Live from Louisville, KY (The Yum! Center, I'm guessing).

Let's talk about how obnoxious Miz is while mentioning his daughter incessantly in his promos. His ability to take something that's a good thing and twist it around and incorporate it, naturally, in his heel act is exactly what separates him from the rest. He then proceeded to use his daughter in an argument to somehow imply that D-Bry is a less caring father, and then even engaged in some glorious victim blaming. Miz insisted that it was Bryan who was unable to let bygones be bygones and moving inexorably to a violent conclusion to their long-simmering issues. The storytelling was excellent, Bryan has been wronged over and over again, and now Miz is painting himself the victim in order to escape the retribution rightfully coming his way. I can't imagine any other heel on the roster being able to effectively play the role Miz is playing. The wife totally called that the Miz/D-Bry feud would somehow feature their respective daughters, so kudos to her.

The Miz TV that was promised was instead interrupted by Big Cass, whose promo was a little all over the place. Cass's big point was that he came back from injury the same day as Bryan, but his return was lost in the hoopla surrounding Bryan. He hit his usual heel points of despising smaller people because they're weaker, which was fairly generic. Cass looked good dressed up, and his delivery was convincing enough even if the material wasn't the greatest. Speaking of D-Bry, he was discovered laid out in the back, but they didn't play up any mystery angle - Bryan challenged Cass to a match at Backlash.

We got video packages for Sanity and Andrade Cien Almas, both of whom are coming to SmackDown in the (near?) future.

In the women's division, I'm enjoying Carmella heeling it up as a self-obsessed, respect-hungry champion who hasn't really done much to earn the respect she so desperately craves. Charlotte being cast in the role of silent badass is an improvement that serves to highlight the Queen's strengths while masking her weaknesses. The contract signing was a perfect example of this, and Mella did such a great job of annoying the crowd that Charlotte actually got big cheers for initiating the violence and bashing Carmella's face into the table.

The Iiconics continued to light it up on the mic - Peyton's Becky impression is glorious, as is Billie's full-throated support for whatever (horrible) impression Peyton is trying out. The fact that they won helped assuage my fears that they might be cast in the roles of loudmouths who don't really win.

In other segments, the Jeff Hardy/Orton/Shelton Benjamin saga continued, this time Orton supplanting Hardy as Benjamin's opponent. Orton looked poised to win until Sunil Singh interfered (and promptly ate an RKO, which is basically what that man is paid to do) and Shelton picked up the win with an ugly Paydirt (which the cameraman mostly missed anyway). Naomi helped Jimmy Uso win his match against Rowan by doing her full entrance and providing a distraction. I like that Naomi is featured prominently in this storyline, and not as a damsel in distress, which is refreshing.

Speaking of distress, Club buddies AJ and the Good Brothers found themselves in quite a bit of it in their main event six-man tag against Miserable Bastard Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev Day. Poor Gallows took a knee to the back of the head and lost the match, and then Anderson sacrificed himself to save Styles from the same fate. He ate another Kinshasa for his troubles because that's how Miserable Bastards operate. I'm digging the chaos of Nakamura's new music, which is essentially an industrial remix of his violin theme with a bit of Japanese rap thrown in. It stopped the crowd from being able to sing it, which is a good first step on the way to heeling. Graves explained that Nak had this theme custom-made as he was sick of the audience singing his song. And how did Graves know this, you might ask, since Nakamura obviously doesn't speak English? "Hablo Espanol!"

So I missed the show, but reading about it -- especially the main event -- is there any indication that they're setting up for Gallows and Anderson to turn on Styles? Reading it here, it makes me think they might be setting up a turn under the "we protected you and all we got was a couple concussions" thought process. Might be interesting to have a champion Nakamura flanked by former AJ friends, The Club.

Caught the main event: Nakamura looks like a star. Love his entrance and theme music.

I didn't really get that vibe, even though I was looking for it, and commentary didn't skew in that direction either. That might still happen down the line, the Good Brothers seem more suited to a heel role.

Also, there is now this conversation (cagesideseats.com).

Why are they not going heel Paige from the start? I'm guessing due to her injury speech. She got her best buds on Smackdown but they dont get the first title shot. She has a chance for Miz or Joe to bring the IC to Smackdown. They should be pampered so they are at their best. Hell Joe can bring the IC and Universal to Smackdown. He should be her Star.

I'd prefer to see Paige go a Dario Cueto route. I guess that technically is a heel but rather than always be on the side of heels and always against the faces she should just choose chaos and not side with anyone. She could make an exception for Absolution though.

That's gotta be the big face-gets-his-revenge moment, right? That's a few more nutshots away, I think.

I forgot the Bar taking the RAW tag titles. Nia might be the only title holder on RAW in 9 days.
