Skip Sheffield, one of WWE's rising stars from the Nexus group, will reportedly be out of action for "some time" after suffering an injury at Wednesday night's Raw house show in Hawaii.
The Wrestling Observer reports that Sheffield suffered a broken left ankle during his match at the house show.
Sheffield was in a tag match with Nexus member David Otunga against WWE tag champions Hart Dynasty. Our correspondent at the house show reported that Sheffield laid face-down in the ring after the match with an apparent leg injury. He had to be helped out of the ring and reportedly could not put any weight on his left leg. ---------------------------------------------------------

On the other hand, John Morrison can rest easy for a while knowing that clothesline won't be taking his block off for a few weeks.

It'll be interesting to see just how they play this, especially given that they've already taped next week's Raw. I would hope that they'd use it either as "he did X, so he's out of the group" or even have him "taken out" by a WWE member backstage. | The King of Keith

Also, if the WoW movie ever gets made, he totally has to play an orc. There's no one better suited.

They could also just be honest and have Nexus do a promo where they say "Skip broke his leg, there will be HELL TO PAY!". They cut a swath of destruction, Team WWE makes a comeback then BOOM, Skip comes back and clotheslines someone's head off and the Nexus starts a refreshed rampage.

I hope Nexus just says he got injured rather than kick him out too. But if the idea was they would kick more than one person out besides DY then I guess it would only make sense that they would, even if he wasn't originally on the hit list. | Matt Tracker

Unless he's known for being fragile, I can't see the WWE ditching him. He's the Snitskytista of the group. I would have bet he and Barrett are the sure-fire locks for staying within Nexus as long as that group is around.

He would have been good as a 2010 version of Big Bubba Rogers when he was Jim Cornette's bodyguard. Cause I could see him take a shot and then just straighten his tie, readjust his hat and then try to kill the Babyface.

In addition to the "I can fix this" moment he also said upon Daniel Bryan's return; "You said he was gone, Wade. You said he was gone!!"
I'm not concerned about his status within the company or anything though. I mean, he eliminated two people at Summerslam and it took two finishers and multiple chairshots to take him down, so they are obviously like what he offers.
It'd TOTALLY be badass for him to be clothslining people in the cast.

The upside: Someone gets to look like a badass when they say "Yeah, I broke Skip's ankle, and he cried like a bitch when I did i*gets beheaded by a healed up Sheffield Sickle*"
Another upside: This injury gets him away from David "Jennifer Hudson can do WAY better than my no-talent ass" Otunga.

But this isn't going to kill the Nexus angle by any means. Remember that they're wrapping up season 2 of NXT and (in kayfabe terms) the E haven't given those rookies any reason not to turn on management too, so Nexus could reload whenever they want.

Probably, except they just kinda did that with Darren Young. Plus, if they did go the "Team WWE picks off Nexus guys one-by-one" route, they probably wouldn't let Skip (also my fave Nexus guy) get taken out so early.

Of course they have to go that route NOW. My original point was that if "take them out one-by-one" was their original pre-broken-ankle plan, Sheff wouldnt be one of the first to go.

The main cast of characters in team WWE can move onto other things, but bring in people like the Harts and you have a way for Nexus to get some gold, as well as get some of your younger guys involved in a hot angle. I think it would be pretty badass for DH Smith to come out and say "Yeah I broke his ankle, so what does that mean I'm going to do to you" or something in those regards.
