HOT FUCKING DAMN!!! (slashfilm.com)

This is getting better and better. I admit, I like STAR TREK more then STAR WARS, but DAMN this film is sounding better then all three of the SW Prequels combinded... and we don't even have a plot yet!

Simon is PERFECT!

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

And it's being reported that John Cho (Harold from Harold & Kumar) is your new Sulu.

We do have some semblance of a plot, which involves the older Spock in the 24th century getting involved in preventing a catastrophe occurring in the 23rd century before Kirk's crew became the crew of the Enterprise.

Eric Bana is the villain Nero, joining the announced cast of Simon Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Sulu), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Anton Yeltsin (Chekov), and Zachary Quinto as Spock. With of course, Leonard Nimoy returning as the older Spock. McCoy and Kirk are yet unannounced or still uncast.

I hope all those young actors do really good impressions of the original cast.

I hate the idea of yet another prequel and of new actors playing these characters. If Star Trek were being "reiminaged" as Battlestar Galactica was where they kept the names but did something entirely different, or they did an all-new show set years after the finale of Star Trek Voyager and Star Trek Nemesis, I'd have preferred either of those scenarios. To me, doing the "young" adventures of the original cast is a mistake with failure written all over it.

But I'll keep an open mind and see how the movie is when it comes out.

This movie is basically what The Undiscovered Country was originally going to be. So, a prequel Star Trek movie, with young Kirk and co. wasn't really Abrams' idea.

I like Simon Pegg as Scotty, but not sold on John Cho as Sulu.

I'm kind of tired of the prequel syndrome as well. But the casting of Nimoy kind of shows that they want this to be seen as legit toward the fanbase.

I was disappointed with MI:3 by Abrams, which just turned out to be a big budget episode of Alias. So hopefully Abrams does things a little different this time around. I hope there isn't another one of his musical montages at the end.

Memory-Alpha.org is reporting that Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings, Doom) has been offered the role of Bones.

The Urban thing is total rumour at this point. Also, Chris Pine of Lindsey Lohan clunker JUST MY LUCK is in final negotiations to play Kirk. Which is really uninspiring.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

If that guy manages to land Kirk after that piece of shit, he should be giving his agent at least 50%. I mean seriously, I was one of the few people unlucky enough to see that movie. Good God. Lindsay Lohan fell so quickly.
