It's been a while, but I'm able to catch the show tonight, so I'm happy to offer the recap for the week. Hopefully, I can make a habit of it again, since I'm working during the daytime now.

WWE - The World is watching!

Before the show starts, video package hypes the return of The Undertaker to SmackDown!

Opening credits! Fireworks! We are (taped) from Cleveland, Ohio.

We start the show with Theodore Long coming to the ring. He has a major announcement, but first he must do a quick dance. Promo time! Long hypes the Fatal Four-way PPV and Jack Swagger's title defense. Long automatically gives one of the title match slots to Big Show. The other two slots will be determined by qualifying matches: CM Punk faces Kane and Rey Mysterio faces The Undertaker. Man, Rey drew the short straw on that one. With that out of the way, it's time for an interruption from Drew McIntyre and his music.

McIntyre declares he should still be the IC champion, citing that his match with Kofi should have been stopped due to a lacerated arm. Long's brief rebuttal is interrupted with Drew declaring himself Jeff Jarrett The Chosen One. Drew takes out a piece of paper from Vince McMahon and hands it to Teddy, declaring Vince wants him to read it outloud. The letter states that Matt Hardy is suspended for his reckless actions at Over The Limit. Drew threatens that the next letter will contain Long's termination, should he cross him again. Matt Hardy's music hits and Matt comes out. Security holds Matt back, as Long tries to talk him down. Drew adds some fuel to the fire by declaring himself the reason Matt's suspended. Long walks back as we go to commercial. A very nice angle to start the show. This is the most interesting Matt Hardy's been in months.

We come back from break with Drew McIntyre already in the ring for his match...

DREW MCINTYRE & "THE ALL-AMERICAN AMERICAN" JACK SWAGGER v. KOFI KINGSTON & THE BIG SHOW
Swagger starts us off with a promo as he comes to the ring, declaring that he's still World Heavyweight Champion. For our benefit, he repeats it a couple of times. In case you didn't know, he's still World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger.

We start off with Kofi and Swagger, the two champions. Lock-up leads to a wrestling sequence, which Swagger wins easily. Kofi gets a kick in the ribs, but Swagger fires back and tags out to Drew McIntyre. McIntyre gets caught with a kick and a headlock, but Drew throws Kofi down, then whips him into the ropes, where Kofi catches him with a monkey flip for 2. Drew comes back with punches and kicks, but Kofi catches him with a flying forearm. Tag is made to the Big Show, who avalanches McIntyre in the corner. Swagger tries to get Show from behind, but get taken down in short order. Kofi removes Drew from the ring, which leads to commercials...

We come back with Show tossing McIntyre in the ring from the apron. Big corner chop, as Show talks trash to Swagger. Show slows things down with some crowd-pleasing choking before tagging out to Kofi. Kofi slingslots himself in with a splash for 2. Drew manages to muscle Kofi into the corner and take over with an array of kicks. Corner charge is countered into an arm drag. Ten Corner Punches are stopped at 7, as Kofi sees Swagger coming after him. Kofi kicks him off the apron, but a springboard is stopped when Swagger yanks Kofi down by the ankle, resulting his face hitting the apron. McIntyre rolls Kofi back in the ring for a two count. McIntyre slowly sets up a chest chop before tagging in Swagger. Swagger doesn't quicken the pace any, as he hits the chinlock. Kofi fights out of it and tries to come off the ropes, but gets caught with a belly-to-belly. Swagger tags in McIntyre, who impresses no one with more punches and kicks. More punching, as Drew keeps trash talking Show. ANOTHER resthold from Drew, though it doesn't seem to diminish what looks like a hot Cleveland crowd. McIntyre tags Swagger back in, who continues pounding away. He hits the bear hug, as the heels seem to be overdoing the restholds. Kofi tries a sunset slip, but gets muscled into the corner. A Swagger corner charge misses and Kofi hits a cross body block. Swagger tags McIntyre while Kofi's able to roll over to Show for a tag. Big Show avalanche and shoulderblock. Swagger tries to come in, but gets removed quickly. Drew takes advantage of the distraction, but he can't come close to setting up the Future Shock, as he's pancaked quickly. The Mayweather Special will spell the end for McIntyre at about 15 minutes shown.

WINNERS: The Big Show & Kofi Kingston - Swagger takes his belt and decides to fight another day. Show puts on his intense face.

Still to come - Rey Mysterio faces an uphill battle against The Undertaker.

Ad break includes hype for the Best PPV Matches of 2009-2010 DVD and the Karate Kid remake - Did they add F'N LINKIN PARK MUSIC to this movie? Jeezum Crow, I hate Hollywood sometimes.

We go backstage to Luke Gallows and Serena looking over CM Punk, who is conspicuosly hidden by a towel. Serena assures Punk of his good looks. Punk says he doesn't care if the people mock him, because he is courageous and is better than everyone. The Straight Edge Society leads Punk out, still with the towel over his head.

We move on to Vickie Guerrero, just to tempt me to FFWD. She yells in Spanish, which is about as pleasant as her yelling in English. Dolph Ziggler comes in, as Vickie compliments his chivalry. Vickie flirts with Dolph, which is...kinda gross. Vickie books Dolph and Chavo to face Christian and Hornswoggle. Because if there's one match that just doesn't get old, it's CHAVO AND HORNSWOGGLE! The segment ends with the camera zooming in on Vickie's "Cougar" necklace. Oh, REALLY? Is THAT where they're going with her? Let's just move on...

The Straight Edge Society's music hits, as Luke and Serena lead CM Punk, with the towel still over his head, to the ring for his match. You can probably see where this is going. And sure enough, Punk has a luchadore's mask on. HA! On to a commercial!

FATAL 4 WAY QUALIFIER: CM PUNK (w/STRAIGHT EDGE SOCIETY) v. KANE
Punk begins the match with kicks, but gets knocked down with a Kane elbow. Kane takes control in the corner and works over Punk's arm. A corner charge misses and Punk goes to work with punches and kicks. Punk goes off the ropes and tries to slide underneath Kane, but Kane grabs him by the mask! Sensing danger, Punk leaves the ring as we take another break.

We come back with Punk working over Kane with kicks, but Kane gets himself up and whips Punk into the corner before elbowing him down. Scoop slam and Kane goes up top, but Punk crotches him. More kicks send Kane to the outside, as Punk focuses on the knee. Match slows down, as Punk continues to focus on the knee. Kane shoves away from a leglock, but Punk goes back to a single-leg crab. Kane makes a comeback with a vertical suplex, as the crowd seems to have died. Punk's able to go right back to focusing on the leg, as the crowd's looking comatose. Punk comes off the ropes, but gets flapjacked. Corner charge hits, but Kane moves gingerly on that bad leg, which allows Punk to counter a second one. Punk tries to come off the corner, but gets caught on the way down. Sidewalk slam gets two. Despite the bad leg, Kane goes up and hits the top rope clothesline. Kane winds up for the chokeslam, but Punk fights out of it. Kane's able to toss Punk to the outside, but Kane's favoring the leg so much that Punk's able to come off the top with a cross body block that Kane nearly reverses for 2. Punk goes for the GTS, but Kane tries to counter by going for the mask. Serena distracts the ref, allowing Gallows to nail Kane. VERY UGLY GTS will finish for Punk at about 15 minutes shown.

WINNER: CM Punk - Really boring match and that finishing sequence looked terrible. Off night for both guys.

Still to come - The Undertaker returns and faces Rey Mysterio.

Ad break features hype for Wrestlemania XXVI 3-disc Collector's Edition DVD.

Just For Men Rewind shows highlights from last week's Peep Show, leading up to Dolph Ziggler's sneak attack on Christian.

CHRISTIAN & HORNSWOGGLE v. DOLPH ZIGGLER & CHAVO GUERRERO (w/VICKIE GUERRERO)
Really, there's only one way this is going to end. I love Dolph and Christian and think they could have a hell of a feud without the Guerreros and Hornswoggle mucking things up. To my surprise, this match does NOT end with Hornswoggle pinning Chavo, as Christian picks up the pin after the Killswitch.

WINNERS: Christian & Hornswoggle - Post-match, Dolph lays out Christian with the Sleeper Hold.

Next week - Drew McIntyre invokes his rematch clause and he'll face Kofi Kingston for the IC Title.

Josh Matthews is in the back with LayCool. I FFWD. I've honestly had more than enough of these two broads and don't need to hear them essentially say nothing of importance.

LUKE GALLOWS (w/SERENA) v. MVP
Does Luke have new music or have I just been out of the loop for that long? Either way, it's got a nice, mellow beat. MVP grabs powder from the announce table and does the LeBron James intro, which would be great for the Cleveland crowd if LeBron wasn't about to bolt for some other team. As it is, that's just salt in their wounds.

We start off with a boxing exchange, which MVP gets the better of. MVP starts the wrestling portion with a belly-to-belly suplex. Flying forearm gets two for MVP. Gallows tries to tell the ref he's got something in his eye, which MVP tries to loosen with a kick to the face. MVP charges Luke and gets tossed over the ropes. Back in the ring, Luke gets a vertical suplex for two. Gallows hits the waistlock and whips MVP for a back body drop, allowing MVP to get a kick and a second-rope shoulderblock. Clotheslines and a facebuster lead to the Ballin' Elbow. Serena comes up for a distraction as MVP mounts the ropes. THE MASKED MAN~! comes in and wipes out MVP, which allows Luke to his the Gallows Pole for the pin.

WINNER: Luke Gallows - The mystery of the Masked Man thickens.

RAW Recap - Batista quits, which if it sticks, it was a great final run. Hope he eventually comes back.

FATAL 4 WAY QUALIFIER: REY MYSTERIO v. THE UNDERTAKER
Last time these two met, it was the Royal Rumble, where Rey was game, but fell short in a great match. UT rushes Rey, but Rey rolls around to avoid the bigger man's grasp. UT catches him, though, and goes to work overpowering the smaller Mysterio. Rey goes for UT's leg and tries to move quickly, but gets caught with a clothesline. UT lifts Rey for a vertical suplex and drops him on the ropes. Running boot misses, as Rey gets a top rope dropkick to send UT to the outside...which appears to have merely annoyed the Dead Man. Rey leads UT around on a chase and is able to land some blows and an Asai Moonsault. Rey poses in the ring, as a pissed UT looks on before we go to our last commercial break.

When we come back, Rey's still using his quickness against UT. Rey manages to double over UT, but when he kicks him, UT just stands upright, unaffected...and ANGRY. He grabs Rey by the throat, as Rey tries to fight him off. UT eventually catches Rey and goes for the Last Ride, but Rey slinks out of it and hits a drop toehold into the 619 position. UT doesn't even give the illusion that a 619 is going to happen, as he just stands up and hits an incoming Rey with a huge boot to the face. UT slides Rey across the ring, bar-fight style, to the outside. Picking up Rey, UT slams his back into the ring post before throwing him a second time into the post. UT continues to overpower the smaller Mysterio, tossing him around repeatedly. Rey comes back with a 'rana sending UT to the corner. Springboard senton and seated dropkick only gets two for Rey. Another springboard senton gets two. Rey's able to get UT into the 619 position and HITS this time! He tries to Drop the Dime, but gets GOOZLED on the way down! Rey fights out of the chokeslam, but walks right into Snake Eyes. Rey ducks the big boot and goes for a springboard moonsault, which is VERY ill-advised. Sure enough, UT catches him. Tombstone, good night, at about 10 minutes shown.

WINNER: The Undertaker - UT looks like he busted open hardway at some point during that match. As usual, Rey puts on an entertaining underdog performance, but can't seem to get over that hump against UT.

Show ends with UT triumphant. End credits.

Decent show this week, but one that felt a bit heavy on the filler. Still good for the main event and the Punk angle, but not much else.

Undertaker and Rey have great chemistry. I really like their work together. But why is it that Undertaker always ends up with a bleeding nose?

What I also liked was LayCool's promo. These two are great together. Finally the women's divison has some fresh faces even I can remember. And they are good in the ring as well.

Think of how many pro wrestling blood feuds could've been avoided over the decades had someone come up with the co-champion idea earlier.

"Grrr, Hogan, it bothers me that you never gave me a title shot!"
"Andre, brother, why don't we just be co-champions?"
"...hey, that's a great idea, boss! Machines 4 Life!"

How much longer must Hornswoggle wrestle? Then they bring back Chavo facing Hornswoggle? The WWE would be better if both were "future endeavored".

CM Punk's mask looked like a Dallas Cowboys helmet with the star on the side; this is perhaps the worst idea to mask someone since Hogan was Mr. America.

The Undertaker and Rey Mysterio match was pretty solid; I think Undertaker got the bloody nose when he sat up and Rey did his sitdown senton splash.

Overall, not a terrible Smackdown (it did have its moments though) but not so great either.

Except by "worst", you mean "bestest", considering the whole point isn't to fool anyone or claim Punk's someone else, but rather to flip off the fans and not give us the pleasure of seeing him shorn.

Plus now they can build to a match or angle where Punk gets demasked.. pretty brilliant booking by the WWE to get a bunch of angle time out of this.

Maybe the match people were expecting between Rey and Punk that would've been Mask vs. Hair down the road will now become a Mask vs. Mask match? That's a long time for Punk to be wearing the mask, but it'd be a neat payoff even if the match result would be a foregone conclusion.

Of course, logically by that time Punk's hair should have grown back, but we don't need to always use logic, do we?

Actually I think it's cool to have him sporting the mask. It beats the Buddy Rogers Boxing Headgear look.

Or Kurt Angle's wig
Which was a great story too. People were dying to see it removed. The same with Punk. They already made a big deal of Kane pulling it off ever so slightly.
Nope, it's a great idea. A shame his tattoos and chest hair should prevent htem from doing switcheroos with the mysterious SES-er. Who btw wore the mask too now under his hoodie.

I loved Vickie being all cougar. It was creepy and Dolph wasn't sure what to do (until he saw the benefits).

And I was glad it wasn't hornswoggle that pinned Chavo.
Hornswoggle is almost bearable btw as long as the announcers don't get upset when he gets hit.
Cole and Lawler were always disturbed when he got attacked.
Tod and Striker were all "he;s a competitor, he knows what he's doing and what the risks are"

Also great was the Lay-Cool promo.
That act went from 'ugh, so annoying and pointless' to pretty damn entertaining.

Taker-Rey match was good. They made it sure looked like Rey could've won though we all knew Undertaker wouldn't return just to lose.

MVP came to the ring and wrestled with his outfit unzipped and pulled down to the waist. And there was his small, tiny Malcolm X tattoo. And all the effort to keep it covered seemed silly.

LayCool had made Michelle McCool interesting and Layla legit. This is great stuff. Belt Kiss!
