Well, quite a few mainstays bit the dust on Monday. And there are more on the way. Let's see who goes off to Suspension Island tonight.

-Show stars with MVP's VIP Lounge. His guest is himself along with tag partner and co-tag champion Matt Hardy. Matt comes in, but the bouncer first has to check and see if he's on the guest list. Ha! MVP shows his favorite moment from last week, in which he got the pin for the titles and celebrated with all three belts. Matt counters by showing HIS favorite moment, which came backstage after that match when he knocked MVP on his ass and took his belt back. Matt demands a U.S. Championship match at Unforgiven, but MVP points out that he's the captain of the team and has already booked them for a rematch with Deuce & Domino at the PPV. He's also conviniently managed to get a match booked for Matt to help hype the match for Sunday. Man, MVP needs to be on the booking team. Anyway, this seamlessly segues into...
-Matt Hardy v. Deuce (joined in progress). Decent TV match sees interference from both tag partners. Match ends when Team Captain MVP trips up Deuce, resulting in a Twist of Fate and the pin. Ok, I can admit when I'm wrong and I fully eat my words. This angle's a lot better than I expected and if MVP and Matt keep having nights like this, this should be a lot of fun to watch!
-Jamie Noble's gonna catch himself that pesky Hornswoggle. He has himself a crate hanging over a bowl of Lucky Charms and is ready to pull the rope as soon as the leprechaun takes the bait. I imagine he bought this trap from Shawn Stasiak.
-Kenny Dykstra v. Chuck Palumbo. Chuck Palumbo has Michelle McCool on his Big Beautiful Titan Motorcycle while Kenny is seconded by Victoria. A nothing match that ends with a Palumbo Full Throttle. You know, maybe it's because the last time we saw him was as one-half of the World's Gayest Tag Team, but I just can't take Chuck Palumbo seriously in this role.
-Teddy Long gives Kristal a gift: the new Jagged Edge CD currently not in stores. He talks about the wedding night. Kristal's mother then calls, which Teddy notes seems to happen quite often during convenient situations. Oh poor Teddy...
-Batista & Kane v. The Great Khali & Finlay. As expected, this match was pretty good when Finlay was in there and absolutely terrible when Khali was in. Match ends with a Kane chokeslam and then pin after Kane & Batista dispatch Khali.
-Meanwhile, Jamie Noble's plan is foiled when the rope attached to the crate just comes off. But wait! The Cruiserweight title's under the crate. But Jamie Noble isn't dumb enough to...oh wait...yes he is. Later, Jesse & Festus walk by and are astonished at the talking box that claims it's named Jamie Noble.
-Hornswoggle v. Jamie Noble for the Cruiserweight title. No contest. See above. It's a tight contest between WWE and TNA to see who can piss away their lightweight division first and both companies are neck-and-neck.
-Undertaker vignette. A druid appears in the ring. Mark Henry comes out to give him a big hug, but the druid disappears when the lights go out.
-Rey Myserio v. Chavo Guerrero in an "I Quit" match. Chavo continues his streak of awesomeness by coming out with a chair and reminding Rey what he did to him with it. Despite the fact that we've seen these two go at it a lot over the past year, this is still a great TV match. Trust me on this one. Both guys get their big spots in and get in some high-impact moves. Rey even gets Raven's Drop Toe-Hold Into a Chair spot in! And he follows it up with a senton into Chavo, who's sitting in the chair! Insanity! Match ends clean when Rey repeatedly smashes Chavo's knee until he quits. Great, great match and at least Chavo leaves for his suspension on a major high note.
-Post-match Khali tries to squeeze Rey's head like a grape with the Iron Claw. Rey even does the Ken Shamrock "I'm bleeding from my mouth" spot. Batista comes in and chases him off. Teddy Long then decides to make the PPV match a Triple Threat match with Batista thrown in. Oh wonderful.

The moral of the story is, if you're linked to steroids, prepare to take a long, unpaid vacation...unless you're in the main event, in which case you'll keep your cushy spot and get a prominent PPV match. I realize that putting Rey and Khali in the ring together would have caused the universe to collapse into a black hole of suck (could you imagine Khali trying to sell Rey's offense?), but I don't think throwing Batista in is the right solution. How many times is Batista going to get a shot to blow another title match?

Other than that and the Noble/Hornswoggle silliness, this was a good show. The main event is more than worth your time and MVP and Matt are turning a stale angle into gold. Definitely check it out!

Definitely an improvement over the last few shows. Some notes:

- I liked the end of the main event a lot. Rey gets his revenge on Chavo the same way that we was put out. The match was good enough that Chavo's white tights were not a distraction.

- I agree with the Rey vs. Khali vs. Batista angle being made as bad as it already was sans the Animal. I think throwing Hornswaggle or Jilian Hall in as the 3rd participant would have had the same impact.

- Is it my imagination or is Khali getting better? He's taking bumps better, (it's got to be hard to fall as a seven foot five {or whatever} man in the first place), sells some offense and at least gets in and out of the ring in a timely fashion. Maybe I'm just hoping it's better.

- I think I buy Palumbo's gimmick a little more seriously because the last time I saw him was as a member of the FBI which was only slightly less gay than the current gimmick. But we've seen this so many times from the Taker down to Crush and the bald twins. You've got to throw 'real American' in there too I guess. Didn't the UT ride Titans as well?

GOD no! Same slow headbutts and boring grip holds.

And the bouncer for the VIP Lounge segment had to be the absolute dumbest thing I've seen in a while. One name on the list...Matt Hardy...And you gotta stop and check him first? Haha, funny, but really dumb at the same time.

Damn, I missed the first few minutes and didn't see the bouncer. Did he ask for Matt's ID? That would have been funny.

The Jamie Noble/Hornswaggle bit was really funny to. Loved the Lucky Charms as bait.

That had to be the slowest druid ever. The lights were out for like an hour almost. They should have edited that in post production.

IF Batista really has a suspension coming, I could see them booking a Batista demolition at the hands of Khali on Friday's show, resetting Unforgiven's title match back to Khali/Mysterio (and setting it up to make Mysterio's improbable title win seem even MORE improbable, right up until the hand hits the mat a third time). I guess we'll have a better idea of Batista's status in about 36 hours. (Check CRZ's World tomorrow night for Target Center taping spoilers!)

Ah, it's that time of the month again when we wonder why Batista is getting another title shot. Please let this be leading to heel turn, or the fans turning him heel because they are sick of him getting undeserved shots. Potential suspension notwithstanding.

As solid as the MVP-Matt angle is right now, when can MVP actually get back in the ring? Because this can't really go on more than a few more weeks.

That would actually make a lot of sense right now. Batista's concern for Rey last week really contributed to him not making the finals of the contender series, (Finlay's interference aside) and him going the cheap route and pinning Rey for the title at Unforgiven would pretty much be a heal turn in and of itself.

Here's a thought. If they are trying to ditch both Rey and Batista for a long-time, why not figure out a way to hot-shot the belt onto a returning Undertaker?

When is 'Taker returning? I can only guess that's why Khali still has the belt.

**Never mind** Next PPV if I remember.

Wait, who said anything about ditching both Rey and Batista?

And from the stories doing the rounds, Big Dave is pretty much in the clear. He's strenuously denied the accusations made about him, to the point of publicly threatening legal action. From the sounds of it, WWE's sided with him.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Batista and Rey aren't going anywhere unless another scandal breaks. Which is, well, possible. But I assume we're in store for a lot of Taker/Khali for most of the fall. UT will end up with the belt, but they always stretch out their top programs. Perhaps they will finally step into the Punjabi Prison.

Wasn't Rey named as one of the people getting HGH?

Anyway, I imagine that Taker/Khali will drag into at least January.

You're thinking of the old pharmacy probe from back in March. Rey was never implicated in this most recent scandal and Batista wasn't mentioned in the original article, but his name was mentioned later in an ESPN report.

The tag belts need to stay with the unAmericans for a while. It's a great way for them to get heat. All these American teams say "Why are they holding OUR titles? Let's get them back!".
