Then he headlined Wrestlemania XI against Diesel as a heel. They were building him up in the traditional heel main eventer first mold of which you spoke till either politics or fan reaction (or both) turned him face the night after WM XI. That marked Michael's first face run in the WWF as a singles, and ended when he fueded with 'Taker in Fall of 1997.
Now, Diesel you might actually be able to put in the group with Warrior and Hogan. They turned him face, then like a week later he was the world champion and the WWF was running on "Diesel Power (ugh)." It was defintely a case of the WWF pushing a monster face in the main event scene, and having the fed centered around him. Of course, we all know that Diesel Power ran out of gas, and Nash was gone within a year and a half.

Yep - first time Hogan has won a championship that WASN'T the World Title.
Well, Edge marks SHOULD hope for a heel turn.
I sure don't. I think he should be given a chance right now as a face to run with the ball seeing as how the WWF/E is chronically low on top babyfaces to build around. Outside of Booker, RVD and Edge - who else do they have?
Edge should definitely be a face. I don't think Smackdown needs more main event heels. They have Angle and Jericho already.
Speaking of Jericho, why does everyone want him in this Canadian stable? His character is way too good and diverse to need to be forced into ripping on America week in and week out. Plus, that should be Lance Storm's vehicle, not Jerichos, and no matter how you put it, Storm would be second fiddle to Jericho. Let Jericho be Jericho, he doesn't need to waste his time in that one-dimensional gimmick that's already starting to get tired. The "let's see how many different ways we can say the same thing" act they pulled on Smackdown sure sucked.
Hardcore Holly and Val Venis-Next WWE Tag Team Champions.
I agree that Edge should stay a face, and that Jericho should not be a member of Team Canada. Team Canada should stay the same, we don't want another NWO.

Another aspect of this is that the commentators (as well as Edge himself) have been hyping that Edge has looked up to Hogan as a hero. Hogan is supposed to be the man that got Edge wanting to BE a wrestler when he was younger. They tell that whole touching story of him sneaking into the PPV to watch Hogan, and he was hooked on it from that point on.
Now I'm not saying Edge couldn't be turned heel at some point, but it certainly shouldn't be while he is partners with Hogan. Even if Hogan is to blame for causing his injury, he is still Edge's childhood hero. When you think of someone as a hero, they can do no wrong. Edge could possibly be a heel a few years from now, but keep him a face for now.

Not only is this Hogan's first every tag title. It is his first non world title in his career. Hogan has always been the champ or chasing the belt. I think Hogan would make a great tag wrestler. He could do his crappy power offense and then rest. It is when Hogan tries to go for 10 minutes or more that he looks really bad. As far as turning Edge it has possibilities. But also I can think of what the WWE might do. Hogan needs a partner. So who better than Flair. Then we could have to geezer super champ team. It could be O.K. or it could be really bad. Plus that would mean another Flair Hogan feud and who wants that again?
I just have 13 words for you. How much wood would a woodchuch chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Besides, Hogan is the beast cheater ever. Unlike the other jabronis who cheat to gain a fleeting advantage, when he cheats, the fight is over. I'm surprised he doesn't do it more often.
Like Austin, his cheating ability can be most optimized in a tag team match.

AMEN. Let's allow Storm to be the BMOC in this angle. If Jericho would to take part in it he would either dominate the gimmick or take a step back from where he is now. Unless it gets HUGE, keep Y2J away from the Canadian storyline!
I think Edge should stay face. I loved Edge & Christian as heels, they are probably my favorite tag team ever. But Edge is doing fine as a face and there are plenty of bad guys for him to fight. If he went heel, what top notch guys would he face? Hogan & HHH? Not much to choose from. At least this way he has had a run with Kurt Angle, now Jericho, and others who are already there and those who are on their way to Smackdown.

No Macho was WWF champ when the Powers were together. Also I think they were only a team for about 2 months. Just long enough to set up the Hogan's best friend who later betrays him gimmick. Ugh Tugboat.

I am having flashbacks of "Gang Warfare". I see all these stables starting and actually, that was the beginning of the Attitude years. I see the possibility of the Flock, 4 Horsemen joining the NWO. I am a fan of it though.
