I guess I'll (grumble) root for the 49ers. That seems the soonest, easiest thing to do.

You know, we really should have just beaten the Eagles (or even the Lions). Minnesota wanted to HAND us the North... but we fumbled it.

Isn't this usually the point where the NFL brings out Professor Irwin Corey to explain the tiebreaker system?

"As far as my lack of professional courtesy and my obvious immature humor in referring to using your head as a pickle jar, well, I reserve my courtesy for those whom I respect. Your lack of personal integrity has given me much grief, and I find that thinking of your hollowed-out head sitting on top of my fridge and providing a safe haven for pickles is a comforting thought."

I dunno 'bout that. If the 'Hawks win and the Cowboys lose they'll both be 10-6, so the strength of victory will be affected by all of the other games on the weekend. That's almost BCS-ish, like Boise State-Hawaii and Notre Dame-Syracuse deciding who gets in the Sugar Bowl.

CRZ, I had no idea you were a Packer fan (don't throw anything at me, I haven't been in the Football forum much!!). You just earned major points with this Cheesehead :-)

So...we have to cheer for:
Buffalo
San Fran
Washington
New Orleans
Arizona

Sheesh...I agree with you Zim, the 49ers winning is the easiest route to go!!! And yes, we definitely put ourselves in this spot...don't forget our loss to the chiefs too...I was at Lambeau for that one and believe me WE SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, SOV is just the strength of the teams you have beat. so it will effeft the games of teams that Seattle, Dallas, and GB beat. Add up the winning % of the teams that lost to those 3 and compare. Top 2 get in.

If it went to the next tiebreaker, Strength Of Sched. then it would effect ALL games.

    Sheesh

Actually, if Seattle beats San Fran., a New Orleans win over Dallas could keep the Packers out of the playoffs.

Since Green Bay beat Seattle in their game earlier in the season, Green Bay would get the tie breaker over Seattle. So, if Dallas, Green Bay, and Seattle all win, then Dallas would be 11-5 while both Green Bay and Seattle would be 10-6. Green Bay gets the tie breaker and they are in. If both Green Bay and Seattle win while Dallas loses, then they would all be in a three way tie with 10-6 records and Green Bay's win over Seattle is meaningless. In a 3 way tie, Dallas and Seattle take the 2 spots.

Green Bay should've beaten Philly, Detroit, Arizona and KC. The Pack had the easier schedule of any major team going into this season; I had them picked for 12-4, 11-5 something like that. Mike Sherman should be fired, regardless if GB gets into the playoffs or not.

Rob asks Dave and Ric if they want to go backstage to play Hungry Hungry Hippos and Flair and Batista immediately bail. Flair wants to be Green. Man, EVERYBODY wants to be green. Except the girl in the commercials. She wanted to be pink. That either means that the ad agency was sexist or that she was communist. Of course Hungry Hungry Hippos is a rather capitalist game isnt it? No self respecting communist would play Hungry Hungry Hippos. Except Stalin. He LOVED Hungry Hungry Hippos. I was going to make a post similar to this, but declined because even though it is a *huge* revenge game, I could easily see them letting their guard down and getting beat. (No, I am not covering my ass ethier way, thank you. )

The one question I have is, why would a GB fan care if Buffalo wins or loses?

Edit: too many i's in similar

I don't think this team can have a let down. There is just too much riding on this game. They need to win this to be sure they will have home field thoughout the playoffs. The Jags and the Jets games were classic trap games and they pulled out both. I just don't see how they will be overlooking a team that made them look foolish week 1.

Plus the Bills looked dead last week. There are a team who can't wait for 5PM saturday so they can all go home. This just all the makings of a blowout.

Me, I'm still kinda hopeful for an NFC North title. With their spot secure and unchangeable, Denver would be smart to rest Clinton Portis and most of their starters...hell, especially when the backups can run for 140 yards a game! That might make things easier for the Packers...

...and a road loss down in Arizona is just the kind of collapse that the Viqueens are known for. C'mon, Randy Moss, hit that ever-lovin' self-destruct button again!

I'll be stuck in a cramped microwave TV truck outside Lambeau come Sunday, but at least I can see the game...

Um you might want to tell the Bills that they HAVE to play the games. 31-0 this game was over before everyone got to there seats.

This day could be so bad for me.

I have the Seahawks on opposite the Kentucky/Louisville game. I'll be watching/taping the Hawks and monitoring the Cats on CBS Sportsline, and taping it to watch later . . . maybe.

I had to sit in Freedom Hall and "take" that ass whipping the Cards gave the Cats last year, so I'm hoping they can return the favour today. Of course, I'd trade that for the Seahawks making the playoffs in a second, and here come the State Po-Lice to escort me to Indiana or something . . .

Of course, the power went out about 3:15est and just came back on about 4:15, so I'm not feeling good on the omen aspect of things.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

Post game edit - Well, I got what I wished for, so for today I'm happy. Had UK also won, I'd be ecstatic, but I'll certainly settle for being just happy. Now, we'll see how I hold up tomorrow. I have to deal with my Mom's family at a gathering with NO TV! Man, we're gonna be outta there so fast . . .

Okay so there no possible way Green Bay could get in if they lose tomorrow. Lets just assuming Minny wins, because Minny situation is easy if they lose and GB wins, GB is in!... GB wins Dallas wins, GB is in. But if Dallas loses, now it's to the confusing part. On to the bold!

Note: * denotes scenarios where if SEA beats DAL on Strength of Victory (SOV), the first team listed earns the seed BUT if DAL beats SEA on SOV, then the second team listed earns the seed

I noticed Green Bay has much stronger possibility getting in if Dallas beats Seattle by Strength of Victory... This only comes into play if Dallas loses to the Saints. So does SOV will be determined by this one game? And if so how much can Dallas lose by and still keep a stronger SOV then Seattle?
