Yes, hence DarkRenegade's tip about beating down the ref to avoid having your partner tap out. When you put on a submission hold or have one put on you, a little marker pops up showing how close the victim is to submitting or escaping, and you can mash any button frantically to make the marker move in the direction you want it to. Also, if a submission hold is applied near the ropes, it's now possible for the victim to grab the rope and break the hold with sufficient button-mashing. You can only keep a hold on for a certain length of time, determined by one of your attributes, before you let go automatically, so it's possible to outlast if you can just keep from tapping out.

Kurt Angle was also the U.S. champion at the time.
So it was interesting, to say the least, when backstage Angle shares his sympathy with me, saying that he has to defend his title at the PPV too.
So later on that show, Angle and HHH have a match (HHH jumped to Smackdown). After the match, Triple H beats down Kurt Angle with the help of KURT ANGLE! Benoit and Angle later on challenge Triple H and Kurt Angle's clone to a tag match with both singles titles on the line. At the PPV, the evil Kurt Angle had transformed into the Rock.

On an unrelated topic, some of the matches are brutally harder. The Last Man Standing matches, specifically, take a lot more violence to win. Comparitively speaking, the Three Stages of Hell match (in season mode, at least) is ridiculously easy in the second stage (cage match) if you beat your opponent halfway to death with various international objects in the hardcore match.

Exactly what I did with Benoit. The Taker took him on, and I got him all in the red for the end of the Hardcore Match. Next fall, just a bunch of suplexes and a Diving Headbutt and Benoit got the win.

Alright this is pissing me off. I've found Gameshark 2 V3 codes for this game, and all that happens is the game freezes when it goes to load. Is there a certain way you have to name the codes, because I just called them things like "CAW points" or "Master Code"...maybe it has to be something exact? I dont know...but I need some help! Arg.

They may be bogus or outdated version codes (the same thing happened to me when I got a Kingdom Hearts code a while back). If nothing else, you can try changing the "Master Code" to "[M]". I don't honestly think that does anything, but it does make the M light up green on the screen.

As for submissions, you could beat upt he ref. I've always just walked at the guys pushing them until they're on the ropes. It works for me.

Wisconsin Badgers: 6-3 (Uh...yeah. That pretty much sucked.)

Minnesota Vikings: 6-1 (That sucked as well. It's been a bad weekend.)

Heres another fun bug: If you are fighting a hardcore match backstage, specifically in the parking lot, you can win in less than a minute. Whip them towards the semi, and they will automatically jump to the top of the semi. They have to get down somehow so they will walk off the top of the semi, and fall, causing injury. Do this like 4-5 times and they will be hurt enough for the easy pin.

Update: I just finished January with Jericho, and I now hold all the belts on Raw. I had a nice little fued with HHH where he pulled the old Angle switharoo on me, but I ended up beating him at Armageddon in a HITC match (cool visual with me bloody at the top of the cell holding the belt). In January I won a 6 man battle royal to prevent anyone from getting a title shot against me, but I challenged HHH to the submission match (if you have a submission as a finisher, than submission matches are your friend). I love this game and I cant wait to finish this season so I can begin with my CAW.

Got it last night, very fun.

One bug I noticed in a match against Chavo (playing Matt Hardy). It was a hardcore match, and somehow Chavo ended up standing on the barricade railing in a corner (left side, close to the entrace ramp, if you're looking from the ring to the titantron). I had a chair and was hitting Chavo while my character was standing on the floor. Despite taking repeated chair shots, Chavo couldn't get down from the railing and would never fall over. He just walked around like a wounded bird, while I beat him until my right thumb was tired. He took considerable damage and it was an easy rollup for the pin.

Also, does this game seem much harder than SYM? I'm having a hard time with the reversals and when we lock up, I never know if I should immediately try for an O-button move, or go straight for a reversal.

My bug experience: I play as Jericho and challenge champion Rock to a hardcore match. I get the three-count only to have Rock clock me with the belt after the match. He remains champ! I had to survive his gift-box ambush and pin him in a HITC to finally get the belt.

I apologize for the possibly simple question, but what exactly do superstar points do?

I had that same scenario, I think its supposed to be liek when Eric Angle subbed in for Kurt Angle at the end of one of his matches if you watch the interview the next week. HHH did it to me then said something about having his cousin help him out.

Superstar points are what determine which titles you are in line for. The more superstar points the higher the title you can fight for, and the higher profile matches you will get in. They also determine if you can wrestle in the royal rumble and if you are invited to do the England PPVs.

Ah. I thought the cousin reference concerned getting the big gift box ready. But it explains why Rock was bloody during the match but not in the post-pin animation.

I'm using Rey Mysterio. I just won the WWE Title from Taker at Armageddon, but tragically I was prevented from uniting the title with every other Smackdown belt after HHH took my US Title in a 20-minute Fatal Four-Way TLC match at the same PPV.

I also managed to survive the Elimination Chamber match against Angle, Brock, Haas, O'Haire, and Val Venis. It came down to me, Angle, and Brock. Both of them were still fresh, so I ended up just letting them beat up on each other for a while as I hung around outside the ring. Finally Brock was able to eliminate Kurt, so I went after him with five full Smackdowns built up. I hit him with the Toe Kick, hoisted him up for an F5, and went for the cover. One, two, kickout! Followed up with a West Coast Pop. One, two, kickout! Another West Coast Pop had the same effect. By this point, I've largely built myself up to have another Smackdown (total of 2) so I land another F5. Brock STILL won't drop. We go back and forth, and he managed to build up another Smackdown. I'm hurting, so if he lands just one hit, I'm dead. Frantically, I hit him with some quick fast flying attacks and jumping kicks. I build up one more Smackdown. Toe kick connects, West Coast Pop.... one, two... THREE!

The multiman matches are just insane. I love it!

I can't believe it... I'm being Chris Jericho and I'm World Champ for pretty much the entire year. (I won it from Goldberg at Bad Blood, if I remember correctly). I wind up fueding with HHH around the end of the year, and I drop the belt to him at Armageddon.

I'm not that upset about it, because I figure I've just got to win the Royal Rumble at I'll end the season by winning my belt back at Wrestlemania. I make it all the way to the end and that dirty bastard Lesnar tosses me out.

Again, I figure - fine. Logic states he'll fight the WWE Champion - Kurt Angle - and I can still get my title shot. For the next two months, even though I had something like 98 Superstar Points, I wasn't booked in anything worthwhile. Maybe a match against Flair here, and a tag with Christian there, but nothing major. I wasn't even on the No Way Out card.

I went and talked to Bischoff, demanding another shot at my World Title. He kept insisted I was "too heavy involved in a storyline". Wrestlemania comes and... I'm not on that card either. I couldn't even get an Intercontinental Title shot. Just... nothing.

And then, to add insult to injury, after the show, I'm consoled by the fuckin' Coach! (I didn't get to wrestle - he didn't get to do commentary, so, hey, let's go get something to eat.)

I started a new season with Angle, and I'll be damned if I'm getting screwed over again.

(Oh, and the legends are beyond cool. I wish they had their music, but that's not a huge deal. It's still just awesome to be able to book a six-man match with, let's say, Ted DiBiase, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio Jr, Jimmy Snuka, Kane and George "The Animal" Steele. Too bad Steele doesn't eat the turnbuckles - although his taunts are plenty cool.)

You'll probably get more of a "feel" for it as you play and see how things work, but it can be tricky. There are still times I've gotten in trouble when I can't figure out if it was me or the opponent who initiated a hold, but it's gotten easier.

Me, I'm just pottering around grabbing titles after I got my butt kicked in the Elimination Chamber. Do NOT ever let a computer player throw you off one of the little cages. It hurts. A lot. (At least I managed to eliminate Triple H first, so I'm claiming moral victory.) My ol' buddy Kane and I finally pried the tag belts away from Triple H and Flair, who had held them for something like six months, and I managed to get the IC belt from the Rock despite getting hit with two Rock Bottoms in the first two minutes. But it's mostly waiting for the next angle to start.

I highly recommend watching the entire credits video if you unlock it. After all the credits are done, there is a special message from a WWE superstar that is pretty damn cool.

I just started my second season with Kurt Angle and won the WWE title at Backlash. I beat the Undertaker via submission with a front face lock of all things. Anyway, after that I had a story line where Rico approached Vince backstage begging him for a title shot and Vince granted it to him. Two weeks before the PPV, I had a match scheduled with Rico. The match before mine was Benoit/Lesnar. I go to Skip that match, but it goes to a cut scene of Lesnar beating down Benoit so Angle runs out to save him. He runs off Lesnar but Rico appears out of nowhere and smacks me with the title belt and the match begins and he gets a 3 count. This is all in a cut scene, by the way.

Next week, Rico is gloating about how he beat me when Mr. McMahon comes out and says that Rico used him so he lets me pick our match type at the PPV. I choose a LumberJack match. I've also decided at this time that it would be hilarious for Rico to win the WWE Title and that I'm going to lay down for him at the show. I also wanted to see what storyline possibilities would come from this.

So the show comes and I lose and Rico celebrates with the title. Then Tazz comes up to me backstage.......and asks me if I want to start a tag team with Brock Lesnar. Nothing about Rico winning the belt. Nothing with Rico gloating about winning the belt. Nothing. In fact, Rico hasn't been on a show since he won. Now I'm in a storyline with Brock going for the tag titles and Stephanie won't let me challenge for the title again because I'm "heavily involved in a storyline". BASTARDS!!

I haven't picked up HCTP yet. I have a question about entrance music that I don't think was answered yet.

I know the legends don't have their music. And IGN said Kane, RVD, and Victoria don't have their proper music. Is there anyone else that's missing their entrance music?

And are the replacement themes any good?

I can't think of anybody else who doesn't have their original entrance music. RVD's and Victoria's music are basically just instrumental versions of their current themes and Kane's is his old theme.

The Dudleyz are swiping Spike's music, Stacy has Generic Diva Entrance A. I haven't heard it in a while, but I think RVD's music might be the theme he was using before he started using One of a Kind.
