Good point, OlFuzzy. Rey Rey's was definitely after Jamie's, so your logic seems to be right on. And if they both come out (Anthology and SD!) on the 12th, then the next seven days are going to be composed mainly of me putting money in Vince McMahon's pocket. I'm gonna buy me some Ruthless Aggression probably tomorrow, a little Anthology on the 12th, and a little SmackDown! as soon as I get some more money, or just on the 12th. I tell ya, it's GOOD to have some cash, but it's EVEN BETTER to have no cash and a lot of good stuff!

Why do I watch? Because every episode has the potential to be the best one ever, and I'll be DAMNED if I'm gonna miss that one after sitting through this shit.

Software Etc. isn't getting Smackdown until the 14th (I was a tool and pre-ordered), while Anthology hits store shelves everywhere on the 12th.

So they're a few days appart (actually, every place else I've been isn't getting SYM until the 15th, so, it seems as if the 14th is kind of early).

So you have about 2-3 days to save up you nickles after you buy Anthology.

Gamespot has their review of Smackdown!SYM up. They give it an 8.9. Sounded pretty cool. One catch though, if you are a fan of the women wrestlers, they are NOT playable in the season mode.

Just out of curiousity, who is everybody starting their season mode off with?

I was thinking about a CAW, but in the end I'm probably going to go with Van Dam or Angle. More likely than not I'm going to go through with RVD once because he's got a cheap and easy finisher to see what season mode is like, but I'm thinking Angle will have the more entertaining cut scenes (just like REAL wrestling!).

Any thoughts?

I'll probably start the season with either Chris Benoit or Kurt Angle, myself.

since TAKA isn't in the game, i'll have to use Tajiri or Benoit, build up the CAW points and options, and create me

I don't know... if they're keeping the multiple finishers thing from the last one, and there's no good reason they wouldn't, Angle would have the Ankle Lock, which is a ground finisher, which is probably the easiest type to execute.

That's probably my first choice, although the game paces itself different for main-eventers and mid-carders, so I might be tempted to build, say, a CAW Rey Mysterio to the World title.

I suppose that is true as it pertains to the Anglelock, I guess I hadn't really thought along those lines. The positioning required for both finishers (Five Star and Ankle lock) IS just about the same.

I don't know. I might just go with Angle.

On a side note, I was watching Stephanie's Entrace video, and it says "Stephanie McMahon - General Manager".

That's different. I thought the game stuck with Flair and Vince in those roles.

Oh, well. Thursday can't come fast enough...

My favorite Smackdown moment:

My CAW, a fat, bald, bad suit-wearing mofo has spent the better part of a year fighting to get a title shot. My first opportunity arrises and it's me vs. HHH...with Chyna as special guest ref (this was Smackdown 2 by the way). HHH charges me while I try a grapple. They resolve at the same time. Bossman Slam 1..2..3. New champ. No fast count. If anything, it was slow. That was what turned me off on the series. I felt like I should have earned that belt. It's just too random when it decides to let you be able to pin someone.

If I understand the previews correctly, season mode allows you to win the world title, run in on matches when you want, hang out with Vince and tell him you should have title shots and go into the locker rooms and badmouth other wrestlers you find there. I can't see not taking HHH through, it's like a Game Simulator.

With the new face-morphing feature, I think this will be the game that finally breaks the streak where the first guy I try to create will be Bret Hart, going back to War Zone (which I think was the last WWF game he was in). Oh, I'll still create him, but only after I try to make ALF, so he can team up with Hogan as the Melmaniacs.

It's gonna take four CAW spots, but we will be seeing Three Minute Warning take on George "Can't Spell Dubya Without Duh" Bush and Dick "The Dick" Cheney.

EDIT: And, if it's still in there, I'm gonna give Cheney Rhyno's entrance. Can't you picture him doing that hunched-over walk, pounding his chest and throwing his fist in the air?

From what I've been hearing, the second year of the Season mode has a VERY interesting storyline. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who doesn't want it spoiled, but if THIS is where they were going with the roster split, it might have been very interesting. Alot of people wouldn't have liked it, but I would have thought it was cool, at least.

Aw hell...Here...

Remember, this is a fairly major season mode spoiler. I was sad that I learned it before playing, but I'm excited to see how it plays out. Tred lightly...

According to what I've heard (with screenshots to back it up), about halfway through Season Mode, Vince and Flair team up to start drumming people off of their rosters. The game lets you decide to side with Flair/Vince or the excommunicated wrestlers or neither.

I'm not sure how this would have worked as it pertains to actual, WWE storylines, but this particular one may have been kind of cool. In one of the screenshots I saw, Brock turns on his fellow Wrestlers to side with the Owners, who also apparently have Undertaker.

Of course this would SEEM to indicate the end of the roster split in the game (with Flair and Vince working together), but I don't know that for sure.

But VERY Interesting indeed.

I've been playing for several hours now.

The season mode is fun if you can get around the quirks (sometimes your story doesn't always match up with what you're actually doing, for example I'm playing as RVD and was in a feud with, of all people, Rico. But at the PPV, I had a match against Jericho. Huh? But Every other PPV match I've had makes sense.)

The game is frustratingly realistic. Van Dam is way too bouncy for my taste, and his kicks are pretty weak as strikes. Undertaker has beaten me twice, because he's NO SOLD all of my offense. Honestly, I hit him with about 12 kicks, and not only didn't he sell, he tombstoned and pinned me.

The game goes from really too easy (I was absolutely moping the floor with Rico) to probably too hard (i.e. Taker, but maybe it's just that I REFUSE TO JOB!). I have managed to pull off a few reversals, but they're harder to do.

There's no real clear heel/face line, though the crowd did boo me when I kicked Jeff Hardy in the face (it was an accident, I was aiming for Eddie...Honest).

Right now in Season, I hold every title but the Undisputed, Cruiserweight, and Tag (That'd make me a EuroContiCore Champion then). The tag team champions are Rock and Goldust, who are on Smackdown, despite the fact that the Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz, Billy and Chuck, and the APA are all on RAW.

Overall, I'm really having a good time with it though. It's already taken me longer to play the first 1/4 of the season mode than it did to beat last years twice.

Pick it up if you were even considering it. It's seven different flavors of fun. I'm dreading doing the Rumble, because I can never beat them on this game, and Van Dam is going to be horrible for it. Oh well.

This game is much better than the other Smackdown games. I, The Hurricane, ran into the Undertaker backstage. He kept blabbing about respect and I did something that pissed him off and he punched me in the face. Next month I was at Insurrexion and I saw him backstage again. I tried talking to him and he was just like, "If you're not going to leave me alone, meet me in the ring." So I did.

Damn bastard put up quite a fight. He kicked out of my Hurri-ChokeSlam and my Eye of the Hurricane, but was no match for the VERTIBREAKER~!

I lost my Lightheavyweight Title to Eddy in a ladder match a few minutes later only to take the Euro Title away from William Regal after interrupting his stupid interview.

Three matches in one night? And two title changes at a Euro PPV?

Crazy.

-Jag

With poison running through your veins, and death marching solemnly towards you, heroic acts become more of a necessity as you see your time dwindling.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.

Question: What's up with the exploding cars that are in the ads?

For those wondering what I'm babbling about, there's a two-second clip of Undertaker throwing Kurt Angle into a car, and it explodes. Exploding cars?! WTF?

Not only was it three matches in one night for The Hurricane, but they were the only three matches on the PPV. ^_^;;

Ok, this game owns. But I still can't figure how the hell exactly you kick out of a pin?!?! I don't seem to be very good at it, and it's not mentioned in the instruction book.
