Been a while since I caught this show. Let's see if this week's any good.

-Finlay v. Jeff Hardy. Decent match ends on a lame DQ when Finlay reaches for the shillelagh. Jeff tosses him post-match.
-Undertaker comes out and cuts a standard wrestling promo for Sunday's Hell in a Cell match.
-Torrie Wilson & Mickie James v. Victoria & Beth Phoenix. I still, for the life of me, can't understand the point of moving Victoria to Fridays. Beth dismantles Torrie and gets the pin.
-It's time for the VIP Lounge. Tonight's guest is Matt Hardy, of course. Once again, the bouncer doesn't seem to want to let Matt through, but Matt shows off his belt and gets through. Matt wants a U.S. title match tonight, but MVP points out that Matt's genuinely grown on him. And as partners, they have a title defense tonight. This, of course, segues right into...
-MVP & Matt Hardy v. John Morrison & The Miz for the WWE Tag Team Championships. It brings me great joy to hear JBL do color on a Miz match again. MVP smacks Miz around, but favors his knee and tags Matt. The match then turns to Miz and Morrison working over Matt for the whole match. Matt makes a comeback, but goes for a Twist of Fate on Miz instead of making the hot tag like a dope and gets a chop block from Morrision for his troubles. Matt then gets rolled up for the pin?! What the hell? John Morrison and The Miz are YOUR WWE Tag Team Champions! Post-match, MVP comes in and takes the blame for the loss and invokes their rematch clause...right now! Thus we now have...
-MVP & Matt Hardy v. John Morrison & The Miz for the WWE Tag Team Championships, part deux. MVP cleans house, but quickly makes the tag back to Matt. Miz and Morrison continue working the knee and Morrison eventually clamps on Lance Storm's old Canadian Maple Leaf half-crab. Matt makes the ropes, but Morrison pulls him back to the middle of the ring. Morrison gets the tap out victory.
-After the match, MVP helps his partner up...AND WIPES HIM OUT! MVP gives his loser partner a first-class beatdown, whipping him with the U.S. title and destroying Matt's knee to some huge heat. I can't rave enough about how great this storyline is. You can genuinely believe that MVP was starting to like Matt, but the ultra-competitive MVP wasn't about to keep his cool after Matt lost both matches for his team. Just absolutely brilliant stuff!
-Rey Mysterio v. Mr. Kennedy. Some good wrestling this night. Rey gets the 619, but hits Kennedy so hard that he knocks him out of the range of any potential follow-up move. Kennedy pulls Rey into the corner post and looks to finish with the Green Bay Plunge, but Rey reverses into a hurracanrana for the pin.
-It's time for the weigh-in for Sunday's Hornswoggle/Khali match. Hornswoggle weighs in at 138 lbs. Khali breaks the scale. Khali's translator quickly puts me to sleep, but I do manage to watch Khali crush Hornswoggle's hat.
-Batista v. Mark Henry in a No DQ, Non-Title match. Batista takes control from the start and never lets up. Spinebuster, belt shot, pinfall. SQUASH, as well it should be. Just for fun, though, Batista continues beating Mark Henry like the pile he is, culminating with many chair shots to the back. Undertaker's creepy eyes appear on the 'tron after the beatdown to end the show.

This was a really good show. No crap that I could think of and the MVP/Matt Hardy feud takes another huge leap. Rey and Kennedy have a great match and Mark Henry gets the stuffing beaten out of him to hopefully remove him from the main event scene once and for all. What's not to love?

Thumbs up. Catch a TiVo recording if possible.

You need to flip your view of the Porter/Hardy story in general. MVP never ever liked Matt, and never was going to consider it. After seeing that Hardy was better than him in things like basketball, arm wrestling, madden, karaoke, "pockets v. purple - who makes better ring gear?", and once even a real honest-to-god wrestling match he decided that he needed to distract Matt long enough for him to, I don't know, forget or something. Matt, being surprising laid-back for a guy who swore murder and aired every excruciating detail on his website a few years ago, decides to continue playing games until the deux ex machina (also read: Deuce and Domino) gave away their titles. Since then, it was MATT who would seem to have been cracking at some points. Matt, although sarcastically, would start to play the role of talented little brother. At one point Matt was joking around with MVP while watch Rey and Finley beat on each other. This took us to last night, where Matt remembered over the last week that he has a REAL brother that got fucked up on ECW. So Matt finally is though playing the games and told MVP where to stick it. MVP is freaking out, but not totally, because Matt has remembered his quest a few times before, and the best way to get out of it was a tag defense! It's worked every time so far. Only this time, it was planned all along to lose these titles, and to get Matt worked over, not only for Survivor Series but to keep him away from the US title. MVP then presumably told Miz and Morrison where to target, driving home the point by faking his leg injury. At least, I assume MVP told them, because I refuse to think either of them would've though of that. So after two brutal (for Matt) matches, a perfectly healthy MVP finishes the job.

The thing that made this angle is that nobody turned at any point. Matt stayed face, and MVP stayed heel. Furthermore, at last night's match where the "big heel turn" moment went down, it was a false positive because MVP didn't TURN heel, he just amped it up.

MVP never ever liked Matt, and never was going to consider it.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. During last night's VIP lounge, MVP looked genuinely disappointed when Matt told him he was never his friend, and never would be. I agree with the opinion that Matt was growing on MVP, and when Matt dropped that bomb on him, MVP decided to throw the tag match & exact some revenge on Matt for making him feel like a fool.

Been a while since I caught this show.

You really need to make it a point to watch more often. SD is back to being head & shoulders above Raw (and has been for a while), especially in the wake of Booker's departure & Cena's injury, HHH's & HBK's return, and Rey's return.

Obviously SmackDown can be edited, but I really didn't see anything in that match that Morrison or Miz needed to apologize for. I have to admit that I was sort of hoping to see this feud run all the way to 'Mania, but when something is this well done, I can't complain when they follow logical booking sense. The sh-t has finally hit the fan, and now it will be up to the performers to pay-it-off in the ring for the US Title.

Is Henry's contact up at last? Certainly a convincing beatdown, but I can't see how these two can possibly pull off a HitC match that will compare to the ones so helpfully highlighted during the hard sell.

My only small criticism is there was the opportunity, but no Finlay-Hornswoggle meeting this week. This looks as bad as when they abruptly divorced Estrada from Umaga.

I think he was more disappointed that Matt Hardy saw through his ruse of trying to be his friend. At Cyber Sunday, it was pretty clear he was just happy he wasn't fighting Matt Hardy because he didn't want Matt Hardy to seriously go after his US title again.

If anyone here wants the REAL reason GWB wants Hussein dead, it's simple and goes back to what his father started years ago: "Don't mess with Texas" The Bush's got screwed by Hussein before, and now they won't rest until he's dead.
