It's now my turn to fawn over this killer game. Not having a job meant almost 9 straight hours with the game yesterday. Needless to say, I finished an entire season with Goldberg. I lost a couple of matches early on (the Vince McMahon 3 on 1 match killed me too, and a triple threat match), but after that, I went about 30-0. I started the feud with Triple H, then Austin (HHH got the sledgehammer shot on me in the parking lot, and Austin later revealed that he...WAS THE DRIVER). I won the world title soon after and went into faction mode.

So the Dangerous By Design faction of Goldberg, Booker T, Hurricane and Trish feuded with the Corporation. That lead to the Elimination Chamber match which I actually won (but not before many panes of "glass" were broken). Our group actually had the bus that was destroyed by that no good Triple H. At the end of the first season, I kept the title, beating Ric Flair. Afterwards, I learned the answer to the question of "Why do I wrestle?" The credits are decent, but are not exactly like SYM.

I have already started my second season with Kurt Angle on Smackdown. I had the US and tag belts at one point, but lost a ladder match to the WGTT, and lost my US belt in a triple threat match where I wasn't even pinned! After that, I tried to tag with Lesnar, but I ended up shoving his face in my birthday cake, and that was that.

The best angle so far though started when Torrie wanted to manage me. Being a nice guy, I said yes, and then avoided the advances of Sable. I even looked away and didn't stare at Sable or Torrie's body. I got to judge a Diva Beauty Contest, and of course I picked Torrie. Then after a PPV win, I decided to hug Torrie. She was apprehensive, but seemed to be digging me. JR even came up to us on one of the SD shows and had to tell us to keep it professional. Later, Charlie Haas actually challenged Torrie to a PPV match, and I was the manager. I helped Torrie win, and this time I laid the big, wet kiss on her. This turned into the Matt Hardy/Lita angle as Torrie took me on the ramp and kissed me back (much to the chagrin of JR once again). That's as far as I've got (besides unlocking Old School Undertaker).

The game overall is amazing, and the best wrestling game yet. The B&P match is harmless, but the EC match is awesome. This is what I wanted WM 19 to be, but now I know just to stick with THQ.

I have one question for someone though. As I understood it, on the last game you could change the difficulty for the exhibition mode, but it didn't affect the season mode (what I mean is that the Season mode on SYM was just on normal difficulty). Now on this game I put it on Easy mode again, but suddenly the Story mode is not hard AT ALL. So either the difficulty setting is used for both modes, or I am the greatest HCTP player...EVER. So does changing the difficulty change the Story mode difficulty?

EDIT- I wanted to also say that DarkRenegade is right. I had to help out Torrie a lot in her match, and the only way to counter the Haas of Pain was to run in and knock out the referee.

Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.

Damn, I should have thought of that. Instead, I had to lose my hardcore belt in a triple threat match when Jericho made HBK tap to the Walls. Ironically, though, Jericho dropped the belt the very next week ... to Nash. The Clique even fixes video games!

Speaking of which, Triple H was barely a presence in most of my SYM games, but unfortunately he's all over this one and he's damn near unbeatable. (Surprise.) He and the Rock are the only two guys I've had real trouble with so far -- as usual, Rocky is inhumanly fast and strong and counters just about everything I throw at him.

I've never wrestled Triple H because I'm on Smackdown but for almost two complete seasons every ppv he's wrestled at he's won. I wish the wrestler stats included the other brand's wrestlers.

I'm now in my second season, this time i'm using Chavo. Man! I thought being Benoit was tough. At the beginning with Chavo i was struggling to beat Steven Richards or John Cena and was around 60 for my SP. However i then started a stable and chose Brock as my first team member because he's dominant so i ran up a nice little winning streak tagging with him (our other faction member was Matt). Then Undertaker came over from Raw to help me once and that set up a series of matches where I tagged with either UT or Brock or both of them. So because of that i've boosted my SP up to 76. Unfortunately the faction is over now and i'm on my own. My first match on my own was a grueling match against Benoit, I HAD to pin him atleast 30 times that match. Afterward we shook hands and I got 5 experience points for making a "strange friendship" I hope that doesn't mean what it sounds like.

I've read all your reviews of the game and wich wrestlers you play the season mode. But what about the difficulty level? What levels are you playing and how good are the levels working?. The SYM game was too easy for me, way too easy. I don't have the game yet cuz here in Finland the release date is 11.14 2003, I think.

I took up for Good Old JR in month two, beat Eric Bischoff in Hell in a Cell at Summer Slam, punched Undertaker backstage(twice because he dared me to do it again)and have held the IC belt twice.I like the fact that pretty much everbody at this board is having different experiences in the game. One question though:Where is a good site to find CAWS to put in the game?

Updating my Jericho season, I went after the world title, but Austin wanted it too. Bischoff set up a lethal lottery tag tourney were the winning team fought in a #1 contenders match. I teamed w/Austin and then beat him in the match, only to job to the all powerful HHH (it is frustrating when he gets like 6 smackdowns to your 1). At the same PPV, Goldberg took my IC belt in a 4 way TLC match, where HBK just stood there and wathced Goldberg take the belt while me and Steiner were out. So I spent the next few weeks challenging Goldberg until I got my belt back. Then me and Christian won the tag belts off of Evolution and I then took Kane's Hardcore belt, so I am a current triple champ with my eyes set on the World title.

I have a few more probs I found in the game (aside from the obvious unevenness of certain wrestler's ability)
1) Inconsistant refs-if you bring in a weapon or hit them with a weapon, its an automatic DQ even outside the ring, however the computer seems to be able to use weapons with no repercussions.
2) Title shot rules-it seems everytime you challenge someone for a belt, they start w/2 smackdowns, but when someone challenges you, you dont start with any sort of advantage.
3) The legends-It sucks that there is no entrance music for these guys, and some of the legends they picked kind of suck (IMO). For instance, I'd rathar have Jake the snake over Hilbilly Jim. I also would have like to seen Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, and any of the Harts.

Aside from small probs though....I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Hillbilly Jim still works for the WWE; I remember reading an interview with him a year or two ago about the videos they were putting out at the time. He's in that department, somewhere.

Anyway, that's probably why he made the cut.

I think it will be a great game (i havent played it yet) but I'm very dissapointed with the available wrestlers in the game. no Jeff Hardy...no Hulk Hogan...no La Recistance...no jamie noble...no al snow...no farooq...no bradshaw...no mark henry. fuck...why are they doing this?
what's a WWE game without Hogan and the Hardy Boyz???

Why would Jeff Hardy and Hulk Hogan be in the game when they're no longer part of the WWE?

La Resistance probably came in too late to be included.

Al Snow isn't a full-time wrestler.

Faarooq, Bradshaw, and Mark Henry were basically on hiatus or in OVW (or both) till recently. Same reason Molly's not in - she was in OVW for a brief period to help with training, which happened to coincide with when they finalized the rosters.

I don't know why Noble's not in, but his moves are - if you want him that bad (or for that matter, Hogan or Rainbow Brite) make a CAW. Hell, they even left in the Hogan legdrop.

One thing which hasn't been mentioned yet, but WARNING for CAW fans...

Every CAW you make starts out with stats as weak as one of the divas, and you'll have to go through season once or twice to build them up properly.

Now repeat the process for every single CAW you want to make... up to 64 (using two memory cards).

Or save yourself the pain and anguish and just buy a gameshark or a codebreaker. Infinite creation CAW points are available; set the stats appropriate to the character you're creating. That way your Andre the Giant can be realistic instead of weak as a kitten and slow as a slug...

I really think they dropped the ball in regard to the stats. It's kinda fun to raise them in Season Mode, true, but do we really have to do that every time we get a whim to make a CAW? Unlockable bonus points would've solved this.

Just because Jeff Hardy may come back, doesn't mean they are going to put him in the game. They would have to pay him royalties. And the game is going to sell with or without him. And what if he doesn't come back? Same with Hogan, they'd have to pay him, and the Vince has tried to really edit out Hogan from the WWE this year. Whenever they do video recaps on PPVs about Zach Gowen and everything that happened in that era, they tend to edit out Hogan whenever possible.

Adding to what others said above: Goldberg is a main eventer and a major star, and was even before he came to WWE. Moreover, he'd already had several years' high-profile wrestling experience before he came to WWE, so the programmers had plenty of material to draw on when they designed his look, moves, etc. La Resistance were unknown quantities; how can the programmers be expected to design them if they don't know how they're going to wrestle?

Besides, it's a matter of priorities. I'm not a Goldberg mark, but if I had to choose between including him and including Sylvan Grenier, well ... the choice makes itself.

I kind of like using my made up characters with really weak stats and working their way up but it does make sense that if we recreated legends that we would want them to have good stats. I mean if we decide to make Hogan he's going to start off by wrestling guys like Stevie Richards. (Not that I have a problem with Stevie beating Hulk.)

Of course if you've made many CAWs enter them in your season too, then maybe you'll luck out and face them and get an equally weak opponent.

Melon Head - i've been looking for CAWs but I don't think many are being made yet. The game just came out so a lot of people are playing it to see how it is and also trying to unlock everything.

Most of what i've seen have been Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Dreamer, Sting, Gail Kim which can all be found at

http://www.ematrixusa.com/sdgfx/phpBB2//viewforum.php? f=19&sid=c96b6eb9bee62d1e9b5873a4cf166079

Haven't tried them though, don't know if they're any good.

WHAT A GAME!!!

I actually sat there for four hours last night just getting used to the differences and everything. For a non-gamist like myself, that's huge. I cannot get over how much better the graphics are, how much more complex the storylines are, etc.

The only minor flaws I've picked up on so far (and very minor at that) is that Nikolai Volkoff is billed as 'Nicholai Volkoff' for some reason, and that, in season mode, Jericho doesn't have a beard when he wrestles, but he has one whenever he's backstage. But like I said, minor stuff. This game ROCKS.

on the CAW side of the game: (cause i am that geek who has now owned the game for 3 hours and spent 2 and 1/2 of them looking through the attires)

- finally, finally, finally the SD series added in a realistic looking Tiger Mask mask. I have a pretty good version of TM IV that needs some touching up if anyone is interested. (in return, if anyone knows his moveset, contact me.)

- the "styles clash" is in the game (!) under the term "landing splash" if i recall.

- maybe it's because i haven't unlocked some hidden deals, but how is it that you can have the exact replica of Lyger's mask, but not his shirt?

- It truly does suck that you can make a CAW and have it possess the strength/speed/etc. of a half dead leper

on my 1/2 hour of actually playing the game though - i only did singles matches, and i must say that any game in which i have lost more than i have won is fantastic, if for nothing else than the fact that i haven't even gotten into season mode but yet i am so into getting revenge on Chris Benoit and HBK for their brutal beatings of Ultimo Dragon and Rey Mysterio that i must master the new controls to beat them.

all in all..... great great game, and so far well worth the cash....

Absolutely incredible game. The pros (new season mode, new controls, amazing graphics, etc.) far outweigh the cons (odd legends, some roster exclusions, Hillbilly Jim's head). Seriously, what is with that thing?
