This was a really good show, marred slightly by the last fifteen seconds, wherein TNA showed again that THA SWERVE is more important than anything else.

On the pre-show, Eric Young walked out on Rhino, leaving him alone against the British Invasion. Jesse Neal came out and the ref let him become Rhino's tag team partner; Neal was immediately destroyed and pinned after a Doomsday Uppercut.

KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH FOR THE TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP:
Champion Suicide vs. "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Consequences Creed vs. Alex Shelly vs. Chris Sabin

This was nuts and had some good storytelling in it as well. Some nice ladder spots and a few scary bumps. Suicide retains.

SECOND CHANCE MATCH: Daniels vs. Shane Douglas
This went as expected. Daniels won with the BME. Was not very good, but at least Douglas didn't throw up this time.

TNA KNOCKOUT WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Champion Angelina Love vs. Tara

For some reason, Tara had love down and then decided to leave the ring and beat up on Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne. This led to her getting the Botox Injection, hairspray in the eyes, and the Lights Out for the pin -- Love retains.

MONSTER'S BALL MATCH: Abyss & Taylor Wilde vs. Raven & Daffney
This made up for last month's non-Monster's Ball match, I thought. The ladies went all out; Taylor Wilde hit a splash off a speaker stack onto Daffney through a table, and then later spinebustered Daffney INTO A PILE OF THUMBTACKS. Holy COW, Daff. That wasn't a pin because Dr. Stevie interfered, but Abyss soon after Black Hole Slammed Raven into the same tacks for the win.

MORGAN'S CHANCE TO JOIN THE MAIN EVENT MAFIA:
Sting vs. "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan

Sting wins with a Scorpion Death Drop off the second rope. Match was alright, marred by a blown spot where Sting was supposed to reverse the Hellevator into a Death Drop but instead opted to fall over.

TNA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Champions Team 3D vs. Beer Money, Inc

Beer Money won, yay! DWI on Devon. They had a little help from The British Invasion, so I predict a three-way tag match next month. Fun stuff.

KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH FOR THE TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
Champion Mick Foley vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle

This was a blast. It was even better than the X-Div KotM match, which I never ever would have predicted. I really, really thought for a minute near the end that Styles was going to win -- he just got SLAUGHTERED in this match but kept coming back for more. Everyone was working like crazy and looked great. There was some heavy-duty selling that was nice, like Kurt Angle (who is growing his hair and beard out and looks like a smaller Nathan Jones), who took a Mick Foley elbow off the Penalty Box and got pinned, and then got sent into the Box, where he lay in a fetal position for the next few minutes.

At the end, Styles almost had it won but Joe powerbombed him off the ladder. Both Joe and Angle went up...and then Joe handed the belt to Angle, who hung it up and won, becoming the new TNA Champion.

Yeah, it was a shocking swerve and they got me, but I just felt deflated more than anything. The Main Event Mafia came out to celebrate, which means that they must have been complicit in Joe's destruction of them, I guess. What this means as far as the identity of Joe's "adviser," I dunno.

But like I said, apart from that little blip, this was a solid show -- TNA's best of the year, easily.

I enjoyed the X-Division match as well as the mix Monster's ball. The tag team match was good for what it was and as well as the Knockouts title. Daniels/Franchise was mercifully short. I was enjoying the heavyweight title match until the Russo swerve. I was talking to someone about Crash TV and how TNA really doesn't do it well. This was a prime example of it. There is no logical reason for Joe to help MEM espeically if Taz is coming in. I know AJ vs. Joe is something we all would love to see, but you could have done that after they finally defeated the MEM. If they would have had Joe or Kurt or another member of MEM come out during the Sting/Morgan match to help beat Sting then maybe it would make sense. Yet, this totally came out of left field. It also sucks, because Joe/Kurt going all out for Bound of Glory to end the MEM storyline would have the logical and satisfying conclusion.

I wonder if TNA expects Kurt Angle to be back in WWE by Bound for Glory and decided Styles/Joe needed to be built for Bound for Glory instead. Probably not, they'll probably just waste Styles/Joe on a six minute Impact match w/commercials.

But trying to look at this positively...
1. We'll get Styles/AJ at some point.
2. I know some people were picking AJ but that had to be wishful thinking. I doubt many people HONESTLY thought this PPV would end with Foley and Jarrett titleless and Angle as champion is 100 times better.
3. Hopefully the only way to go from here is a AJ title chase.

The rest of the show was great. I was ready for Shelley as X champ and Suicide unmasked but the match and angle have been so great I don't mind seeing it go on.

3D vs. Beer Money vs. Invasion makes sense but where does that leave LAX? Hernandez is supposed to be cleared to go and the Invasion still has their Feast or Fired briefcases. Perhaps they go 3D/Beer Money for one more month and LAX tries to get revenge on the Invasion?

A really good show, that could get pushed into great depending on what they do with the Joe/Angle stuff.

Suicide vs. "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Consequences Creed vs. Alex Shelly vs. Chris Sabin
I really like the staggered entrances so both Shelley and Sabin could get hometown pops. After Lethal and Creed showed they were on the same page with the Guns, they started getting the same heat and so through the match the only real "heel" was Suicide. It was good to see the X Division show themselves off, including a badass Sliced Bread onto the ring apron. I'm with my fellow Detroiters in boo'ing Suicide retaining, though that doesn't mar my opinion of the match one bit.

Daniels vs. Shane Douglas
It was what it was. I'm a fan of the Franchise but, he just can't do it in the ring anymore. Give him someone to manage and send after Daniels.

Angelina Love vs. Tara
Solid, but it didn't quite click for me.

Abyss & Taylor Wilde vs. Raven & Daffney
I said this match would make up for the last Monster's Ball, and it did. The women brought it, Raven had no brawl rust, and it was a good bloody time. Wilde's staggering victory pose with the ref, followed by being carried up the ramp by Abyss, was great storytelling.

Sting vs. "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan
I think Sting's botch was more a case of his planting his feet wrong, hitting the back of Morgan's boots, rather than a case of old-manism. Either way I wasn't expecting too much from this match, so it exceeded expectations by not being horrible.

Team 3D vs. Beer Money, Inc
The British Invasion joined mid-match for some commentary, and they were great. Match was typically good stuff, with some Invasion shenanigans thrown in. The only thing the crowd wanted to chant more than "Beer! Money!" was to get the tables.

Mick Foley vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle
A great match, leaving the ending out. They teased another big spot off the penalty box cage, only to get a massive flying elbow spot from it just a minute later. I was one of the ones that was thinking "AJ wins" coming into this and nothing really stood out to change my mind until the very moment Joe handed the belt to Angle. I still don't know what to make of the ending; on one hand, it *is* very Russo-tastic. But on the other, it also makes a kind of sense if you remove the Net rumor "certainty" that

Taz is Joe's mentor.
Which probably isn't the case now. So, I'm gonna wait for the next couple of Impacts to see how they handle the story from here. It has potential to be good, or bad, so I'll reserve judgment.

Slammiversary definitely continued the overall string of good PPVs from TNA. Even if there are odd booking decisions, the in-ring product to get there always seems to be great.

Damn, this was a solid show. I'd say this was probably one of their top 5 best PPVs to date.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I like the Suicide gimmick. They should keep milking it for a long time by just constantly changing the person in it costume.

Douglas didn't look too terrible, why all the hate. Did he hurt himself there? he was favoring the leg after a couple minutes.

The Beautiful People are the best heel stable in TNA right now. Angelina did not need to lose here so this was perfectly fine.

Daffney and Taylor Wilde certainly made up for last months fiasco. Raven didn't look like he had been sitting on his ass for the past year or so. Wilde used to annoy me because she reminds me of that troll girl from HEROES but she's growing on me.

Sting tripped over Morgans boots. That was awkward. If Sting was gonna win anyway, what was the point of him offering up his leadership of the MEM? This could and should have been better. I would like to see them go at it again.

Beer Money should have won clean here. Team 3D doesn't need 'protecting' because it's quite established that they are 'The Best' British Invasion could have attacked after the match was won, freeing up BMI to feud with someone else.

Samoa Joe has been saying for weeks that his #1 priority was Kurt Angle. Joe did not lie to us, we just misunderstood what he meant. AJ Styles worked his ass off.

Interesting theory. Anyone feel like going back and seeing what happened prior to each of Joe's attacks on a MEM person? Had that person just done something to tick off Angle or question his leadership?

Didn't he also threaten to kill Kurt Angle? And why were the MEM members all applauding him after he viciously took them out weeks earlier?

As for the PPV, I didn't really think it was that impressive. Maybe one match above (what I would consider) three stars, that being the opening match, despite the many contrived spots. Douglas vs. Daniels and Sting vs. Morgan were both very blah, especially Sting low-blowing Morgan in front of the ref after a botched spot.

The Monster's Ball was fine as was the tag title match (which was a bit too much like a Tornado Tag for my tastes), and the British Invasion surprised me on commentary. The women's title match got some time, but it wasn't memorable or anything, even though I liked keeping the belt on Angelina. Seeing Mick Foley purposely getting pinned to get a rest (or being knocked out by Joe in like one minute) and have it played as him being "crazy" was just embarrassing for Mick.

I want to see what explanation they have for the show's ending on Thursday's show. If the explanation is "I gave Kurt Angle the title, because I want to be the one to beat him for it", then that's just dumb. Why wouldn't Joe take as much pleasure in beating Angle like a drum in a title defense?

Not to mention that if Joe faces Angle later and loses, then last night just serves to make him look like Joe the Giant Idiot.

The rest of the show was solid. And even the main event, to an extent, was for the best. Keep Foley/Jarrett as a sideshow, not for the belt.

The "I made you and I will break you" factor? I hope they wouldn't go that route, though. Somehow, I see (because I saw this suggested elsewhere) a MEM promo to start ¡mpact!, Booker, Steiner and Nash are having a grand old time, then Angle says something to Joe about taking care of business. Angle and Joe then proceed to beat the holy hell out of the other three, going off on their own.

So, why exactly did it take so long for Daffney to get a job back in the business? The girl has always been money, plus she's the only hot goth chick in wrestling. Seeing Raven back makes me giddy, he looks better than when he left.

Taylor/Daffney will probably go on longer then expected due to the positive reviews online and at the show. I did want to say that AJ owes Foley his life for catching Styles almost falling off the penalty box to almost certain doom. I think Impact is going to have a lot of explaining to do.

As far as the Taz rumors go, TNA just put this video on their Facebook page: Click Here (facebook.com)

That's not even hinting that he's coming in. That's juuuust shy of flat-out saying it.

I don't hate Douglas, but giving a spot on the regular roster to a guy in his mid-forties who's not that much of a "name" in the first place and who only manages "not too terrible" is not the direction I want to see here. However, if it's leading to Douglas managing again, I think that's a good thing.

My Question is who is there for Douglas to manage. The only people I think of that really fits is MCMG and I don't want mic time taken from them. Maybe LAX could use a mouth piece but I'm not sure Douglas fits. Who else is there? Eric Young? Amazing Red heel turn? Matt Morgan?

Eric Young, actually, isn't a bad idea; he and Douglas are kindred souls here, both feeling like they're on the outside looking in. Also, it's difficult to take Eric seriously, so maybe a manager would help with that.

Franchise can also scoop up Jesse Neal once he turns on Rhino. A Neal/Young team could work; their finisher could be "The Needle and the Damage Done."
