Seriously? No one found time in their busy Christmas week to check in on Smackdown?
No one saw MARYSE end Michelle McCool's reign of terror and banality and become the new Divas Champion? (Although reports from the Raleigh house show last night say Maryse went down to a knee injury of some sort. Awful news.)
McCool turned heel on guest referee Maria and gave her quite the beatdown. Seemed to work on getting a reaction (any reaction for McCool will do) from the Toronto crowd, who rained down a "You suck!" chant on McCool. Maria took the beating like a champ.
MVP's losing streak continued as he was squashed by The Great Khali, who has my favorite new entrance music.
There's tension between Edge and the Big Show, not to mention some unsettling innuendo being brought up, denied, and re-implied about Show and Vickie.
WWE Champion Jeff Hardy has so far been booked in a similar fashion to Randy Savage's 1988 run. Jeff getting tossed around by Show but still managing to win by countout was reminiscent of Savage surviving his matches with Andre back in the day.
The funniest part was Jeff nursing a hurt left shoulder as he went up the ramp, when Matt met him and tried to raise his right arm in victory. Jeff clearly YELLED IN PAIN.
Shelton Benjamin retained the US belt over Hurricane Helms in a hell of a good match. A few weeks ago, I made note of Tazz's continual references to Shelton's "cocksure attitude". This week, Tazz made a point of referring to Shelton as "the superior jock." I wonder what Tazz is inferring?
Good show this week. And Maryse becoming Divas Champion meant the Christmas presents from WWE continued.

If nothing else, hopefully this prompts them to have Gail Kim return sooner to take the belt off her. Still sucks.

I marked-out hard for Maryse - good for her. She's improved so much lately and it's good to see her rewarded. Now if McCool would just stay off my television.
I really hope this MVP streak is going somewhere. I remember the Noble/Polumbo feud receiving a LOT of build only to fizzle into nothing. I would fun to see Porter dissolving into Christian-esque tantrums after each loss, though.
Probably reading too much into this but I couldn't help but chuckle and cross my fingers when at the end of SD, VIckie said that the Hardys had reunited and thus Edge had to team with Big Show. I so hope this means Edge will find his own partner. Someone who might be like a brother to him...
Maryse/Michelle was a good match, although the pacing was a bit slow. The beatdown afterwards was a bit long.
I too hope that the MVP thing will go somewhere. I like how down and out he looks now though. Especially nice compared to how smug he has always acted until the streak started..
This is a tad misogynistic, even if it's just an interpretation of the characters. I have no problem with Molly's life choice but it's not as if it automatically makes her a better person than anyone else.
